An Old Journal

I reach home at eight twenty. I unfasten my seatbelt and arm my bag. Cain strokes my head and lights a kiss on my cheek. I smile and give him a kiss on the lips before I get off. I wait outside until his car disappears. I turn my back and walk towards my house. When I try to open the door, I realize it’s locked. I sigh. I take out my spare key.

I’m glad I always bring it. I unlock the door and step inside. The house is dark. I turn on the lights and drop my bag on the couch. I look around and then, walk towards the kitchen. I take a peak. The kitchen is dark too. I turn on the lights. Nobody seems to be at home. I catch a glimpse of a note attached on the fridge. I take it off and read it.

Dear Rosie, mom and dad are going on a date. It’s been a long time since we did it.  Anyway, I’ve cooked something for you. Love Mom.

PS. Aubrey came after you had gone with your bf. I told her you’re with a friend ;)
