Chapter 5---Controlling Hala

Xander

As I watched the so called friends of my mate leave, I regretted not creating a law against cheating. They looked like they regretted it but I know they will do it again. Soon.

Selfishly, I was happy that that coward didn't touch my mate and the mating ceremony was called off but I know that it hurt my mate. I don't like seeing her hurt. It was also insulting, my mate was goddamn perfect and anyone who couldn't see that was a fool.

I've known she was mine the moment she turned eighteen. It was too late then, she was already in love with Damien and her link wasn't good enough to sense me as her mate.

Hala, my wolf started pacing, he has been on an edge since she barged into my office with flashing eyes and red cheeks.

It was hard to keep him from tearing Carlson apart limbs by limbs but I managed…rather, he calmed down a bit after realizing that I also wanted to kill my supposed right hand man.

Leila was outside the door, her scent came in with the breeze. It calmed Hala down. There was no scent of fear just wistfulness.

She must have met her friends at the door.

“Alpha” said Regan as he entered, his head lowered. His mate Marenza was behind him, holding my mate's wrists.

“Marenza, how is her throat?”

“The healing process has begun Alpha, I gave her somethings that will heal and also sooth the throat.”

“Will those marks stay?”

“No, they won't scar Alpha.”

“Thank you Marenza, Regan. I will like to talk to Leila alone.”

“Of course Alpha” Regan said and led his wife out.

I ignored the curious look on Marenza’s face, let her think what she wants to.

Leila played with her fingers, watching the floor with so much interest and her signature flushed cheeks. Cute.

I got up and walked to the front of my desk, leaned on it and crossed my arms.

“Can you talk without your throat hurting?”

“Yes Alpha.” Her voice was still hoarse but it was better than it was this afternoon.

“Are you scared of me Leila?”

“Anyone with survival instincts should be scared of you Alpha.”

I chuckled, “are you going to look at the floor through out our conversation?”

How red can she get? She looked up, her gaze stopping at my chest.

“Eyes are higher than that darling.”

Fuck, does she get red everywhere? I banished the image my sex deprived mind conjured to the depth of my brain. This is not the time for that.

Hala chuckled, enjoying my current situation.

‘Why are you acting like she doesn't affect you?’ I asked Hala.

‘She does but I'm satisfied with her scent.’

‘Lucky…’

Leila's green eyes finally met mine. Her gaze didn't waver. A small smile danced on my lips, she may be shy but when she tapped into that hidden confidence, she held it firmly. It was sexy.

“Good. Come sit, I don't bite.”

Leila laughed, “some people may argue with you.”

“Those people are guilty of something…” I pulled out a chair for her, “...are you guilty of something Leila?”

Sitting, a frown appeared on her face.

“Yes, I think I am. I said things I wasn't supposed to say to my father. If I kept my mouth shut, he won't have done what he did.” Her delicate hand touched her throat.

“That's not an excuse. He is not supposed to treat you like that. Did you lie against him?”

“No…”

“I see, you told him the truth he doesn't want to hear. Leila, I can't make you forgive him with pretty words but I can assure you that the moment he did it, his regret began immediately.”

“Then why didn't he stop?” She whispered.

“Carlson let himself get ruled by his emotions. That's why.”

“And if I don't want to forgive him?” Her voice was still small but she didn't break eye contact with me.

“That's fine. I'm not urging you to, I just don't want you making decisions that you may regret like he did.”

Leila nodded, “thank you. While Marenza was helpful by being supportive and treating the issue casually, you answered the questions in my head…Alpha…” she blushed like she just remembered who I was.

I chuckled.

“You're welcome. Do you want anything? Have you eaten?”

Just then her stomach grumbled. Her constant blush achieved a new level! Her whole ears were red.

Leila shifted her gaze.

“That's my answer” I replied to myself.

“Sorry…”

“Don't bother, it's natural. Come.”

I led her to my kitchen.

My office was the backroom in my large house. The pack wanted to build a separate building for me but I refused. This arrangement was convenient for me.

“Have a seat.”

Leila nodded, her attention on the decor of my house. I looked around, trying to see the house like someone who didn't live here would.

It's okay…large and neat.

“Chicken soup will be okay right?”

“Can you please just bring out the ingredients? I'll cook.”

“Nonsense. You're a first time visitor and you want to cook?”

“But, you're the Alpha of our pack…”

“And as the Alpha, I command you to seat down and let me cook for you…”

“Okay.”

“What do you want to do? You don't have a mate at the moment, do you want to work or start looking immediately?” I asked as I started cooking.

“Work…I'll like to start helping Marenza in her workshop. If possible, I will like to leave my father's house.”

“And a mate?”

“I don't want to think about that right now.”

That's good in a way. There has been talks about a lost temple of the goddess recently found in the east and the relics it contains.

I will have to start asking around, there has to be something I can use to help her link get better. For her safety and for my heart.

“Are you always this kind or do you just feel pity for me?”

I stopped and turned to face her. Her gaze met mine.

“I do not feel pity for you. I am kind but I do not tolerate a lot of things, that's why people see me as harsh. A leader should be kind and considerate, if not they'll just be a tyrant.”

Leila smile

d, “thank you Alpha.”

I nodded, “I've changed my mind, come and help me with this.”

She laughed, her eyes bright with happiness. “Okay Alpha.”

  • The Divine Luna Awakening    Chapter 110----- Epilogue

Hera's Pov A beautiful field of lavender had grown since the last time I was here. Selen, even in death you still do beautiful things. I sat beside the small red brick that was covered by the flowers and dirt, the only reason I found it was because I placed it there. It served as a headstone for the one that created it.My lips moved into a small smile as the memory of Selene's stunned then proud face on the day she created it appeared in my mind. She had burnt her hand in the process but she smiled and said it was worth it.“Selen. I'm sorry, I've not come to visit for too long. A lot of things have happened, Antonio is dead. Unfortunately, he took some people with him but we were able to save more.”I dusted the dirt off the stone with my fingers, wondering if I should pull out the flowers around it or not.“The children are all big now. Somehow, Liam is with me. Yes, I didn't talk about it with you beforehand but I know you'll approve. Leila is a mom now, she's got twins and they'

  • The Divine Luna Awakening    Chapter 109----Happy Pack

Leila's Pov Things have been a whirlwind recently. Everyone was busy or caught up in something, it has been a while since we sat down together to relax not to talk about the packs welfare. The move had gone smoothly. As expected, some people had decided to stay behind. They were mostly elderly that were bound by memories the land held. Some of their family members bound by duty decided to stay with them.Sonia didn't come with us.She did apologize before we left but fortunately, she didn't try to build any relationship or try to force a conversation. I have moved on from the past but that didn't mean that I wanted anything to do with it. Ash did follow, he pledged his loyalty to Xander but I think he's actually loyal to Hera. So far, he's been nothing but a great help but I was still watching. My trust was something that was hard to earn now“Hey Luna!” Grey shouted from the door. I smiled and waved.I watched him walk towards me. The limp was almost non-existent by now and his wolf

  • The Divine Luna Awakening    Chapter 108----Alone With My Lover

Xander's PovI lifted my stunning mate into my arms and made my way to our room wordlessly. I really only wanted a kiss at first but teasing her felt really good and the next thing, she was rubbing her body on me like she was in heat.Luckily, no one interrupted us and I reached our room. Leila slid down my body, I swallowed a groan at the feelings she evoked with that move.“On your knees baby.”Watching her, I calmly studied my body. There wasn't any symptoms of my rut coming, neither was I in rut at the moment. But for some reason, all I had in my head were thoughts of keeping Leila on my cock, filling her with my pops and killing anyone that looked at her in a funny way.My thoughts died at the sight of Leila on her knees, her pretty eyes staring hungrily at my cock and her pink tongue coming out to trace her lower lips before disappearing.Goddess, she was stunning. She blinked and looked at me, probably feeling the weight of my stare.“You're the most beautiful creature the Godd

  • The Divine Luna Awakening    Chapter 107------I Want That Boy

Leila's Pov I stood beside Xander, sending waves of support through our bond. This decision was difficult for him to make but it was the right one.Due to my powers and Marenza’s skills, healing has been a rapid process for everyone here. The food issue was getting better because everyone was pulling their weight and the general crowd looked a lot better than they did a few days ago although malnourished looks couldn't disappear in a matter of weeks.“Good morning,” Xander greeted and the small sounds seized.“Antonio is dead.” The pack froze, their disbelief clear on their face and so was their hope and relief.“I know that it's too soon to ask this but there's no need to be overly cautious or scared. Things will only get better from now on.”It started from a sniffle, it was easy to hear the sound coming from my right in the silence. Soon, the air was filled with crying and wailing from the pack, words of gratitude were also in the mix.“No,” Xander sighed and fell on his knees stu

  • The Divine Luna Awakening    Chapter 106----The Pack's Fate

Xander's PovThis whole ordeal has been stressful on my mate. It was obvious in the amount of weight she had lost but that won't last for long. Her squirming drew my gaze down to her body, sun rays filtered through the curtains and landed on her face. She hadn't opened her eyes but I could see her moving them.Smiling at her cute antics, I gently tucked her into the safety of my chest, away from the sun. She relaxed moments later and I went back to my thoughts. There's lot to be done concerning the packs. I had three packs under my control and moving them to one location is too risky. Most of them won't be comfortable moving from all they know especially Antonio's pack. We may have rescued them but that doesn't mean that they trust us. There's also the probability that some people actually liked his reign and harbour some resentment against us.Leaving them as they are would mean that the people I have come to recognize as family would be separated. I don't think my mate and I are rea

  • The Divine Luna Awakening    Chapter 105----- What's Going On Between Grey And Damien

Leila's Pov The surprised expressions on everyone's faces confused me. I'll ask Xander later, for now, Grey was tired. It was very obvious but his effort in hiding it was applaudable.I also didn't miss the look between him and Damien that I walked in on.“Alright. I'm satisfied with Grey's alive state. Let's give him chance to rest. Hera apply whatever you need to and Damien watch over him till he falls asleep.”‘Meddler,’ Lea accused.‘Like you aren't curious about the relationship between them.’‘I admit nothing.’Xander smirked, “you did good today Damien. Don't forget to also get some rest.”“Yes Alpha.”“The concoction isn't ready yet, give it an hour or two,” Hera said. “I'll check your bandages then.”“Thank the Goddess,” Grey murmured, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear.Xander and I laughed.“You little shit,” teased Hera with a smile on her face.“Don't insult the recovering patient,” Grey pouted. “Didn't your master teach you that?”“My master also taught me a lot
