Mag-log inKathryn's Pov
I felt dizzy and nauseous letting the faint scent of medicine and sweat engulf my nostrils, my body was on fire, it ached so bad that I couldn't even move, the pain shot up to my stomach before it glided towards my head and eyes as soon as I tried to open my swollen eyes. It hurt so damn much! I had never experienced such bodily pain, it was almost unbearable and mentally I felt exhausted until my hand due to the old habit went to my stomach wanting to feel the bump.
But I felt nothing.
My stomach was flat letting my ribs slightly brush my hand as well which I hadn't felt for the past few months. My eyes shot up ignoring the strike of pain erupting in my head increasing the ache in it due to the blinding lights filling the room. My eyes didn't care to look around and was stopped right before my flat stomach, my breathing paused and heart jumped against my chest terribly when the realization slowly started seeping in me even though I wanted to deny it.
I was in a hospital, my hand which was placed on my stomach had an IV attached to it looking way more paler than it had ever been. Blood drained from my system making me numb for a few seconds before the door of the room was ajar opened revealing an old woman who had a subtle smile on her face almost looking sympathetic with me.
"M-My baby," I didn't even notice how constricted and tight my throat was devoid of any water for God knows how long until I spoke. But I didn't care, right now I wanted to hear only a few words.
My baby was alright, and I had a premature delivery, I wouldn't mind it, it would at least keep my sanity intact. But my hopes crashed like fragile mirror meeting the hard surface shattering all over the place when the old woman slightly shook her head pulling her specs off her eyes. Her eyes were filled with pity and sadness.
"I am sorry, we tried our best to save the child but the fall was brutal, also your health wasn't at greatest as well which made it way more harder for us to save him." My world crashed and eyes instantly pooled with the river of tears when the truth was finally slapped on my face.
"No." A small whisper escaped my lips as I hugged my stomach even more shaking my head, no, my son! Oh my poor son! He was my last hope! I stayed and endured his father's indifference, this world's cruelty just for him, just for my son.
A cracked cry escaped my lips and the next second I didn't even realise when a scream filled with terror and pain shot out of my lips making the doctor instantly yell for the nurse to bring a sedate, I didn't care, I didn't hear, I just needed my son. I ripped the IV off my hand wanting to see my son, I didn't believe her, he couldn't leave me. We had so many longest conversations of what we will do after his birth, he always responded and showed his enthusiasm through his gentle kicks.
Then how could he leave me just like that? No! I refused to believe it, I got off the bed only for someone to hug my body stopping me from leaving the room, "Ma'am please," Rory's concerned voice entered my ears as his strong arms kept my already weak body on the spot before forcefully laying me back on the bed.
"No! Rory let me go to my son! Please I beg you! Let me go!" I cried out joining my hands in front of him to let me go, I didn't miss the tears falling from his eyes as he shook his head refusing my pleading.
The next thing I knew was an injection being pierced through my arm and I was forced to sleep once again.

Rory stepped back wiping the tears from his cheek, he couldn't stand watching the woman who gave him the life he was living today in this condition. This lovely, lively and innocent woman deserved the world yet she was reduced to this point just because of her ill fate of being handed towards an unworthy asshole.
Rory always respected Karl Salazar as his boss but he disliked him greatly for the way he treated and neglected his wife. Rory was younger than Kathryn, he was 19 when he first met her, she was all alone in the middle of the night looking scared and terrified by the possible horrifying outcome that would have happened because of her being alone there. He was walking there homeless, Rory did a few part time jobs that time but none of them were enough to let him rent a place so he stayed on the road until he met her.
He helped her reach her mansion where she admitted that she was actually new to this city and got lost. She went out on her own ditching the guards but her adventurous tour came to an end when she realised she spent every penny and she forgot to bring her card. She didn't even think of hiring a cab driver and paying him after reaching her home which made her embarrassed at her foolishness after Rory reminded her of that possibility.
She questioned him a few things and got to know that he was two years younger than her, and was homeless. That night he was given a job of a driver and she even made her husband give him a small apartment near the mansion saving his number claiming that she could call him if she had to go somewhere urgently which never happened before until last night.
Rory still remember how he found her, laid on the carpeted floor with her blood coating the surface, suspiciously the door of the room was shut close so her voice of help couldn't go out. He was sure someone deliberately did it, it was a planned act or maybe a planned attempt of murder as well if he hadn't stopped at the convenience store near the mansion to buy himself a few things, God knows what might had happened. He feared even thinking about the possibility.
Rory owed this woman his life, she had pulled him out of the pit of poverty and possible track of drug addiction, self ruination and guided him towards a better secure life. He had his own house, a perfect salary and an understanding employers who never discarded any of his needs. She gave him the life he could have only imagined two years ago.
Rory felt more tears sliding down his eyes watching her pale face, she looked ghostly numb and terrified. He didn't like seeing her this way, her gentle and sweet innocence was a fresh breath of air. She didn't deserve this, he had seen her finally looking lively and smiling happily after she got pregnant which made him think that Karl was finally treating her better. She had never done anything wrong, a pure, beautiful and sweet woman like her didn't deserve this much pain.
Rory once again pulled his phone out to call his boss' secretary whose number was the only one he had but his finger soon enough paused. His enraged eyes and stiff body language conveyed the disgust and disappointment he felt for his boss. He always defended Karl and gave Kathryn advises to make her marriage work through communication, dates or anything else as he knew divorce was out of question but right now, he actually wished for her to leave this spineless man.
He just didn't deserve her.
Rory had Kathryn's phone in his other hand and not so surprisingly he had seen the calls she had made to him as it was left unlocked when he arrived there. Her dozens of calls and Karl only sent her a few messages after almost 3 hours which Rory didn't read respecting her privacy, he wouldn't had seen the call history if it wasn't for her phone to display everything on its own.
Rory did try to call Karl's secretary last night but same as Karl, that man didn't answer Rory's calls as well. And now at this time when there was no need for that man Rory just didn't feel the urge to make a call anymore. Not until Kathryn herself would want to meet him, Rory switched off Kathryn's phone letting her husband have a taste of his own medicines for the first time while he silenced his phone not answering any of the missed calls he got from Karl's secretary.
After a few hours, Kathryn once again woke up but fortunately this time she didn't break down like the last time, instead she looked straight at the lady doctor who stared at her in concern, "My son, I want to see him." Her hoarse heavy voice echoed in the room making the doctor glance at Rory who gulped nodding his head like he was giving her some kind of approval.
"Don't get up, let me help you," His low and gentle voice met her ears making her look at him for a few seconds before she nodded her head.
He placed his hand over her back before wrapping other arm under her knees and picking her up making her wrap her arms around his neck, the man stiffened for a few seconds when he noticed her eyes tearing up once again. Gulping down he walked towards the morgue almost stepping away not wanting her to see her premature baby who died right after an hour of birth.
The doctors indeed tried their best to save the baby, they even kept him on ventilator to look forward to any chances of improvement but even after being on life support, the baby's condition deteriorated badly and he died right on the ventilator. Rory gently put her on her legs but held her shoulders to provide her support.
She walked near the small body of her newborn son laid in one of the small box, she walked near him pushing Rory's hands and the moment she reached the little body of her late son, her cries instantly filled the room. She hugged the dead body and cried while holding it near her chest letting the tough man standing there also shed tears at her misery.
Kathryn never thought, the life she wanted to give her son, with his mother and father it would become the reason of him not having a life in the first place. The realization came too late, and she knew regret would be deeper than that, he was killed by the people his father trusted, it was his ill fate that she was his mother and Karl Salazar was his father.
If only she was a little brave, only if she wasn't this late, maybe just maybe her son would have been saved.

She waited years for him to hold her heart. Now all she wanted was to be free of it.Kathryn's PovI had no idea what was wrong with me, I was never this weak, this given up then what was actually wrong with me? I couldn't sleep, each time I tried closing my eyes I could see my son, my husband's indifference and my own bloody form. I had no idea until when I would actually be able to close my eyes like before and sleep the night away. My heart was crumbling and soul wrenching each time I thought about the tiny frame I held for the first time in my arms but it was nothing like I imagined. He didn't open his eyes, he didn't smile, he didn't even make a slightest noise. He just left me, without a single noise, look and touch.I never thought the motherhood I craved for years would be snatched away from me this viciously, what was even my fault? Just because I was married to Karl Salazar, the man she was obsessed with, was it really my fault that? Yes, everyone already knew who was the cu
He found the truth too late, She had been living it alone all along.Author's Pov Karl walked inside the place where Rory asked him to come, his tired red eyes covered with shades fell on the woman kneeling on the floor in front of a small casket, his heart instantly restricted at the sight before he let his heavy steps near them. As expected his wife was crying while laying her head on the closed head of the casket, his little son was trapped in it and there was nothing he could do to bring him out. There was a massive reason why Karl wore shades in such an occasion, his eyes were burning red with the tears he had stuffed in them not freeing them. He was a cautious man, he would never let anyone see him being vulnerable, he had learned this art of hiding his sadness years ago. Clutching his hands into tight fists he leaned closer to the head which showed his newborn son's face as he whispered solemnly only for him to hear."Farewell, my champ." No one heard him, not even the woman s
Author's PovKarl's whole body went numb after hearing the cold response from Rory who had never before even dared to raise his head in front of him. Rory was always respectful towards his boss despite Karl's disliking towards him for some unknown reasons, but this was the first time when he actually behaved and stared at his boss like he was some kind of a pest he wanted to crush under his foot."Dead?" He whispered in astonishment, how could it be? He still remember he had seen her just yesterday, she was all good and healthy maybe a little tired but he had watched her sitting in the car and leaving the venue before he went out of the city for some urgent work."It's impossible!" He rasped not wanting to believe what he had just told him, he had his every enemy on leash, he knew no one would dare to attack his wife, there was no one to harm her then how?"I got her call in the middle of the night," Rory told him everything, he might had exaggerated a few things just to spite this ma
Kathryn's PovAfter sleeping for another few hours, the very first view I got after waking up was Rory sitting on the couch with his head resting on his fisted hand, he was fast asleep. My heart thumped in guilt watching him trying to gather a little sleep in such a painful position. He had been here with me from yesterday and haven't left even for a second, God knows if he even had eaten anything or not like me.Just when I held my body up to sit up, a small hiss escaped my lips at an electric sting I felt on my hand making my attention to divert towards it. After sitting up against the pillow my eyes paused over the shining ring still cradled in my finger, it was quiet surprising that the doctors didn't remove it or maybe they slipped it in my finger after the surgery۔ I never felt burdened over this ring in my whole two years before in this marriage the way I was feeling right now. It felt like something bitter stuck in my throat and wasn't ready to slip down. My hand felt numb, I

Kathryn's PovA weird wave of warmth and envy spread over my heart watching the lovely couple smiling towards each other, I didn't want to be jealous, I never was a type to get jealous easily yet this very moment the beautiful bond my new friend and her husband shared mocked me openly even though the poor duo didn't even have the slightest idea of what I had been through for the past two years.Cyril Sokolov, the notorious mob boss ruling over Russia and a very rare man who shared a good bond with my husband, Karl and Cyril had a long history of being business partners and good friends after he brought Italian alliance in Germany as well boosting Karl's business and name even more. Karl had connections with underground and I knew it really well, I didn't really care about such details as my foster father had worked in such businesses too. There wasn't a much difference between them when it came to business and success yet they were completely poles apart if compared their personal liv
