I try my best to stay clear of Thane as I rush back to my room to change out of Atticus' shirt, which I was sure as hell, Thane would be able to smell on me.
A shower would be best to get most of his scent off of me. So when I get to my room, I close the door and quickly get into the shower. The last thing I wanted was to be questioned about where I was and what I was doing. I was a grown woman, I'm pretty sure I could do what I wanted, but Thane almost made me feel like I couldn't.
It was annoying me.
The hot steamy shower was just what I needed, I take a relieved sigh as I get out of the bathroom, but as I enter my room, I halt and almost drop my towel.
Thane was sitting on my bed with Atticus' shirt in his clenched fist.
Crap. I should have burned it; I cleared my throat, "Thane?"
"Why the hell are you lying to me?" Thane's voice was heavy with anger. I swallowed but gathered my courage.
"I went for a walk-"
"To see At
"Your joking?" "Nope. Bottoms up," I take the first two shots and take the burn with no chaser, "Now, you and I are going to play a game. Have you ever played Truth or Drink?" "No." "We ask each other questions, and you can't just answer with yes or no. You have to spill all or take a stiff drink," I play with my hair. Thane chuckles, "Can I go first?" I look him up and down suspiciously, "Sure, ask me anything." Thane turns to me, then slides a shot over to me, "What did you do with Atticus?" My eyes widened, now I knew why he agreed to play with me; I saw him smirk; I looked at the shot then decided not to take it, "I got chased by Rogues; Atticus jumped in and saved me. I asked him if he had anything to do with my parent's death, he didn't react well. Then a Hunter showed up and tried to kill me; Atticus took the blow-" "He what?" Thane interrupts; he then grabs my arm, "Are you alright?" "Yeah, I'm fine, Atticus got
As I walked up to my room, I ran into Rosie and told her what had just happened. "What?! That thing glowed?" She takes my wrist, examining it, "Whoa, I heard about these things, but I haven't seen one." "Do you have any idea why it did that?" I ask. "Well, I'm not sure but, I heard these things are a part of you so, I guess if it felt your attraction to Thane, it could emulate it," Rosie says, "But don't worry, it's not a bad thing, unless-" Rosie pauses, not finishing her sentence. "Unless, what?" I ask with a raised brow. "Well, I've been thinking, are you planning on rejecting one of them?" She asks. I hold my bracelet to my chest, "That is a big question," I swallow. Honestly, I didn't want to do that to Thane or Atticus. It didn't feel right, "I wasn't planning on it..." "You're going to have a hell of a time going back and forth with them. They aren't exactly on speaking terms," she rubs he arm, then an idea pops in my he
Because I had cried non-stop last night, Thane had slept with me in my room. It was odd waking up to him next to me, but I oddly didn't mind it. He looked so peaceful when he was asleep; I found myself moving a piece of hair from his face and admiring his long lashes. I smile, then he opens his eyes and catches me gawking at him. I freeze, then he smirks, "Whose creepy now?" his voice was full of morning raspiness, the type I loved. My lips pressed together, "I was just going to pinch your nose closed because of your snoring," I lied. Thane raises a brow, "Really? How come your mind went nuts when you were starting at me?" he sits up, leaning towards me, "You weren't thinking of snoring," he whispers. I swallow hard, "Stop that; it's annoying." I crossed my arms even though I knew he was right. My mind had drifted off to a naughty place, but I couldn't help it. I was a fan of mornings... "You know what, I'm gonna learn how to put a lock on my mind, so
~Atticus~ There isn't a day that goes by that I'm not thinking about her, and it drives me nuts. Not seeing Evette was hard, and it put me on edge. "Having a bad day?" Lilia asks, perched on a rock. I clench my aching knuckles," Why do you ask?" "You're giving those trees quite the pounding, " she chuckles. I had to focus my frustration on something, and the trunk of a tree was better than anything else. "What's wrong handsome? Evette got you all wound up?" Lilia asks; I can tell without looking at her that she's smiling. "Just pen
"Wait! Evette!" Rosie grabs my arm, "What's going on? What's the rush?" For a moment, I think about not telling Rosie about Atticus being near, but I decide to tell her instead, "I can feel Atticus; he's nearby," I said in a hushed voice. Rosie's eyes dilate, "Are you going to see him? After what we just heard, I don't think that's a Good Idea." "That's just it, Rosie; if Lilia were a Rogue, she would have joined Atticus' pack. So I might as well find out while I have him here." "Ethel said they could be in cahoots with one another; this is a dangerous situation, Evette; we should go back home and talk to Thane," She suggests. "Rosie, please, just give me twenty minutes with him; I'll find out for myself." "Thane would wring my neck!" Rosie says, "Ugh, fine. Twenty minutes, but that's it. I'm putting a timer on my phone, and if you're not here, I'm calling Thane and telling him everything." "Thank you; I'll be right back!"
"You going to give me whiplash, woman! What's going on!?" Rosie asks. "Evette's on the most wanted list-" Atticus starts to say, but Rosie interrupts, "Your what?! I leave you alone for twenty minutes, and this happens? Good Grief." "Also, why the hell are we bringing him?!" Rosie adds. "He's innocent, Rosie; he never killed anyone-" "Says who? Him?!" "No, Rosie, Lilia is to blame for all of this; she's a Rogue now. And she fooled all of you." Rosie is quiet for a moment, "Thane isn't isn't going to like this..." "It's not like I'm coming inside-" Atticus starts to say, but I cut him off. "Why would you go back to being a Rogue when you're innocent? I'll talk to Thane." Atticus scoffs," Oh yeah, that'll go over well." "He has to understand; this is a total misunderstanding," I couldn't see why Thane wouldn't let Atticus back in the pack if Lilia were the one who killed Khione and not Atticus. So it just
"Thane, why can't we just explain to everyone what happened?" I asked; this was starting to annoy the hell out of me. I finally got to the bottom of all of this, and now he still resists believing it. "Thane!" I shout, he halts in his tracks, "What is going on? Why do I feel like your not telling me something." He slightly turns back to me, "I'm trying to protect everyone, Evette. When we were younger, Atticus wouldn't take the responsibility of being an Alpha; it was all on my shoulders. He spent most of his time with Khione and left me to deal with everything else. I doubt he's changed." "You want to know what I think? I think it's you who won't accept him, not your pack. For some reason, you two seem to have driven a wedge so deep that you don't even trust each other." Thane's fists clench, but I continue, "How the hell am I supposed to be with the both of you when you guys don't even try to repair what's been broken?" My body was on fire,
~Thane~ Sure, I wasn't fond of my brother, but I didn't want him to die at the hands of Khione's sister. "This way!" Evette shouts, then pulls my steering wheel, "Hey-Now! You're going to make us crash before we get to him." "Then turn!" she shouts, "Alright, alright!" I swat her off. As we park, Evette nearly jumps out of the car, "Geez, woman," I turn the car off and race after her. Soon we're in the darkest part of the forest. "This gives me the creeps..." Evette says, wrapping her arms around herself; I gently lay my hand on her lower back, "Let me go first." "What? You think I can't handle myself?" "Oh, I'm sure you can handle yourself; I'm worried about the person that might face your wrath," I said playfully; she gives me a satisfied look, "Good answer," she purrs as she walks pasts me, her lavender scent was making me want to lose it. But I held myself together, now was not the time. "Look!" Evette grabs m
