She took a shaky breath, her skin pale."He would torture me while whispering that he loved me and no one else would. I believed him because the truth was the only people who ever loved me were my parents, and I barely remembered them."

I smiled. At least she got my back in that aspect. " So how did you escape?"

She took a deep breath before continuing her story." I escaped five times; each time he caught me, and then he'd beat me up, tie me to a chair in the basement for days without food."

She shuddered." I had nightmares about it sometimes. He'll mark me, cutting through my flesh with a pocket knife."

She pulled on her blouse, raising it above her torso." I forgot I have scars because I suppressed my memories." She spoke pointing at a cut on her abdomen."

My eyes widened; I had noticed and thought it was maybe a usual scar.

"And this was at our engagement party; I don't know how he got in, but he was there." She pointed at that tiny cut I asked her about on our wedding night.
