Hiding Secrets

I wake up in shock. Cold sweats stream down to my body. I exhale a deep breath and wipe them off. I’m not quite sure what I was dreaming of to give me a shock. I look to the left. Aubrey is sleeping quietly while hugging a bolster. I sigh. It’s useless to wake her when she’s asleep.

I get down from my bed and reach for the curtain. I take a peak from the window. The night has fallen and it’s raining quite heavy. It was sunny in the morning. I guess it’s still rain in the summer. I close back the curtain and make my way to the stairs.

Although there’s the sound of television, the lights are off. I bet dad falls asleep on the couch while watching the TV. I walk slowly towards the couch. Yep, he’s there.
