Chapter Thirty Six

Melanie shrieked and the phone fell from her hand. Dan noticed it immediately and walked towards her. She turned to him and hugged him tightly while he caressed her hair wondering what was wrong with her.

"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked her and she disengaged from the hug slowly and faked a smile. She did not want him to worry after all he has been facing a lot of problems recently.

"No, it's nothing. I just wanted to hug you" She said and hugged him again.

"Who was that? Why did he call me a worthless daughter and what does he know about my family?" She thought.

"Come on, let's go. You need to rest.." She said and touched his bandaged head and he smiled. She smiled too but her mind kept on thinking about the phone call.
