Chapter 47

My body suddenly feels numb, and my mind races. To the man who asked for my address to send girl scout cookies, and I gave him my parent's house address, “Oh no,” my knees give out, and I feel like I can barely breathe as the realization hits me, “I gave him their address…”

“Evette?” Atticus kneels beside me,” What's going on?”

I felt so blindsided. Patrick had appeared harmless to me, even skittish. But they found his fingerprints in my parent's house, “A late co-worker just told me who killed my parents,” I look at Atticus, “It’s my fault; I gave him the address to my parent's house instead of mine.” My eyes start to burn. I drop the phone, sobbing into my hands.

Atticus holds me; they must have been so scared. Soon my sadness and sorrow turn into me seeing red. I wanted him to pay for what he did to my parents. He had no right to take their lives.

“Who was this person?” Atticus asks. I wipe my tears. “His name is Patrick.”
