KAYRA

"And he is my main target.", I added.

"That's right, Kayu. You are acting smart lately.", Stroking my back, Neil chuckled, trying to create a comic mood as I glued my gaze on him, passing strong glares. I know he didn't mean it but I can't keep calm when he is calling me 'Kayu'. Deep inside I really hated it.

"Don't... Just don't call me Kayu. No one can call me Kayu except Sam.", Jerking my shoulder, I shoved his hand as he held her ears to apologise.

Despite me expressing opposition to him calling me Kayu, he still doesn't listen to me. This name... It was always Sam's and always will be his. Kayu belongs to Sam and Sam belongs to Kayu, that's it.

"Neil, go to your work. Let her focus now.", Boss interrupted us, shooting a glare to him.

"Yes boss.", He politely answered and walked out.

"Kayra, I have taught you every moves and every strategy to win this game of yours and to avenge yourself. So, from now on you will fight alone and I'll not guide you. You will make decisions on your own.", Shocked by his words my eyes popped out as I blurted out,

"What?"

"You heard right. And I have something for you, just a second.", Still being in a state of shock, my eyes followed his steps as he came back with a rectangular shaped box, leaving me puzzled.

"Boss, what's... What's this?", I felt my voice choked inside my throat. I felt like to quench my thirst right then.

"It's just a small token of love from my side. You were a nice disciple who followed each and every rules and regulations. Keep this, you have never used a phone before. Right?"

"But boss, Ms. Clan...", I was at loss of words, unable to say further, my hands clutched the edge of the table where I was seated. Evading his gaze, I continued looking down. Just the name of Ms. Clan is enough to scare me as well as to make me furious. She is my actual boss, who can order me around anytime anywhere. She has kept me from socialising with people around me in all this while and I wasn't even allowed to use phone. She, boss, Neil and some other employees were the only people around me.

"Don't get worked up. Knowing that you will be joining Shining Star, she would not dream of doing something to you.", Boss patted my shoulder as I creased my lips into a tight-lipped smile, my eyes seeking hope and courage to get rid of this confinement.

Sometimes, I just wish to be with Sam. All this stupid revenge game, this hatred seems so shallow that I want nothing of it. But my parents... They must be waiting for justice.

In this tangled life of mine, you are the only thing which can keep me calm and my sanity stable, thanks to your memories, Sam. You know your memories can do wonders. It can illuminate the darkest days of my life. On some days, I wish I could find you, I could able to see the grown-up Sam, I could ask you

'Do you miss me, Sam? Do you even remember your Kayu?'

I wonder every now and then, 'what it would be like to spend my whole life with you.'

But the moment I remind myself of the helpless face of my parents, all these thoughts disappear into thin air.

"Get ready for tomorrow, Kayra. It'll be a big day for you.", As I heard this, I nodded reluctantly.

SAMAR

"Sir, you don't have anything in your schedule for tomorrow.", Striding toward me, Lily comes inside. Holding an Apple ipad, displaying my schedule, she grinned at me.

She is no better than a volcano in temper, but somehow I managed to conciliate her this time. Had I not shouted at her, she would've been in a better state of mind. However, I made it up to her and that's all matters.

"Lily, please make me a cup of coffee. I'm really having a bad headache."

"Sure sir.", She replied and moved to the kitchenette.

A soothing piano tune hit my ears as my phone started buzzing.

"Yes mom. Tell me, how can this assistant help you?", She gave me a laugh riot as I called myself 'her assistant'. This smile... I can do anything in my possession to hear this smile everyday.

"Come for dinner. We are waiting for you and someone... Someone is here as well.", She reluctantly told me. It didn't take me even ten seconds to grasp the situation.

"Has grandpa come?", Hesitation and frustration was clearly visible on my face as I stood up and walked toward the glass window in order to evade Lily's gaze as the kitchenette faces my cabin vertically. It took me almost two minutes to settle down and then I reiterate my question,

"Mom, has grandpa come?"

"Yes, come home now.", She hung up without hearing my response as she knew I will be refusing.

'I'm sorry, mom. But I won't come. I don't want to face grandpa. He is the sole reason of Kayra's disappearance.', I thought in my subconscious and pushed myself in the puffy chair as Lily came with my black coffee.

"Here, it is.", Handing me the Black coffee mug, she asked, "You don't look good. Your head must be aching terribly. Should I give you a head massage?"

"No, coffee will work. Instead of this, please set up my private condo in the hotel.", While saying this, I didn't looked at her at all, striving to hide my expression with a fake smile. But whom am I fooling? She will know either way.

I was expecting a good scolding but she said, "Face it, Samar. He is your grandpa."

I got muted by her reply.

KAYRAIt was being hard for me to look directly in his eyes. I felt nervous just like a teenager girl who blushes everytime she sees her crush. Hell! He is definitely not my crush. He can never be. I tried to be composed as if nothing happened to me. "Can you leave my way please?""No, I can't.", His reply slammed me on my face. "Stop irritating me.""Aww! So the bold Kayra is gone now? Who is not afraid of anything...is irritated with my actions! Not bad, Samar.", He slightly praised himself by patting on his own back. "Listen""What?""You are driving me...""Crazy?", He completed my words while chuckling. I passed him a dead glare yet he grinned at me."Oh gosh! You almost had me.I literally fell for you", I mocked in a blank tone and walked past him. Still he was not ready to leave me alone as if he swore to irritate me to the extent. "Okay Ms. Kayra. Leaving you for now. But be ready in the evening. We have somewhere to go.", Saying this he smirked and went back to his condo

SAMAR "Huh", She didn't take my hand and stood up with a jerk. "Don't you want to have a CEO in your friendlist?", As she stomped off to the bedroom, I followed her, maintaining a feet distance, saving myself from vexed kitten. She glared at me, penetrating deep into my eyes with my statement. "I don't like to show off. Anything else?""Umm... Yeah! I...I...", My mind suddenly stopped working. Oh god, this girl! I swear I'll make her pay for taking me granted when she'll accept my friendship offer. "Mr. Boss, if you're done with your contemplation, can you?", She pointed towards the door and I passed a blank look to her. "I'm not going.", Without waiting for her permission I sat on the couch as if it was my room. She was pissed off indeed. "Don't you think it's trespassing?", Her gaze pierced deep into my eyes and her face bore the most annoying look. "But I asked you for your permission before entering... Your allegation is bas

  • The Doppelganger   Let's be friends

SAMARI was waiting for Lily desperately in my cabin when I heard a knock on my door. I knew who it was."Lily, come inside.", My heart was throbbing a bit faster with every passing second. Deep in my heart I just hoped to hear something good. I just hoped that Ms. Kayra is okay with staying at her position."It went well.", She smiled at me. All my burden was gone in an instant. I felt like my brain had blocked the path of blood since yesterday and after hearing this soothing news, blood drifted across my body effortlessly, calming me down."That's a relief.", I said. Yet something in me was not okay. Something troubled me like hell.********My shadow followed me as I was walking in the dark on the ground. Misty clouds drifted away from the full moon as my eyes couldn't help but gaze at it as if it was unavoidable. I was coated with

LILY"Let me take this shirt, I'll pursue her.", I spoke as his eyes widened."You? How will you? It's my fault, no? Logically, I should do it.", He explained."But being your secretary, I should clear your mess.", Striding towards my small cabin, I picked up the shirt and went to the hotel.***********"Hey, Kayra! How are you doing? Can we catch up for a while?", As soon as I met her, words escaped from my mind automatically as if I was prepping for it thousand of times."Sure, ma'am.", With a smile, she replied. We walked to garden with a tight-lipped smile with only silence engaging us. Maybe she too was hesitant to talk."Last night... I'm...", I strived to kick off the conversation but her words stopped me in midway."Ma'am, if you are going to fire me for last night just hint me, I'll resign on my own. You don't have to do that.", My eyes wide opened as I looked at her. I didn't know she would react like this. Samar, wha

  • The Doppelganger   Pursuing her

SAMARI was whining aloud, complaining about Kayu when a familiar voice hit my ears, interrupting me. I knew who it is, Ms. Kayra. Her words somehow distracted my wandering soul, who was in search of his long-lost soulmate. Didn't know from where an idea popped up into my mind to ask her about her childhood. Well, I was trying to find my Kayu. Possessed me, stood up in rage as she was not ready to tell me about it."Hey, wait!", She grabbed my hand immediately delivering a sudden electric shock inside me."What?", Without looking at her, I asked."Sir, I... I like you... I mean your shirt... Where did you get it? I'll buy it for my friend.", She could finally able to form a excuse to make me stay."What the...!", I almost cursed because of her lame excuse. Perhaps, she too was swearing inside."I'm sorry.", She immediately blurted out, loosing her grip on my shirt."Have you lost your mind?", Spinning around, I sneered at her as her rea

  • The Doppelganger   One story at a time

KAYRA"Can I trust you?", As he asked, I glanced at him, peering deep into his eyes, striving to gauge his thoughts but couldn't penetrate them."No, you can't.", Words escaped from my heart as I didn't realize what did I actually said. With a sigh of relief, I turned my face to look at him, his eyes widened in confusion. I wanted to cover my mouth right then but I needed to be stable, no?"You can't trust me, for I'm just an employee to you, and you only hired me one week ago. So yes, you can't trust me yet.", Covering my actual motive, I strived to explain and diverted him from where I'm coming from."Well, got a point there. I shouldn't trust you.", While glancing at the cloudy sky, he said. He didn't take my bait. I was frustrated as well. This revenge game... My heart yearned for years to end this as soon as possible, not only for me but for Ms. Clan too. Deep in my heart, I just hoped that she'll not use me again for her. I can't work for her anymor
