Karl's whole body went numb after hearing the cold response from Rory who had never before even dared to raise his head in front of him. Rory was always respectful towards his boss despite Karl's disliking towards him for some unknown reasons, but this was the first time when he actually behaved and stared at his boss like he was some kind of a pest he wanted to crush under his foot.
"Dead?" He whispered in astonishment, how could it be? He still remember he had seen her just yesterday, she was all good and healthy maybe a little tired but he had watched her sitting in the car and leaving the venue before he went out of the city for some urgent work.
"It's impossible!" He rasped not wanting to believe what he had just told him, he had his every enemy on leash, he knew no one would dare to attack his wife, there was no one to harm her then how?
"I got her call in the middle of the night," Rory told him everything, he might had exaggerated a few things just to spite this man, he detailed whole incident of how he found Kathryn laying in the pool of her own blood unconscious and helpless.
"Miscarriage," Karl whispered fearing the obvious but Rory discarded his claim pointing at the doubt he had in him from the time he rescued Kathryn.
"The door of the room was shut close, and I even found something slimey on the floor when I reached there, even I almost slipped, I don't know if I am correct but it seemed like," He raised his dark narrowed eyes at Karl's pained emerald ones before hitting right where it hurt the giant the most.
"It was a planned miscarriage, or a planned attempt of murder. And Mr. Salazar someone in your mansion did it." Karl's breathing got caught in his throat for a few seconds before he blinked blind minded.
I don't feel safe around Every.
Karl, can you arrange another place for your guests? I just feel uncomfortable around them.
Karl, I never asked anything from you, please this is the first time I am asking you to get either them or me away from the mansion, I am not having good feeling about Every.
Karl palmed his forehead as her concerned sentences started making more sense than he had ever gave attention to, the way she kept on telling him how much of a bad vibes she was getting from Every always annoyed the fuck out of him. He thought it was her jealousy and dislike towards Every speaking but never had he once regarded her concern anything as important.
He shook his head right away, it was just a doubt, Every and his cousin knew better to try and harm his wife. He already had warned them once to not disturb his wife during their stay there, there was no way they could try to go against his words as they knew what kind of a bloodthirsty monster he was. It was so hard to believe that someone actually went against him.
His bloodshot gaze steadily got replaced with murderous look as he glared at the floor holding many unsaid promises. He hoped that Kathryn's concern proved to be wrong otherwise, his hands curled into tight fists, their end wouldn't just be a simple death, he will make sure to make whoever did this to his wife beg for his mercy, but he would be damned if he gave any.
"Boss," Karl snapped out of his thoughts looking at his secretary as well as his right hand man who motioned him towards the doctor who stepped out of his wife's ward making him instantly step forward but weirdly the woman looked at Rory showing expressions of concern.
"Is she alright?" Rory questioned with the amount of worry which Karl didn't appreciate, he knew Rory only was being worried for her as she was his saviour years back but this still burned him in jealousy.
"She's fine for now," This made him frown deeply, why the fuck she was telling his wife's condition to the fucking driver and wasn't even glancing in his way?
"She had a panic attack, it would be better to keep the things away from her which can trigger her and she might suffer panic attack again, she just had lost her child, she needs a lot of care and comfort right now," Karl carefully listened to the doctor biting his inner cheek, he didn't want to admit but somewhere he knew what had triggered her.
"Kindly make sure you do as your wife wants right now." Her last sentence made the bulky man snap his head up, for a millisecond he thought she was telling him but her eyes were still on Rory.
Wife? What the fuck? Karl glared at the doctor who had already left the men there, even his secretary had his jaw laying on the floor. Was Rory an idiot? Why the hell would he tell the doctors he was Kathryn's husband? Mr. Salazar would slice him alive. The secretary gulped and as expected the next second Rory's body was laying on the floor as a hard punch landed on his well maintained face.
The young man yelped in surprise, he looked up only for his collar to be tugged up making his body jerk up, Rory was a frail young man, he started gym just a few months ago and wasn't really crazy about muscles and all. While Karl was a well build man who had worked on his body from the time he turned 15, he was a giant compared to Rory and could overpower the young man easily, Rory grabbed his wrists glaring at Karl showing no fear for the strong man instead he just gritted his teeth in pain trying to push Karl's immovable body away.
"Wife? The fuck she meant asshole!" Karl's whole body trembled in anger as he almost chocked the young man to death if it wasn't for his secretary who spoke cautiously.
"Boss, let's hear him out, madam wouldn't appreciate if anything happened to him!" The moment Kathryn was mentioned, Karl's grip on Rory's collar loosened as the young man coughed pushing his body away from the giant.
He took deep breaths trying to calm himself before he faced the glaring lad, Karl was always a possessive and jealous man, even though he never showed his possessive side to Kathryn because of his own past fear and kept himself in control in front of her but all of his men knew about his untamed obsession over her. This man had even burned one of his guard alive because he made a comment about how sexy Kathryn was and if only Karl wasn't her husband he would had bed her a long time ago. Karl was merciless in his wife's matter and everyone knew it which was why, never had ever anyone dared to harm his wife until yesterday.
"Speak! And the reason better be worth leaving you alive!" Rory sighed heavily gulping down, he rubbed his fingers over his aching neck before he started narrating his side of story.
"When I arrived with Kathryn, she had bled too much, the doctors said they needed her husband to sign some papers," He took a deep breath pausing a bit which made the man in front of him impatient.
"Her surgery papers, she had a c-section delivery and doctors said they needed to do an urgent surgery to save both mother and son's alives but for that father's permission was needed as anything could have happened during the surgery, both of their lives were in danger. So in order to save their lives and make the procedure happen faster I lied that I was her husband and signed the papers." Karl felt several emotions striking his heart right at that time.
Anger, pain and guilt, something he had never felt in her matter before. The weight of remorse danced over his heart reminding him of all the calls she made yesterday, he was the first person she tried to get help from why? Because she hoped and trusted him to save her but where was he? Busy in his business matters and kept the phone on silent so no one could interrupt his meetings even Rory called his secretary so many times but to no avail.
"They said the baby could have been saved if only they were taken to the hospital just a few minutes earlier, if only she hadn't lost so much blood, they could have saved the baby but the late rescue resulted in losing a life." Rory mumbled before he ruffled his hair and took a seat on the bench, tears suddenly blurred his gaze as he looked at his boss who had his eyes stuck on the floor.
"Why didn't you stay with your pregnant wife? Why didn't you answer her calls? Why did you let her feel so alone and helpless? You're her husband then why? It was your son too." Rory always admired Karl for his hard working nature and devotion to work, he always defended him in front of Kathryn as he thought Karl was achieving everything for his family, for his wife. But when he didn't even care to be there for her when she needed him the most then what was the use of this power, status and hard work?
Karl opened and closed his lips multiple times having no words to defend himself for the first time in his life, he wasn't used to explaining himself, he never did in the first place. Not to his parents, not to his workers and never to his wife. For him, he never did anything so he could have to explain himself but today when someone actually asked him some valid questions he had nothing to say.
"Don't come near her for today," This snapped his head up as he instantly denied what Rory suggested.
"She's my wife, I need to talk to her." Rory scoffed before standing up.
"You tried talking to her and see what happened to her, she had a panic attack! She doesn't want to see you right now, give her some damn space!" Karl growled ready to pounce on Rory again but Greg held his boss back shaking his head.
"Watch your mouth!" Karl snarled making Rory sigh heavily. What a thick headed asshole! Rory thought shaking his head.
"You want her to have a panic attack again?" His words finally paused the raging beast who gulped blinking his blazing eyes a few times.
"No." He whispered shaking his head, he couldn't even imagine seeing her in the same condition he saw her a few minutes ago, it almost ripped his heart out.
"Then give her some space for now, let her accept her son's departure and when she will gather a strength to face and talk to you, she will eventually do it. But till then please listen to me." Karl so wanted to refuse but sane part of his mind told him how right Rory was. She indeed needed time, she had gone through such a big loss, and right now she was mad at him, her anger towards him was justified.
His ears perked up when the nurse finally left the ward making the men turn towards her, she visibly flinched watching two giants standing there, only one man who looked a little normal and approachable she stepped near him avoiding Karl and Greg instinctly. Rory stared at her as she smiled at him before telling them about the patient.
"Your wife is fine now, she's under the affect of sedative, please make sure she eats something after waking up. Also only one person can stay with her." With that she didn't even glance at the man whose mood was again crushed when she addressed Rory as Kathryn's husband. He wished he had the ability to be mind blind right now and rip all of their heads.
"I am going to stay with her, please give her some space." Rory without hearing any response entered the ward leaving the raging monster behind with his frowning secretary who pitied his boss.
Without a single word, Karl walked towards the ward and let his eyes look through the window on the door glaring at the young man who took a seat on the couch and stared worrying at his wife. His fucking wife! He should be the one sitting beside her, checking her, comforting her, they both lost their baby, he needed her comfort as much she should be needing his then why couldn't she put her anger aside? Karl was a father, his insides were dying too at the thought of losing his son, he needed his wife too.
Karl punched the wall beside the door glaring through the tiny window as sides of his eyes were filled with unshed tears, he so wanted to barge inside the ward, grab her and take her so far away from everyone and explain his side even though he knew whatever the excuses he might had were going to be lame. But he needed her, he needed her to be dependant on him like she always had been, he wanted her to find comfort in his arms only, the memory of her crying in another man's arms once again burned his anger higher. If only her panic attack hadn't come in his mind he definitely would have taken her away from the hospital.
"Greg," His man instantly gave a positive response as Karl's bloodshot eyes darkened even more as he commanded his secretary in a low tone.
"I need the surveillance footage of yesterday, find what happened? Who did this to my wife in my own fucking house? And," Karl gritted his teeth as he shot a murderous look imagining the end of the fucker who dared to harm his wife.
"You know what to do."

She waited years for him to hold her heart. Now all she wanted was to be free of it.Kathryn's PovI had no idea what was wrong with me, I was never this weak, this given up then what was actually wrong with me? I couldn't sleep, each time I tried closing my eyes I could see my son, my husband's indifference and my own bloody form. I had no idea until when I would actually be able to close my eyes like before and sleep the night away. My heart was crumbling and soul wrenching each time I thought about the tiny frame I held for the first time in my arms but it was nothing like I imagined. He didn't open his eyes, he didn't smile, he didn't even make a slightest noise. He just left me, without a single noise, look and touch.I never thought the motherhood I craved for years would be snatched away from me this viciously, what was even my fault? Just because I was married to Karl Salazar, the man she was obsessed with, was it really my fault that? Yes, everyone already knew who was the cu
He found the truth too late, She had been living it alone all along.Author's Pov Karl walked inside the place where Rory asked him to come, his tired red eyes covered with shades fell on the woman kneeling on the floor in front of a small casket, his heart instantly restricted at the sight before he let his heavy steps near them. As expected his wife was crying while laying her head on the closed head of the casket, his little son was trapped in it and there was nothing he could do to bring him out. There was a massive reason why Karl wore shades in such an occasion, his eyes were burning red with the tears he had stuffed in them not freeing them. He was a cautious man, he would never let anyone see him being vulnerable, he had learned this art of hiding his sadness years ago. Clutching his hands into tight fists he leaned closer to the head which showed his newborn son's face as he whispered solemnly only for him to hear."Farewell, my champ." No one heard him, not even the woman s

Kathryn's PovAfter sleeping for another few hours, the very first view I got after waking up was Rory sitting on the couch with his head resting on his fisted hand, he was fast asleep. My heart thumped in guilt watching him trying to gather a little sleep in such a painful position. He had been here with me from yesterday and haven't left even for a second, God knows if he even had eaten anything or not like me.Just when I held my body up to sit up, a small hiss escaped my lips at an electric sting I felt on my hand making my attention to divert towards it. After sitting up against the pillow my eyes paused over the shining ring still cradled in my finger, it was quiet surprising that the doctors didn't remove it or maybe they slipped it in my finger after the surgery۔ I never felt burdened over this ring in my whole two years before in this marriage the way I was feeling right now. It felt like something bitter stuck in my throat and wasn't ready to slip down. My hand felt numb, I
Kathryn's PovI felt dizzy and nauseous letting the faint scent of medicine and sweat engulf my nostrils, my body was on fire, it ached so bad that I couldn't even move, the pain shot up to my stomach before it glided towards my head and eyes as soon as I tried to open my swollen eyes. It hurt so damn much! I had never experienced such bodily pain, it was almost unbearable and mentally I felt exhausted until my hand due to the old habit went to my stomach wanting to feel the bump. But I felt nothing. My stomach was flat letting my ribs slightly brush my hand as well which I hadn't felt for the past few months. My eyes shot up ignoring the strike of pain erupting in my head increasing the ache in it due to the blinding lights filling the room. My eyes didn't care to look around and was stopped right before my flat stomach, my breathing paused and heart jumped against my chest terribly when the realization slowly started seeping in me even though I wanted to deny it.I was in a hospital
Kathryn's PovA weird wave of warmth and envy spread over my heart watching the lovely couple smiling towards each other, I didn't want to be jealous, I never was a type to get jealous easily yet this very moment the beautiful bond my new friend and her husband shared mocked me openly even though the poor duo didn't even have the slightest idea of what I had been through for the past two years.Cyril Sokolov, the notorious mob boss ruling over Russia and a very rare man who shared a good bond with my husband, Karl and Cyril had a long history of being business partners and good friends after he brought Italian alliance in Germany as well boosting Karl's business and name even more. Karl had connections with underground and I knew it really well, I didn't really care about such details as my foster father had worked in such businesses too. There wasn't a much difference between them when it came to business and success yet they were completely poles apart if compared their personal liv
