The bell rang releasing us to our last period of the day. It's been a really long first day, so this class couldn't come sooner. Yet I also didn't want it to come at all, knowing Toni will be there. The teacher was waiting to greet us by the door. She was a younger teacher, probably mid 20s. She had long straight brown hair with naturally blonde streaks. "What was that?" Ash teased. "I shouldn't have let him." I was mostly telling myself that. "He's your mate, Ember. You know how that is. Just look at mom. She and dad can never keep their hands off one another." He added. "Yeah. She can't keep her hands off with Eryn or Charles either." I rolled my eyes. I woke up in my own bed, although I could have sworn I fell asleep on Ash's bed. I dragged my feet as I brushed my hair and then braid it to the side. I decided to wear something more of my style today. I grabbed my red guns and roses shirt, with dark jeans and my red and white Ed hardies canvas shoes. Ash came into my room as soon as I slipped my shoes on. He had on a red hoodie with a large black heart. He paired it with black jeans and red and black Jordans. He had a good sense of style in my eyes. His hair was styled messy, but in a neat kind of way, if that makes any sense. "You ready?" He asked, his backpack slung behind one of his shoulders. "Did you pack gym clothes?" "Yes and yes." I grabbed my bag, gym clothes inside it, and slung it over my shoulder. We walked out of the palace towards the trees to leave. "That's not good." Toni said from beside me. I wasn't sure when he got there, but he saw the same thing I did. Myra worming her way into Ash's life. I nodded my head in agreement. I really wish Ash would have said my name already. This is going to be awkward. "I'm sorry about this morning. I just figure I've done it to you so many times now that you could do it to me once." He didn't look at me as he spoke. He was embarrassed and it was really cute. I couldn't help the teasing smile on my face. "I figured it would help calm you down and it seems like it worked." 6th and 7th period flew by and I had a hard time focusing as my thoughts kept coming back to Toni. His handsome face and sweet chocolate eyes. I was envious of that tan skin of his. I've always been white as snow, and I only ever burn in the sun. No tan for me. "Ember!" I heard Josh call from down the hall. I waved at him, walking slowly so he could catch up. We were late and of course Eryn scolded us about how important it is to be on time. That we make a commitment and we should be responsible enough to take it seriously. Yada yada. He's gotten kind of bitter since taking the crown. Eric was already practicing while we were being lectured. He'd make a face behind Eryn every now and then and I had to try hard not to laugh. As promised Talia had released some of my magic that night. I was finally able to touch the tree of life and get my affinity with mom. Plants like Larminiel, Mom said. She's going to train me to use it to grow, and mend plants, but also how to use it in combat. Something else to add to my list of things after school. Mom asked if I wanted to come back to school here now that I have my magic, but I told her no. I am really enjoying the human high school. I went to bed late last night. Dad came and talked to me after school. He told me that mom had told him everything. He was so happy for me, he even teared up a bit. He has always been so emotional, although he's been great at hiding it. He told me whenever Lien comes, he'll teach me what he's taught Ash so far.
