With his every kiss, Lyra felt drunk. With his touch, her body responded in a way that she never planned. The heat from her cheeks traveled all the way down to her entire body. It was too much for her to handle. Lyra was burning as if her fever was high enough to fry an egg on her bare skin. Her heart raced like she just ran a marathon, and it's not stopping any time soon.The little light that comes from a crevice between their black-out curtains was the only thing that let her catch a clear glimpse of reality. Zin excitedly entered the house with a bunch of paper bags filled with groceries. The sun just hid behind the mountains, leaving a beautiful tinge of orange in the sky. He was finally free of Raine's loud voice, which had been making his ears ring for days. The boy just got back from helping Raine settle into her new apartment unit. He had also taken care of the gang association problem that she had, paying the leader and hiring a bunch of security people to guard her. It was a lot, and he never really took these kinds of jobs. None of those were what he was supposed to be doing. However, he just couldn't say no to Derrick. Sure, they both know that they should not meddle with the lives of normal human beings, but somehow, he can't just do that. If Lyra had to choose between food and money, she would always choose food. No matter how poor she was before, she would still pick food. However, when Zin placed the bowl of green goo in front of her, she wanted to run away immediately. "It's super green," she commented, while faking a smile. She lifted up the spoon only to find strings of what looked like mucus. It made her wince, but she still tried to smell it. "It smells really sweet," she said. "It sure is sweet," said Zin. "Master poured the entire jar of sugar in it." Lyra's eyes widened upon hearing that. "Derrick helped you cook?" "He did, at least for the jello." "Jello?" She lifted up the entire bowl just to get a better sniff and look at it. "But it's goo." "Is it bad?" Derrick asked. Derreck's eyes almost begged for Lyra to say that whatever he made was delicious and perfect. He kept on watching her expression, biting his lips as he anticipated. "I haven't tasted it yet," she responded. "I bet it's really yummy!"
