Trusting The Enemy

"No, Dad. You don't have to drop me to school,"

Melanie uttered, zipping her school bag.

"Then take a driver, Mel," Her father uttered but Melanie smiled and walked towards him.

She tiptoed and corrected her father's collar

"You don't have to worry about me, Dad and besides," She stopped and ran towards the breakfast table, where Adrian was eating his toast.

She wrapped her arms around his neck from behind, almost choking him.

"Here's my precious personal driver," She said, looking at her Dad and then took a bite from Adrian's toast.

He frowned and her Dad and Melissa chuckled. They all knew how they both were to each other from their childhood.

"Aww… my handsome driver got offended," She squeezed his pale cheeks, turning it red.

Melanie giggled and he sent her a deadly glare.

"Fine but be careful, you both and Adrian, ride carefully, son,"

Adrian nodded at Mr Gomez

"Ok, I'll meet you all in the evening then. Bye,"

"Bye, take care, Dad," Melanie hugged her Dad and he returned the gesture along with a smile and then left.

"Hey, you were calling me rhino and now look, who's eating like a crocodile?" She taunted him.

"What? Rian, you called Melanie this? Say sorry to her," Melissa uttered, displeased whereas Melanie smirked after ratting him to Melissa.

"We shouldn't say sorry for stating the truth, so I'm not apologising to this rhino," Adrian rolled his eyes, earning a scoff from Melanie.

She snatched his toast from him and started eating it.

"You crocodile, don't deserve to eat it,"

He gawked at her and tried to snatch it back from her but she licked it, just like he had done to her last night and started giggling.

Melanie laughed at their bickering. That was how always their morning used to start, with they both snatching each other's breakfast.

"Shouldn't you be telling your son how to behave with his owner, Melissa?"

Everyone turned their heads and Melanie's jaw tightened, watching her so called stepbrother, Daniel, who was just like his mother, Amelia. Cunning and evil.

Daniel walked towards them, with his hands in his pocket.

"Melanie is your owner's daughter, so she's your owner. Why don't you teach your ungrateful son how to respect his owner, Melissa?"

Melanie's fist and Adrian's jaw tightened because they both could never endure someone disrespecting Melissa.

"And you Melanie, why don't you learn how to treat our servants?"

That was it for Melanie's patience.

"I apologise for it, Daniel because aunt Lissa has taught me to give and treat everyone with respect but don't worry, next time when I'll treat you and your mother, I'll keep your advice on how to treat our servants,"

Adrian smirked as Melanie blurted out.

Daniel gritted his teeth and spat.

"We're not here your f#cking servant, Melanie,"

"Exactly, Aunt Lissa and Adrian are not your or anyone's servant here. Keep that  shit inside your f#cking head or else you and your mother think about even insulting them next time, I'll make you both regret it very badly," She snapped.

"Anie, let it be. You shouldn't talk to your elders like that,"

"I'm sorry, Aunt Lissa but sometimes, it's necessary to treat the people the way they treat you," Melanie spoke, looking at Melissa and then trailed her gaze at Adrian.

"Let's go, Rian," She turned around to leave but Daniel's words again stopped her.

"Ain't you consider him your enemy, Melanie then why sticking with your enemy and supporting him so much?"

Melanie turned around and saw that cunning grin playing on his face. She chewed on her inner cheek.

She took a step closer to Daniel and answered

"Because I trust my enemy more than my so called pathetic family members,"

And just like that, Melanie burnt Daniel and then turned around.

"Let's go now, enemy before we become late for school,"

Adrian grinned, satisfyingly, hearing her and then they both left from there.

"Thanks for the ride, bish," Melanie uttered, getting down from his bike.

They both had reached their school's parking lot. She handed him the helmet.

"Hey! Adrian,"

Melanie tilted her head and saw one of Adrian's friends, Arthur, who was standing in between their alleged and famous bad boy group. She knew Adrian's friends and the people he used to interact with, were not good and she even tried to stop him from getting associated with them but he never listened to her.

"How was the ride, Melanie? Did you enjoy it, babygirl?" Arthur chuckled, even her stepbrother, Daniel was present there, smirking, who was also the member of that f#ck boy group.

She knew the double meaning of his words very well but decided to let it be.

"More than you can imagine, Arthur. I'll suggest you try it sometimes," She flashed him a bitter wink and turned around to look at Adrian.

"Your friends are pathetic, Rian," She gawked at him and stormed out from there.

"Damn…your stepsister is so f#cking feisty, Daniel," Arthur commented, smirking and then looked at Adrian.

"And Adrian, did she ever let you inside her panties?"

Adrian's knuckles turned pale with his vigorous fists, after hearing his obnoxious words for her.

"She hasn't, bro because our feisty, stubborn, Melanie is still a pure virgin," Daniel laughed, making Arthur nibble on his lower lip.

"F#ck, now I need her under me, moaning and screaming my name. Her tight cu#t will feel so…." Arthur's words remained incomplete, as he felt a hard and vigorous blow on his face.

Before he could recover, he felt another blow which made him fall on the ground. Adrian hovered over him and started hitting him like an animal.

His pale skin had turned red. His gaze darkened and his veins stretched out on his neck and fists. He continued to hit him everywhere as hard as he could.

Their friends' eyes widened. Immediately Daniel and two other boys held Adrian and snatched him from an almost unconscious and bleeding Arthur.

Adrian was fuming. He tried to snatch himself from their grip, so that he could kill that b#stard for even thinking about using those words for her. But the other boys didn't leave him.

"F#cking think about her again, Arthur and I swear that day would be the last day of your f#cking life," He groaned, like a chained animal and then forcefully pulled himself away from their grip.

He snapped his blazing gaze at Daniel and then grabbed his collar.

"And she's your f#cking sister and if you wouldn't have been meant something to Mr Gomez, I would have snapped your neck right here, right f#cking now, Daniel," Adrian's presence turned barbaric.

Each and every person present there, turned afraid because all of them knew how bad Adrian's anger issues were and how much he used to lose his control in his anger.

Adrian pushed Daniel away forcefully, making him stumbled and then dashed out from there.

"What has gotten into him, today?" One of the boys asked, confused. Adrian had never hitted his friends.

Daniel clenched his jaw before spatting

"This motherf#ker is f#cking possessive of that b#tch step sister of mine,"

"That's enough for today's class, students,"

The students started closing their books and copies, after hearing from their teacher. Melanie was also collecting her notebooks from the desk when her ear caught a whispering of some students.

"You sure, he has hitted, Arthur?"

"I've seen them fighting with my own eyes in the parking lot, today in the morning, Rachel,"

"But Adrian never fought with his groupmates, so why?"

"I don't know, but he was beating Arthur very badly, like he was adamant to kill him,"

Melanie's eyes widened, hearing them. She tossed around and asked them.

"Are you sure, it was Adrian who was fighting with Arthur, Lia?"

"I've eyes, Melanie. I'm not blind," The girl spinned her eyes.

Melanie sighed in disbelief. This boy had really lost it. First he used to fight with others and trouble her and other students but now he had started fighting with his own friends. He really needed a long lecture and some threats from her. What if the teacher had caught him? They surely would have suspended him, especially when his reputation was so bad in front of everyone and this would surely hurt her aunt Lissa.

With a sigh, she left her class in search of that green eyed trouble maker.

Getting done with searching him in every possible corner of the school, she had decided to check the only place where he could possibly be. The school's old library which had been closed now.

Melanie stepped in that abundant side of the school and there he was, leaning against a wall, while huffing the smoke of his cigarette in the air.

She scoffed. First he fought with his friends and now he was again smoking. The audacity of this devil.

Melanie stormed towards him and then stood in front of him.

"What's wrong with you, Adrian?"

He took his eyes down from the sky at her and got a glance of her entire body but again took his eyes upward, completely ignoring her presence and blew the smoke.

She became more angry. Melanie cupped her waist, showing him how much angry she was with him and blurted out.

"I'm talking to you, Salvatore and stop smoking this shit?" She tried to snatch the cigarette from his mouth but he pushed her hand away.

"Get the hell away from here, Melanie. I'm not in a mood to deal with your tantrums," He barked at her, glaring.

"Really? My tantrums?" She retorted back, matching his deadly glare.

"You have beaten your friend Arthur like an animal and you're saying, I'm throwing tantrums, seriously, Salvatore? What the hell is wrong with you and why did you hit your own friend?"

His jaw clenched, when he remembered the words that Arthur had used for her.

"I would kill him next time if he would even think about saying that f#cking shit,"

She became speechless at his comment and by watching that rage boiling in his gaze.

"What he had really said to you that you hurted him so badly?" She asked but he didn't reply.

"Stay the f#ck away from this, Gomez," He threw his used cigarette on the ground and then crushed it with his shoes.

"It would be good for you," He warned her and tried to walk past her but she again got in front of him.

"I won't back off till you're including in it because if you're including in it then it would affect aunt Lissa and I won't let your stupidity to hurt her,"

He gritted his teeth and then clutched her arms in a painful grip.

"She's my mother, not yours so you think your concern for her is more than mine?" He seethed and immediately her hazel orbs lost its shine, hearing his words.

She could face and fight the entire world but could not stand the fact when someone tried to shade her relationship with Melissa. She loved her like her mother, even though she knew she wasn't her mother.

Melanie took her eyes down and tried to take her arms away from his hold.

Adrian understood the damage he had caused with his words, especially when he knew what his mother actually meant to her. He sighed and released her from his grip.

Melanie turned around to leave but he wrapped his arms around her tummy from behind.

"I'm sorry," He rasped but she didn't reply nor tried to push him away. He knew she was crying and when she cried she went completely silent.

He turned her around and saw those shining tears streaming down from her soft cheeks. She barely cried in front of anyone  because most of the time, she cried before Melissa or him.

"I'm so sorry, Doll. I didn't mean that," His voice softened

She still didn't look at him and neither replied.

"Fine, I promise I won't fight again,"

She snapped her teary eyes at him and said.

"Never?"

He chuckled, hearing her and shook his head.

"No, only for today,"

She frowned with her teary eyes and then wiped them. She pushed him away and spat

"Don't you ever dare talk to me. Because of you, I cried, you as#hole," She yelled at him, making him laugh. He had heard that warning from her, more than the days he had lived in this world.

She narrowed her eyes at him and spat before leaving.

"And don't you dare to break your promise. Don't fight with anyone today or else I'll break your jaw,"

He smiled, watching her disappearing figure. How could she control his emotions without even trying? He wondered.

After her classes, Melanie was walking in the corridor with her friend, Evan. They both were conversing.

"Yeah, I know my 18th birthday is next week but ain't this mean I am getting old, Evan,"

Evan chuckled, at her tiny pout. He was about to reply when they heard a sudden kind of murmuring all over the hall.

"Really? In the parking lot?"

"Yes, they all are beating him badly,"

Melanie's ears caught those words.

"Hey! What happened at the parking lot?" Evan asked a group of students, who were talking about it.

"Some seniors are fighting with Adrian,"

Melanie's heart went numb. She had just warned him and he was again doing it.

"They are 4 or 5 and Adrian is alone. They all are beating him,"

Evan turned towards Melanie, who looked like she had gone into a trauma.

"Melan… "

Without letting him to complete his words, Melanie started running away from there towards the parking lot and Evan just stared at her.....
