***One Year ago****

“You are a disgrace to this Pack!”

The harsh growls from my pack members rumbled in the hall.

I stood before the trial court, still in shock, still in disbelief.

I couldn't believe what was going on.

From going to visit my mate, to standing in front of everyone waiting for my fate to be decided.

From a day that started off being the best day of my life, to the one I hoped to forget.

I looked towards my sister…

She was wailing, crying profusely as she rolled herself on the ground.

As soon as our eyes met, she threw her face away.

Tears pooled in my eyes.

How could she do this…

How could someone that knew me better than anyone be the same one breaking me?

“You seduced your sister's mate,” the head of the Pack court sneered disgustingly at me.

“I didn't—” I tried to explain myself, but he cut me off immediately.

“Don't you dare lie in front of this sacred court!” he barked.

I turned towards my father.

He was silent.

The cherished eyes with which he used to look at me were gone, replayed by nothing but disappointment.

So was everyone else in this hall that used to love me.

They looked at me like I was something so disgusting it irked them. Like I was a dirty disgusting traitor who deserved never to be seen in their midst.

And maybe I deserved it.

I'd broken the pack law—sleeping with my sister’s mate.

But then it wasn’t the truth.

Selene was the one that had betrayed me.

She was the one in bed with my mate when I walked into that room.

But she'd flipped everything.

She'd bought their hearts with her tears and lies and now everything was pinned on me.

I looked at their faces, and I knew nothing I explained would make them believe my word over my sister's.

Because if even my own mate could not only betray me, but choose to lie against me, how could I expect anyone else to trust me?

“For breaking the Pack law, Lyra, you are hereby banished from the Pack until your innocence is proven!”

I didn't talk.

Didn't question my fate.

Instead, I just turned and walked out the door.

Where I was going, I didn't know.

But all I wanted was to get away from here.

From everything that concerned Harrow wood pack.

From the stares that condemned me. The family that abandoned me. And the mate that disgraced me.

Right before I crossed the Harrow wood boundary, a link echoed in my mind.

My wolf leaped.

But the next moment, she whimpered and curled into her tails.

Draven, my mate had just rejected me.

“Accept my rejection and I wish you well elsewhere,” he added, voice cold and ruthless.

The same voice that used to arouse sweet feelings inside me now crushed the last piece of thread holding me together.

Tears blurred my vision.

But I swallowed as I forced them back.

I refuse to break because of you, Draven, I said to myself.

And without another thought, I accepted his rejection.

“I, Lyra Vale, accept your rejection, Draven Rowling,” my eyes glowed.

“But I wish you no peace,” I sneered, my fingers curling. “As you've betrayed me today and hurt me in this manner, I wish you nothing but pain!”

“Goodbye, Lyra,” he muttered coldly, “Someday, you'll understand me.”

And then the link cut off.

A sharp pain ripped through my chest immediately and I clattered to the ground, holding my chest in pain.

Right there, as the pain of rejection and the pain of betrayal spread through every inch of me, I swore to rebuild my life.

I didn't care what it would take or how long it'd take. But I swore, I'd become someone so powerful and one day when I stepped foot into this Pack again, I'd not return as the humiliated and disgraced Lyra.

Lyra's POV “Look at them,” Aurora hissed as we strode to class after morning assembly. “The scariest female duo in school.” She sounded sarcastic with a hint of irritation in her tone.I followed her eyes and they landed on Evelyn Blackwell and Arabella Smith. “You know what I heard? Evelyn has been crushing on Zane Hawthorne for like the longest time but you know… Zane is all broody and quiet and dangerous… she's scared he'd probably reject her.”I wanted to ask how she knew all these, but then I didn't want her giving me the are-you-serious look again, so I just walked quietly beside her.Besides, a part of me was very reluctant about today's classes. It kept feeling as though something bad was about to happen. Aurora glanced at me. “You usually tie your hair in a ponytail. What happened today?”“A little switch up.”Couldn't possibly tell her how my scalp hurt from all the rigorous scrubbing I did in the bathroom that now even combing hurts like hell.“Looks great,” she said.

  • The Fake Heiress at Mooncrest Academy   Nah. Smelled like trouble

Lyra's POV If I got to tutor Zane, then I'd get my tuition fees sorted. I'd also be able to sit close to him again—not like it mattered in the long run of things anyways. Because he probably won't still notice me.But then I thought of it…Tutoring Zane Hawthorne?Nah. It was bound to be a headache. All I wanted was to study quietly… as though I didn't exist. “But you need the money,” came my wolf's urging voice. “You can think about it,” Mrs Hawthorne said, gathering her purse.“If you decide to do it, then I'd have a car pick you up in front of the academy tomorrow after school. And don't worry about permit.” She flashed a smile, her perfect dentition revealing. And then she was gone in a flash. Like she wasn't just here. For a moment, I sat there, different thoughts spiraling in my head. There couldn't have been a more perfect timing for this offer… Yet, everything about it screamed “danger!” Zane Hawthorne wasn’t just any kid in Crestmoon. He commanded a cult following from

  • The Fake Heiress at Mooncrest Academy   Help from the moon goddess?

Lyra's POV Hearing Zane Hawthorne, the hottest boy in Crestmoon academy say my full name sent my stomach doing another round of flips. Truth was, I'd always noticed him—everyone in Crestmoon did.In classes. In training. God, it was too hard not to notice him.And each time, for reasons even Aurora the great discoverer was yet to sniff out, he was always in a brooding and intense mood. No one dared speak to him unless he did first. He had a gang of two friends, was sharp and dangerous during physical training and was popular for having the worst grades in theory classes. “Driver!” He poked his head out of the window and beckoned to the taxi man. Then he rested his head against the seat and shut his eyes. I inhaled quietly, my hand dropping from the doorknob. Soon, the car started to move. I tried not to—really tried hard not to. But without knowing it, I found myself sneaking a peek at him. I'd always wondered what used to go through his mind when he stayed so silent. I us

Lyra's POVGrrrrrrng! The magical bell echoed across Crestmoon academy, signalling the start of the morning assembly.Immediately, all the students gathered in the huge open courtyard. The Moon courtyard—we called it. I was already there even before the bell rang.Headmaster Orion stepped onto the raised stone platform, his large, yet undersized shirt firmly tucked into his brown pants. The buttons looked like they would pop sooner than later. His belly was extra large. "Rule Number One," he started. “Control your wolf before you attempt to lead others." It was how he always started his morning address. Even after five months of being a student in Crestmoon academy, I had never seen him change this routine. One boy, an Alpha heir, scoffed. “Borrrring.” His name was Liam.“In Crestmoon academy,” Headmaster Orion continued, lightly touching the tip of his glasses. “Excellence must be your watchword.”“Yes sir!” Jon, the academy’s ‘notice me’ boomed in response. “Shut the fuck up
