The interior of the Maybach was a sanctuary of dark leather, soft ambient lighting, and absolute silence, completely insulated from the torrential storm raging outside.

Aria settled into the heated leather seat, setting her dripping suitcase near the floor mats. She wiped a stray drop of rain from her cheek, her hands steady, her pulse calm.

Julian Sterling leaned back, watching her with keen, silver-grey eyes. He didn't offer a towel, nor did he fuss over her condition. He treated her not as a damsel rescued from a storm, but as an equal stepping onto a battlefield.

"You didn't shed a single tear," Julian remarked, his deep voice smooth as velvet. "Most women in your position would be calling a lawyer or crying on a friend's couch."

"Most women didn't build a two-hundred-million-dollar tech company from their kitchen table while their husband took the credit," Aria replied coolly, meeting his gaze without flinching. "I gave Ethan three years to prove he loved me for who I was. He chose status. Now he pays the price."

Julian’s lips twitched into the ghost of a smile. He reached over, tapping the tablet screen resting on the central console between them. A complex live dashboard illuminated the cabin, displaying Vance Tech’s real-time financial metrics, stock projections, and server traffic.

"Vance Tech is scheduled to go public in four weeks," Julian said, flipping through the data. "Ethan has leveraged ninety percent of his personal assets to secure a syndicate loan from my competitors. He believes his new software suite—Aegis 4.0—will double his valuation on opening day."

Aria let out a quiet, bitter chuckle. "Aegis isn't his. The predictive security algorithm at the core of that system was coded entirely by me under my encryption handle, 'Phoenix'. I registered the master patent under an anonymous trust two years ago."

"And let me guess," Julian said, leaning closer, his dark mahogany scent washing over her. "The licensing agreement with Vance Tech had a clause."

"A marital clause," Aria confirmed, her eyes glinting with lethal satisfaction. "The moment the divorce decree is filed with the court, the software license automatically terminates. Vance Tech no longer has legal rights to run Aegis."

Julian let out a low, approving hum. "Poetic. But terminating a license takes legal notice and time. Ethan’s lawyers will file injunctions to drag it out. If you want to crush him before he ever reaches the stock exchange, you need capital, leverage, and absolute corporate immunity."

He tapped the screen again, pulling up a sleek, pre-drafted digital contract.

"Which brings us to my offer," Julian said, his tone shifting into purely transactional precision.

Contract TermsDetails & ProvisionsDuration12 Months (Strict Marriage of Convenience)Julian’s GainFull board approval for the Sterling Family Trust inheritance; blocking his uncle's hostile takeover bid.Aria’s Gain$1 Billion credit line via Sterling Global; 30% proxy voting power; full legal defense team.Public StatusOfficial announcement as the new Mrs. Sterling, elevating her instantly above Ethan's social reach.

Aria scanned the document carefully, her sharp mind processing every legal nuance in seconds.

"You've been tracking me for a while, haven't you, Mr. Sterling?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I’ve been tracking 'Phoenix' for eighteen months," Julian admitted without hesitation. "When I realized the genius beating my market algorithms was sitting in Ethan Vance’s kitchen cooking him dinner, I knew it was only a matter of time before his arrogance drove you away. I don't waste talent, Mrs. Vance. And I certainly don't let my enemies keep what doesn't belong to them."

Aria looked up from the screen, studying the formidable man sitting next to her. Julian Sterling was dangerous—a predator in a bespoke suit—but unlike Ethan, he recognized her true power. He didn't want a trophy wife; he wanted a partner in crime.

"Three additions to the contract," Aria demanded, her voice firm.

"Name them."

"First, I control the execution of Vance Tech’s downfall. You provide the artillery; I pull the trigger. Second, we keep separate bedrooms. Third, when Ethan comes begging on his knees, you let me handle him."

Julian stared at her for a long second before a genuine, dark laugh escaped his chest. "Agreed. Sign at the bottom."

Aria pressed her thumb against the biometric sensor on the tablet. A soft green chime confirmed the agreement: CONTRACT EXECUTED.

Julian immediately tapped his ear piece, connecting to his head of security. "Marcus. Execute Phase One. Shut down the primary mirror servers for Vance Tech’s beta test tonight."

"Yes, Mr. Sterling," a crisp voice replied over the comms.

Aria looked out the window as the Maybach pulled onto the highway, heading toward the highest point of the city where Julian’s penthouse overlooked the skyline.

"Ethan's press conference is tomorrow at ten in the morning," Aria said softly, a dark promise in her voice. "He thinks he's announcing his engagement and new board members."

"Then let's make sure he gets the spotlight he deserves," Julian murmured, sliding a velvet jewelry box into her lap.

Aria opened it to reveal a rare, glowing emerald ring surrounded by flawless diamonds—the famous Sterling family heirloom.

"Put it on," Julian said, his eyes darkening as he watched her slide the heavy ring onto her finger. "Tomorrow, the world meets the real Phoenix."

He had spent the last two hours drinking espresso, trying to scrub the image of Aria on Julian Sterling’s arm from his memory. It was just a stunt, Ethan told himself, tightening his silk tie. Julian Sterling is using her to rattle me. Once I launch Aegis 4.0 today, Vance Tech hits a $500 million valuation, and Sterling won't matter.Ethan took the stage to polite applause. He put on his practiced, charismatic CEO smile, resting his hands on the podium."Ladies and gentlemen," Ethan’s voice boomed over the surround-sound speakers. The sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Sterling penthouse woke Aria at six in the morning. By seven, the master suite looked less like a bedroom and more like a private salon for a Paris fashion week show.Julian had spared no expense. A team of elite stylists, makeup artists, and hair technicians bustled silently around Aria under the direction of Madame Laurent—the city’s most sought-after image consultant."Mon dieu," Madame Laurent gasped, stepping back as her team put the finishing touches on Aria’s hair. "To think someone kept this diamond hidden under plain linen and tight hair buns. Mon chéri, you are going to ruin lives today."Aria stood up, stepping in front of the full-length gilded mirror. The woman staring back at her was unrecognizable. The sensible, muted housewife was gone. In her place stood an ethereal, lethal vision. Her dark hair cascaded down her back in loose, glossy waves. The dining table was set for two.A heavy, dark-mahogany table—the center of a dining room Aria Vance had spent weeks decorating to match Ethan’s precise tastes. She smoothed the corner of the cream-colored linen tablecloth, adjusting a crystal wine glass by a fraction of an inch. A three-course meal sat warming in the kitchen, carefully prepared to celebrate three years of marriage.Three years.Aria caught her reflection in the dark bay window. Plain black dress, minimal makeup, hair pulled back into a sensible knot. Safe. Unobtrusive. The perfect, quiet housewife. The front door clicked open.Heavy, hurried footsteps echoed down the tiled hallway. Ethan Vance threw his tailored suit jacket onto the sofa, not bothering to glance toward the dining room. He didn't look tired; he looked restless, wired with an edgy, triumphant energy."You're late," Aria said softly, stepping out into the foyer. "Happy anniversary, Ethan."Ethan stopped, turning to look at her. His eyes swept over her
