I had dived right into a novel which Faith had been reading before I had come when I thought that Cain would be late. I’m the type of person who doesn’t pay attention to her surroundings when I’m reading. So, I didn’t notice his presence, meanwhile Faith was dumbfounded the moment she looks at him.
To be honest, it looks sort of funny when Faith peers at Cain’s outfit. It’s summer and he’s wearing a jacket like a freaking genius. However, she has to admit that the boy emits the kind of attraction that’s capable of turning everyone’s head without an exception. And just by seeing him like this, it sends a jolt at Faith’s heart. Thus, it gets her so excited when she knows it’s Cain, the guy whom Rosie’s waiting for. It’s because he’s been looking around the moment he enters the library. When his eyes settle on the front desk, he looks for a while before heading toward Faith’s direction.<My mind is still in a daze after I have given my number to Cain. I don’t even remember spelling it. I only realize it was finished when he says, “Thank you.”“Here,” he returns my phone.“Ah, okay…” I subconsciously reach out to take it back. After that, we’re back to square one – strangers, or maybe not? But, we stay in silence with neither of us having any attention to speak. He merely props his hand under his chin while looking at the window to the view outside. There isn’t a hint of him leaving. For some reason, I don’t feel like breaking the silence either. Instead of feeling awkward, I find it settling like a cool breeze in the middle of autumn, as though we’re stargazing. Then, from the corner of my eyes, I caught on Faith smirking my way, giggling like a four years old. I flush in embarrassment. In the end, I decided to leave. However, before I can tell him, Cain speaks up first.
After we’re done with the food, we call for the bill. My pupils tremble when I see the total amount. This is the end. I should’ve known it would be expensive. Why didn’t my brain work before? I just obediently followed him to the restaurant. Nevertheless, I prepare myself to split the bill when Cain suddenly take away the bill and give the waiter his card.“Wait, I can’t let you pay!” I exclaim. It’s too expensive and I don’t want to be called a gold digger. If I can still pay, I won’t rely on someone else. I know that he’s rich since he lives in Bloomingdale. But, it doesn’t give me the rights to take advantage of that.“Don’t worry about it. I’m the guy anyway,” he says. I purse my lips at his chivalry that sounds more like gender stereotype.“So what if you’re a guy?” I’m unamused. He shakes his head in helplessness. “Never mind. Just take it
As I lay awake on the bed, I feel the trembling in my heart. A sweet tingling that I cannot ignore. His words keep replaying in my mind over and over again.“Then, get to know me better.”The corner of my lips unconsciously arch. Now, it’s simply a mission impossible to erase him from my thoughts. Every few seconds, Cain would haunt my mind and I will submerge into a daydream thinking about the way he looked at me, his blue eyes peering into my grey ones, and every line of his facial will pull into a soft smile.I think I might be going crazy soon if I don’t stop myself early. But then again, it doesn’t seem so bad to have Cain inhabits my head if I get to feel this happy. Everything seems to glow, sparkling like a giant box of jewelry. So, this is how love feels like. And not just love but mutual attraction. Like a double dose of martinis. It got me lightheaded and hovering in bliss.I look at the clock. It’s ten. I shou
This morning came with a warm sunlight seeping into the room. I didn’t pull my blackout curtain but welcome the day with a big smile. No alarm needed to stir me awake. I didn’t even linger on my bed for long but get up quickly for a good bath. Humming myself while I brush my teeth and swing my towel in a merry dance, then I saunter down into the tub, soaking my body in a fragrance bath. It’s rose bath bomb today with a bubble bar as a companion. While I enjoy myself with the bath, I put on some groovy music which I sing along to while blowing bubbles into the air. They float, filling every corner of my bathroom, from the ceiling to the floor. Thus, the moment I finish, everything has turned into a massive disaster. But, that is the least of my concern. In fact, I don’t mind cleaning it all up. After that, I didn’t stop for a casual outfit but goes straight towards the hanger where I put all of my fancy clothes. Most of them are dresses and co
“Morning, Gorgeous. You’re looking more and more beautiful each day,” Faith teases me. She winks flirtatiously. “Don’t tease me like that!” I say while blushing like a roasted crab.“What I said is true. You used to not care of your appearance and just roll with jeans and shirts. But, these days you’ve been very careful with your outfits. I love your present style. Keep it up!” She explains. I laugh. She’s really sweet.“Or perhaps, this is the power of love? I must say your taste is high. Your man is really manly and handsome. He’s hot.”Her comment makes me frown. “No, we’re not like that. But, you’re right about the handsome part. How did you know?”“You can pretty much guess it if you’re experienced in love. Sadly, you don’t have any. I wonder if you ever figure it out when you fall in love with him in the future.”Ba-thump.
I yawn when I’ve finally reached the end of the book. I’m done, I think to myself. I turn and look at Cain. He’s still sleeping. I raise my right hand which he’s still holding on to tightly. I smile when I look at our hands are together. After a while, I put our hands down.I wonder what time it is, I think to myself. I take out my phone from my bag. It is six. I’m starving. I think I’ll wake him now. I take a deep breath before I wake him. It’s hard to face him when he’s not wearing his hood. His face always makes my heart races. When I’ve settled, I touch his shoulder.“Cain?” I call. I forget he’s hard to be awakened. I shake him a little.“Cain!” I raise my voice a little. He moves his shoulders. Finally. He lifts his head and takes down his hood. He rubs his eyes and then looks at me. I smile and tidy his hair. Wow. His hair is so smooth, I think to myself.“You’r
After dinner, we stroll around the neighborhood. Cain is holding my hand as he walks in front of me. He doesn’t pull his hood up. There are girls that stare at us but he doesn’t seem to be bothered. We keep walking. The clock has pointed at seven fifteen. We don’t have any plan after dinner. However, I don’t feel like going home at all. I still want to be with him. We keep strolling down the street. Suddenly, he stops and turns his back.“Do you want to hang out a little bit more?” He asks. My face brightens up. I nod. He giggles. “Okay. Where do you want to go?” I roll my eyes.“The beach? I’ve never been gone to the beach at night before. I’d like to try it once.” I say. He smiles and strokes my small rosy cheek. Then, he turns around and walks again. I blush. He pulls my hand slowly so I walk beside him. We walk side to side in silence back to Carmelia Street. It only takes us about fifteen minutes.
It’s been a long time since I have a nice sleep. I stretch out my body when my vision has come to focus. I sit up. My eyes are still tired. So, I doze off for a while. Suddenly, my alarm rings startling me. I jump out of my bed. I click my tongue when I realize it’s the alarm.I turn it off then stretch out my hands into the air. After that, I grab my towel and head to my bathroom. I stop when I step into the bathroom. I tilt my body and stare at the clock. It’s seven. I look up. I still have time to soak in the tub, I think to myself. So, I do my usual morning routine. After I’ve done with my bath, I walk out and head to my closet. I put on my black underwear and a black bra. After that, I put on the black lace dress which I bought yesterday. Then, I dry my hair and comb it. When it’s dried, I sit in front of my makeup table and braid my long fringe half way than clip the end of it with bobby pin.Half past nine, I think to myself. I put
