My Sam

KAYRA

"And he is my main target.", I added.

"That's right, Kayu. You are acting smart lately.", Stroking my back, Neil chuckled, trying to create a comic mood as I glued my gaze on him, passing strong glares. I know he didn't mean it but I can't keep calm when he is calling me 'Kayu'. Deep inside I really hated it.

"Don't... Just don't call me Kayu. No one can call me Kayu except Sam.", Jerking my shoulder, I shoved his hand as he held her ears to apologise.

Despite me expressing opposition to him calling me Kayu, he still doesn't listen to me. This name... It was always Sam's and always will be his. Kayu belongs to Sam and Sam belongs to Kayu, that's it.

"Neil, go to your work. Let her focus now.", Boss interrupted us, shooting a glare to him.

"Yes boss.", He politely answered and walked out.

"Kayra, I have taught you every moves and every strategy to win this game of yours and to avenge yourself. So, from now on you will fight alone and I'll not guide you. You will make decisions on your own.", Shocked by his words my eyes popped out as I blurted out,

"What?"

"You heard right. And I have something for you, just a second.", Still being in a state of shock, my eyes followed his steps as he came back with a rectangular shaped box, leaving me puzzled.

"Boss, what's... What's this?", I felt my voice choked inside my throat. I felt like to quench my thirst right then.

"It's just a small token of love from my side. You were a nice disciple who followed each and every rules and regulations. Keep this, you have never used a phone before. Right?"

"But boss, Ms. Clan...", I was at loss of words, unable to say further, my hands clutched the edge of the table where I was seated. Evading his gaze, I continued looking down. Just the name of Ms. Clan is enough to scare me as well as to make me furious. She is my actual boss, who can order me around anytime anywhere. She has kept me from socialising with people around me in all this while and I wasn't even allowed to use phone. She, boss, Neil and some other employees were the only people around me.

"Don't get worked up. Knowing that you will be joining Shining Star, she would not dream of doing something to you.", Boss patted my shoulder as I creased my lips into a tight-lipped smile, my eyes seeking hope and courage to get rid of this confinement.

Sometimes, I just wish to be with Sam. All this stupid revenge game, this hatred seems so shallow that I want nothing of it. But my parents... They must be waiting for justice.

In this tangled life of mine, you are the only thing which can keep me calm and my sanity stable, thanks to your memories, Sam. You know your memories can do wonders. It can illuminate the darkest days of my life. On some days, I wish I could find you, I could able to see the grown-up Sam, I could ask you

'Do you miss me, Sam? Do you even remember your Kayu?'

I wonder every now and then, 'what it would be like to spend my whole life with you.'

But the moment I remind myself of the helpless face of my parents, all these thoughts disappear into thin air.

"Get ready for tomorrow, Kayra. It'll be a big day for you.", As I heard this, I nodded reluctantly.

SAMAR

"Sir, you don't have anything in your schedule for tomorrow.", Striding toward me, Lily comes inside. Holding an Apple ipad, displaying my schedule, she grinned at me.

She is no better than a volcano in temper, but somehow I managed to conciliate her this time. Had I not shouted at her, she would've been in a better state of mind. However, I made it up to her and that's all matters.

"Lily, please make me a cup of coffee. I'm really having a bad headache."

"Sure sir.", She replied and moved to the kitchenette.

A soothing piano tune hit my ears as my phone started buzzing.

"Yes mom. Tell me, how can this assistant help you?", She gave me a laugh riot as I called myself 'her assistant'. This smile... I can do anything in my possession to hear this smile everyday.

"Come for dinner. We are waiting for you and someone... Someone is here as well.", She reluctantly told me. It didn't take me even ten seconds to grasp the situation.

"Has grandpa come?", Hesitation and frustration was clearly visible on my face as I stood up and walked toward the glass window in order to evade Lily's gaze as the kitchenette faces my cabin vertically. It took me almost two minutes to settle down and then I reiterate my question,

"Mom, has grandpa come?"

"Yes, come home now.", She hung up without hearing my response as she knew I will be refusing.

'I'm sorry, mom. But I won't come. I don't want to face grandpa. He is the sole reason of Kayra's disappearance.', I thought in my subconscious and pushed myself in the puffy chair as Lily came with my black coffee.

"Here, it is.", Handing me the Black coffee mug, she asked, "You don't look good. Your head must be aching terribly. Should I give you a head massage?"

"No, coffee will work. Instead of this, please set up my private condo in the hotel.", While saying this, I didn't looked at her at all, striving to hide my expression with a fake smile. But whom am I fooling? She will know either way.

I was expecting a good scolding but she said, "Face it, Samar. He is your grandpa."

I got muted by her reply.
