Chapter Four

“Who are you?” Jasmine asked with fear surging through her. This man before her looked nothing like anything good. If you judged by his multiple tattoos and the soft faraway look on his face, Jasmine felt like taking the easy way out of her apartment. His features looked soft but it was doing more of scaring her than making her actually calm. She didn’t want to die just like her mom.

Her carelessness and forgetfulness was the reason her mum and this might be her fate too.

Instead of answering her question, he takes time to tear apart the rose flower he was holding. He removed each petals with a soft smile and he hummed to a tune Jasmine has never heard before. The sound was soft and calming, something she hadn’t felt in months.

“Call me peace, I bring that to people.” He said softly and she scoffed. If someone covered in tattoos could preach peace, then the men that killed her mom could be mistaken as popes. He didn’t find her scoff amusing so he continued ripping apart the flowers.

“I thought you brought that for me, why are you tearing them apart.” She asked and he looked up at her before flashing her a smile. He took the last petal away from the thorn and he smiled. She rolled her eyes before she walked to the fridge to grab another beer. This man sitting in her siting room made no sense and nothing made sense in her own life. She was getting used to nothing making sense to her anymore. She turned around and he was no longer sitting where he was, he was close to her and that alone made her scared.

"Hey, don't you be scared, I brought you a rose!" The strange man who stood by the door spoke. He stretched his hands to give her another rose. She had thought he tore them to bits and him producing her another one felt like a cheap magic thrills.

Axel has the power to read minds, being a Devil; it's a neat trick up his sleeves.

He felt when her heart jolted, He felt her fear and her shock. She stood like a log

Is it because I am irresistible? I know I can be what the ladies want but this silence isn't something that should take this long, she isn't even stuttering. What gives?!

He stared in her eyes and watched her. Her mind was blank, not a question she asked herself or an expression she wore.

She sighed and folded her arms, she seemed fearless.

I like fearless. He nodded when he saw she changed her stance.

"Thanks for the drinks, now who are you?" She asked as she sat down, Jasmine didn't care who he was or what he did. She didn't even say thank you, she took out a bear and dropped her bag. With her teeth she opened the beer and took a gulp.

"Well!" Axel wasn't completely surprised but I would say he didn't expect that at all. He closed the door and stood to watch her.

"Ahhh" She said when she took the bottle out of her mouth. "So what did you say your name was again?" She asked, her legs were on her table, she removed her shoes when he looked away.

"Hades, my name is Hades" He lied about his name, he didn't have a reason to lie, he just wanted to….for the fun of it.

"Hade! That's a nice name now what are you looking for in my house?" She asked it seems she wanted to have a conversation this time.

"Oh wow, that was direct; wasn't it?" He asked her calmly while he smiled; he liked how calm she was.

She seemed prettier. "That dark cloud has disappeared." He thought to himself.

He has spent nights watching her sleep and days watching her wake up, he saw how she would enter the bus and ride to work, the same coffee that she always ordered. She wore the same face everyday, she wore the same cloth for a week and carried the sake bag, the bottles of bear was always changed but she never noticed, some nights the pizza would be steaming hot which he was the reason. And some cold nights that she slept without a blanket, she would wake up to one.

"I did say I was your peace after all; so that's why I am here. Didn't you notice how neat your home is? Or how nice they smell? Your outfits? Can't you see how arranged it is?" Hades asked Jasmine who seemed to have zoned off.

"So you are a what? Home services? Thanks for beer." She replied coldly, without a smile. She was sarcastic.

"An home service?" You must be kidding!" He growled and fumed, he took deep breathes and laughed it off.

"You wanted to be my peace, buying me drinks was enough the whole cleaning was just Being extra!" Jasmine added with a smirk, she finished the first bottle and was going to the next.

"Alright, calm down on that." Hades spoke and grabbed her by the hand, he only wanted to take the bottle away. He didn't know what activated; they teleported together.

In seconds they appeared at a park. Hades closed his eyes and opened them, he wondered what happened. He gulped softly.

"What? What just happened? We went out?" Jasmine asked as she realised they weren't at her house anymore, the touch made her drunk side disappear, he calmed her down but it had another effect.

"Yeah, you said you were feeling stuffy, so we went for a ride; you intentionally and decided for us to come to the park!" He lied for the second time. He sighed when he did.

He wondered what activated his teleportation powers.

Was it because she was drunk? Or was it the rose? What just happened?

He felt a surge of energy when he touched her and when they teleported.

"Was it she? Did she wanted to come to the park?"

Unsure of what happened, he waved the thought away

"I don't remember wanting to come to the park." Jasmine explained when she felt confused.

"I already explained, you don't believe me?" Hades asked her as he stood in front of her.

"I don't trust you!' Her tone suddenly changed. He felt she became stronger.

"What's wrong? Why did you stand up?" He asked when she saw how strange she acted.

"And who changed my clothes?" She folded her arms taking him for a pervert, he laughed it off.

"Relax, you picked out your clothes!" He lied and held her hands, another mistake.

"You are a liar!" She yelled.

He removed his hands when he felt a surge of electricity. He folded his hands behind him and two steps.

"You can't defend yourself! Can you?" Jasmine yelled off and stomped her foot.

"Woman!" Would you calm down?" He said without a thought, he was angry. His other side came out.

His wings!

Her eyes widened, she lost all words, her senses failed her, her words did too.
