18. Don't Die Young

When I came to my senses, I was looking up at my grandfather.

His blue eyes are dark and full of disappointment.

"What happened?" I mumbled.

"You passed our right after doing the job. How are you supposed to take over my empire one day if you pass out at a sight of a little blood?" he barked.

A little blood? He must be joking.

I look down at my chest as it feels wet and sticky. Just as I thought, it was covered in blood. Grandpa and his men don't seem phased by it, but I am thoroughly grossed out.

"He was writhing like a headless chicken, grandpa. Don't act like it was nothing. Is he dead?" I ask him grimly.

"No, he is fine. Bruce bandaged him up and sent him his way. After that, he will think twice before stealing from me again," grandpa said.

"Is this how you always get people to give your money back?" I ask.

Grandpa shakes his head no. "I've done worse to people. This guy got off easy."
