The ancient vault faded into the dark shadows beneath us, a silent monument left behind by a forgotten age.

With the condensed ancestral energy fully absorbed and locked deep within my core, my entire physical shell hummed with a dense, unyielding vitality.

My muscles were tightly coiled springs of pure power, and every breath I drew felt like inhaling liquid fire. The Guardian stood at the edge of the lower platform, bowing its massive head in absolute reverence as I prepared to leave the sanctuary.

"The vertical wall ahead is untamed and lethal, master," the guardian rumbled, its voice echoing off the stone walls. "Countless mortals and beasts have perished trying to scale its height. Let the dragon blood guide your grip."

I gave a curt nod, turning my back on the safety of the vault. It was time to leave the abyss behind. It was time to return to the world above and collect the debt that House Vane and Dorian Thorn owed me.

Stepping up to the sheer, vertiginous cliff face that formed the vertical wall of the Abyss of Beasts, I looked up. The top was nothing more than a faint, distant circle of grey light, swallowed by swirling, unnatural tempests, and jagged black rock. There were no stairs, no carved paths, and no safety ropes. Just thousands of feet of sheer, unforgiving stone stretching vertically toward the surface.

I raised my right hand, letting a flicker of dark crimson flame dance across my fingertips. Without hesitation, I drove my fingers directly into the solid rock face. The stone yielded to the intense heat of my newly unlocked cultivation power as easily as wet clay, allowing my fingers to carve out a secure handhold.

With a powerful push from my legs, I began the long, brutal ascent. For the first few hundred feet, the climb was grueling but steady. My body handled the strain with ease, the physical condensation stage ensuring my endurance far surpassed anything a normal mortal could achieve.

But as I climbed higher, crossing the boundary from the lower chasm into the mid-levels of the abyss, the environment shifted violently. A sudden, howling shriek tore through the air above me. Before I could react, a wall of freezing, razor-sharp wind slammed into the cliffside.

The gale was so fierce it threatened to peel me off the stone and send me tumbling back into the endless dark below. I clamped my fingers tighter into the rock, my knuckles turning white as I fought to keep my balance against the punishing gusts. Then came the predators.

Out of the swirling grey mists swooped a flock of Abyssal Gale-Hounds—monstrous, avian-like predators with slate-grey plumage, jagged beaks made of bone, and wings that crackled with static electricity. They nested along the vertical cliffs, feeding on the strong drafts and anything unfortunate enough to try and climb out of the chasm.

The lead beast spotted me clinging to the stone face. With a piercing screech that vibrated painfully against my eardrums, it folded its massive wings and dove straight toward me like a feathered spear, its razor-sharp talons outstretched to tear my flesh apart. I didn't panic. My heart rate didn't even spike. In the crucible of the abyss, hesitation meant death.

With my left hand locked securely into a crevice in the stone, I pulled my right arm free, spinning my torso slightly against the vertical wall. As the diving predator closed the distance, baring its vicious beak for my throat, I unleashed the crimson flame pent up in my palm.

A burst of roaring fire erupted outward, enveloping the creature mid-air. There was no time for it to squawk or evade. The intense, dragon-forged heat instantly incinerated its feathers and charred its bone-like beak to ash before it even touched my skin.

The momentum of the burning carcass carried it past my shoulder, plummeting silently into the abyss below as a glowing ember. The remaining beasts shrieked in sudden terror at the display of lethal fire, circling wildly in the freezing wind, hesitant to make another direct approach.

But they didn't leave. They hovered just out of reach, waiting for me to make a false move, treating the climb as a slow game of attrition. I wiped a streak of sweat and soot from my forehead, my gaze fixed upward on the unforgiving stone.

The wind howled louder, biting into my exposed skin with freezing teeth, and the sheer rock face grew slick with damp mist. It became painfully clear in that moment that the natural elements of this cursed place were conspiring to keep me trapped. The abyss itself did not want to let me go.

"You think a bit of wind and a few scavengers can stop me?"

I muttered to myself, my voice cold enough to freeze the mist around my lips. A dark, fierce grin spread across my face. Let the wind blow. Let the beasts gather. Every hardship I overcame down here only sharpened my edge, turning me into a weapon too sharp for their fragile world to handle.

I tightened my grip, channeling the fiery core within my chest, and resumed my relentless climb upward, leaving the frozen winds and the watching predators behind as I drew one step closer to the surface.

  • The Dragon's Vengeance   Chapter 10: Ashes of the Vane Lineage

The thick, acrid smoke swirled across the shattered expanse of the grand hall, illuminated only by the angry, pulsing glow of the dark crimson flames licking at the broken stone pillars. The elite soldiers of the Vane estate were sealed behind a massive wall of fallen masonry, trapped in a tomb of their own making, while absolute, frozen silence gripped everyone remaining inside. The grand dynasty that had lorded over the valley for generations was reduced to a crumbling ruin in a single night. I stepped forward, my boots crushing fragments of polished marble into fine dust. The heavy, suffocating pressure of my aura swept across the platform, pressing down like an invisible mountain. Lord Vane, the proud patriarch who had once signed away my life with a flick of his wrist, could no longer maintain even a shred of his dignity. The sheer weight of my presence forced his legs to buckle entirely. He crashed hard onto his knees in the dirt and debris beside the dais, his head hang

  • The Dragon's Vengeance   Chapter 9: The Iron Ring and the Dragon's Wrath

The heavy ring of armored soldiers closed in around the ruined hall, their polished steel shields locked tightly together to form an unyielding wall of defense. Torches flickered in the smoky corridors, casting long, dancing shadows across the blood-stained marble. They believed they had cornered a stray beast, that the sheer weight of their numbers would crush any lingering defiance. They were entirely, catastrophically mistaken. I did not wait for their commander to bark an order, nor did I allow them to complete their tactical formation. With a sudden, explosive burst of muscle power, I broke into a sprinting charge. The internal dragon vitality surged through my limbs, transforming my stride into a blur of raw motion. Before the frontline vanguard could raise their spears, I slammed directly into their formation like a falling meteor. A wave of dense, dark crimson and black flames erupted from my palms, washing over the leading ranks. The impact sent shockwaves through

  • The Dragon's Vengeance   Chapter 8: Echoes of Despair and the Iron Ring

The suffocating smoke hung like a heavy shroud across the fractured marble floor of the grand hall. The illusion of noble invincibility had shattered entirely, replaced by the raw, primal instinct of self-preservation. Across the room, the chaotic stampede of fleeing nobles reached a deafening crescendo. Lords and ladies who had spent the evening sipping fine wine and exchanging sycophantic pleasantries now trampled over one another, tearing their velvet gowns and expensive cloaks in a frantic race for the outer corridors. Alliances built on greed and status evaporated in a single heartbeat. They abandoned House Vane to its fate, fleeing the burning hall like rats deserting a sinking ship. In the center of this crumbling empire, Lord Vane knelt in the dust. The proud patriarch, who moments ago had stood tall and projected absolute authority, looked entirely hollowed out. The shock of the ruined floor and the overwhelming, terrifying pressure of my aura had stripped away every layer o

  • The Dragon's Vengeance   Chapter 7: The Shattered Throne

The air inside the grand banquet hall was thick with smoke, heavy and suffocating, yet my lungs drank it in like cool mountain springwater. Every step I took forward was measured, slow, and deliberate. The chaotic scramble of the fleeing nobility echoed against the soaring vaulted ceilings, but their panic felt distant, muffled by the steady, powerful thrum of the dragon vitality surging through my veins. A squad of elite personal guards, clad in heavy steel armor bearing the crest of House Thorn, charged directly through the lingering haze. They had recovered from the initial shock of the blast, their faces twisted into snarls of aggressive determination as they drew their long broadswords. "Intruder! Cut him down where he stands!" The commander roared, leading the charge straight toward me. I didn't break my stride. I didn't even draw a weapon. As the commander brought his broadsword down in a ferocious overhead vertical slash aimed straight at my skull, I simply raised m

The night sky over the Vane estate was choked with thick, heavy clouds, casting a bruised shadow across the towering stone ramparts. My fingers gripped the cold, damp stone of the outer perimeter wall with effortless ease. The physical condensation stage achieved in the ancestral vault had permanently altered my biology; my muscles were dense coils of unyielding power, and my reflexes operated on a plane far beyond normal human limitations. With a silent, fluid motion, I hauled myself over the top of the fortification wall, slipping past the patrol routes like a ghost in the dark. The exclusive contract binding my destiny had been sealed in blood and resolve; there was no turning back, and no mercy left in my heart. Tonight, House Vane would learn the true cost of casting a soul into the abyss. I moved swiftly through the sprawling outer gardens, keeping close to the dense hedgerows and shadowy archways until I reached the grand inner courtyard. Looming ahead was the magnificen

  • The Dragon's Vengeance   Chapter 5: Return of the Dead

The final ledge of the vertical wall loomed above me, jagged and dark against the bruised twilight sky. My fingers, hardened by the grueling climb and fueled by the dense, unyielding vitality of my newly unlocked core, locked onto the cold rock one last time. With a final surge of physical power, I hauled my body over the crest and pulled myself completely out of the suffocating, bottomless chasm.I lay flat on the hard, familiar earth of the surface world for a brief moment, letting my lungs fill with the crisp, unfiltered air. My body hummed with raw energy, completely recovered from the brutal abuse of the ascent."Did you check the perimeter again, Kael?" a bored, gravelly voice echoed through the crags just a few dozen paces ahead. "I told you twice already, Jaro," a second voice replied, laced with lazy arrogance. "Nobody survives the Abyss of Beasts. Not a crippled whelp with a dead core. The young master Dorian made sure of that when he had him tossed over. His body has
