Olive's words echoed in the ward, her jaw dropped and her hands shook as she held onto the envelope. She stared at her husband in disbelief, tears welling up in her eyes. "How could you do this to me?" she asked, her voice quivering with anger and hurt. "I'm done with you, Olive," her husband said, his cold voice devoid of emotion. "I've found someone better, someone who's rich and I'm not wasting another moment of my life with you." Olive's eyes widened in disbelief. "But... but we've been married for three years! You can't just throw away our relationship like it doesn't matter!" Her husband, Joshua Jones shrugged. "It doesn't matter to me." His voice dripped with unfamiliar hatred which caught Olive Anderson off guard. But Olive shook her head in denial, she didn't want to accept this reality. The sadness made her solemn, she could feel the emotions welling up inside her like a river threatening to overflow its banks. Never in her Twenty-Five years of life had she been this devastated. Her vision blurred and her throat tightened, as she tried to hold back the tears. A single tear rolled down her cheek, and then another, until they were flowing freely. "You know you can always tell me what I did wrong so we can sort things out..." her voice turns excruciating, hoping they could reconcile the misunderstanding that threatened to break their marriage. The beeping sounds from the heart monitor reminded her of her painful encounter. Her black hair spread on the hospital bed, accentuating her pale skin. She thought she'd be able to hug her husband after she woke up a few minutes ago, but here she was...being served divorce papers instead. Joshua only scoffed at her "If you had died, that would have saved me the stress of explaining things to you!" His bitter words rolled out of his mouth and each sentence made Olive tear up even more, her face turned red and her nose couldn't help but drip snot. Earlier, she was involved in a car accident when she was on her way back from the hospital where her sick mother with Leukemia was hospitalized. She was taken to the hospital by a kind citizen for treatment. "How could you, Josh??" Her voice trailed off at the end. She was in disarray but Joshua did not spare her as he reminded her of her misfortune. "You want to guilt trip me?? Well, nice try but I'm not moved. For goodness sake Olive, we've been married for three fucking years and where are the proofs??" Joshua boiled in anger as he raised his voice to growl at her " There are None!!" The tension between them both was perpetual, Olive's eyes blurred even more as the tears formed in their depths. Being reminded by her husband of her inability to give him a child hurt her the more. Her heart throbbed in pain, her head was fuzzy as she remained sitting on the bed weakly, and her wrist was connected to the IV drip. Joshua continued to add more salt to her wounds "And aside from your inability to give birth, what do you have?? Absolutely nothing! You are nothing, Olive, all these while I thought you were a daughter of the Anderson family and that a little bit of properties would go to me..." his words made Olive ogle at him in awe. Her lips were apart as she stared at him, her eyes held pain, anguish, and a deep-seated sadness. "Joshua..." she weakly called out to him but he snapped at her impatiently. "Unfortunately for me, You are just a niece in the Anderson family, Olive, what is worse than that?? No wonder you never told me about your dad. You do not know who your father is, your mother is pathetic with leukemia and you are not even from the wealthy Anderson family but you just borrowed the name because your mom is a daughter of the family!" He recounted her life history to her, each word reminding her of the misery surrounding her birth. Too stunned, too sad to even cry, Olive is thrust into a deep pool of rejection and confusion. She mustered up a little bit of her courage to ask but her voice betrayed her as she stammered. "Is-is that why you agreed to marry me?? Because of the Anderson family wealthy?" Joshua gripped his hair in disbelief, he paced around for a bit before he pointed at the still-astonished Olive on the bed. "Back then, I could have done my research well enough, I regret getting married to you and it hurts that I finally got to find out about your true relationship with the Anderson family but not to talk much, Sign those damn papers!" He nodded as if to finalize his words. The anger in him made him snap at her again "And you will do that now!" Olive choked on her tears this time around. How happy she was three years ago when she got married to the man she loved. Even when others mocked her for her inability to bear Joshua a child, he never told it to her face. What went wrong? It pained her to know that he had only got married to her because he thought she was a daughter of the Anderson family. All for wealth. Now she was forced to know that He never loved her. He had only aimed for properties and now that he found out she was only related to the Anderson family because of her mom, he is disappointed. Olive opened her lips to say something more but the cracking of the door resounded in the room and that caught their attention. Olive was surprised when she saw her cousin, It was a bit awkward for her that Adeline, her cousin came in at that time and she was having a heated conversation with her husband. But Adeline's next question took her by surprise. "Babe, I have been waiting outside for a long time, have she not signed the papers yet?" Adeline asked as she walked right into the room. Olive who thought she was confused by Joshua's sudden choice to divorce her, can tell she was even more confused. Her eyes darted between Adeline and Joshua in great surprise. She couldn't process all that unfolded in her eyes. Olive was hit by the cruel realization when Joshua hugged Adeline before he kissed her forehead in assurance "I'm sorry for making you wait, sweetheart, you know your cousin is a bitch and she won't stop crying" Adeline snuggled into his embrace and Olive broke down. "Adeline..." Olive weakly called out when she finally found her voice, her words came out heavy as she looked at her husband and also called out to him "Josh...." Her voice broke even more "How could-how could you both betray me??" Adeline only rolled her eyes in mockery "Betray you, you say? Come on, I only want to clear his name and give him what you can't give him" Olive was stunned by her response, Adeline was not even remorseful for taking her husband. The betrayal stabbed Olive's heart and she found it hard to breathe, her vision shook but she quickly covered her mouth with her left palm as she burst into tears. Joshua didn't care, instead, he dropped the final bomb on her head "Sign the papers real quick and prepare yourself to attend I and Adeline's baby's arrival" The last sentence immediately lit a bulb in her head and it felt as if the world had stopped around her...The garden was quiet now. Warm breeze move the flowers behind them and the sounds of crickets filled the night. It was dark already and the moon and fire set up served as the only source of lighting. Everyone sat around a table, close to each other, with big smiles on their faces. Lilian sit in her wheelchair, soft blanket on her lap. She look peaceful while talking to Olive who was beside her. Mrs. Smith laugh at something Damien said. “You boys never change,” she said. Mr. Smith nod, sipping wine. “Well, at least they're laughing now. It's been a long road.” Adam Taylor sit nearby, watching his daughter, Olive. He smile proud. “And she’s qstronger now,” he said. Dain raise his glass to the air. “To new beginnings.” Derek added, “To family.” Damien grinned from ear to ear, “To love.” They all laugh and clinked glasses together while cheering along. Olive sit quietly, holding her baby, Iris. The little one was just four months old, but her presence brought peace to everyone. S
Beeping sounds flooded into Olive's head, disrupting her sleep. The noise from something like a heart monitor and chatters seemed to be serving as a disturbance. People seemed to be talking at a far distance. Sometimes it faded into a blur but other times, it felt too loud. Too loud that it was messing with her. She wanted to growl out some complaints and tell them to tune down the voices in her head. Olive tried to move her lips but it felt more difficult than moving a mountain. Her lips seemed to have been glued or tied with a gag. Just then, a sickening exhaustion came from far deep inside of her, swallowing her consciousness. dragging her into a dark abyss, her ears tuning out every sound. A few hours later, Olive seemed to be jolted. Questions formed in her head but to pry her eyes open was sort of impossible. She couldn't even control her body anymore. As if she was in the body of someone else— She felt a squeeze on her hand, the hot touch almost made her flinch but her
Logan had a dark look on his face as he stared at the Italian man who was smirking back at him. Damien and the others joined to search the ship and till now, they couldn't find anything. The search went on and the sea police officers were beginning to give up the search. "Nothing yet." Derek whispered to Logan while glaring at the Italian man who looked like a thug. Behind the Italian man were several other men looking like gangsters. Logan hissed. The Italian man said something to his men in Italian language before facing Logan. "I hope you all are satisfied now??" His accent was getting in the way. Logan didn't indulge him. His eyes went to the Officers who came out. They shook their heads. " We found nothing,Sir." The head officer said with a straight face. Logan's eyes went to Damien for confirmation. Damien nods his head in agreement. Truly they found nothing. Logan's eyes sank. He threw a look at the Italian man who won't stop smirking as if that was his default expre
"Even if you kill me now, your daughter and your son's wife would still be killed. Trust me!" Mr Scott scoffed, as he struggled with the chains trapped in his hands behind him. The chair staggered as he tried to free himself. Mr Smith grinned as he stared at Mr Scott. Amelia was at the other side of the room, whimpering In fear. She never expected her father to go to so many lengths for her. Things had turned bloody and messy now. "What did you do to them??" Mr Smith asked. His hand glided against the small sharp knife in his hand, amusement flashing in his eyes. Eyes that held killing intents. He was now another badass old man. Not fickle or frail. He was sinister. Like a predator, looking at its prey with a delirious face. Mr Scott scoffed loudly. "Simple. I sold them off." Just as he said those words, the head of Elite team, Mr Crowd landed a punch on his face.Amelia screamed at the top of her lungs. "Dad!!" Her cries echoed in the dark room, in the middle of nowhere. A dung
"What's that?" A middle-aged man with white hair and a brown beard with a thick British accent spoke. He was standing in front of the ship with the sailor, his eyes narrowed. Several men with guns came out of the ship and stood with the British man. Their eyes caught the boats and ferries that had come near theirs. "Oh shit." They quickly recognized the men to be marine police and Coast Guard officers. The British man nudged the others. "Go hide your guns, fuckers! We can't afford to let anything happen." He whispered quickly. The men rushed back inside to inform the others who were playing cards inside the ship. "Marin police and coast guards caught up with us! Men." They quickly scattered to hide their weapons in the underground drawer. "Fuck fuck fuck." An Italian man grumbled. "How do they know that we would be smuggling some slaves across the sea today?? Mr Scott assured us that nothing was going to go wrong!" "He doesn't hold more power on the sea." Another man snar
"It can't be." Logan shoved the idea quickly. "Maverick and some men should check the southern shore and inspect that vehicle." "Okay, sir!" Derek and Dain quickly butted in. "We want to participate too." Damien stepped in. "Same here." Their faces were tightened in resolve. "Of course." Logan smiled warmly. "You trio, Scott, and a few others will come with me. Though we'll have to split up at some point." "What's the plan?" Logan quickly briefed them on the idea he had in mind. They gave their opinions and soon, all was set. Ready to go find their own. ☆☆☆☆☆☆ "You all set?" Mr Smith asked the few men he had assembled in his living room. The twenty men were dressed in all-black outfits. They were the Smith Elite teams, only controlled by Mr Smith. Logan had no control over them because their sole loyalty lies with the head of the family. It was a team passed down from generation to generation. If Mr Smith dies, the teams will start to answer to Logan who will be the hea
