CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE - EPILOGUE

It was an unassuming house, a three-story building, red brick with black shutters on a corner lot of the quiet street. Alex had parked two blocks away. Gareth and Matt took the back while Matilda and Alex approached from the street.

Brown leaves were scattered on the lawn. Two maple trees and some miniature shrubs offered little in the way of concealment, so they stayed to one side of the building.

"Hang back," Alex told Matilda.

"Yeah, right," she scoffed.

Alex glanced at his mother and saw an annoying smirk. Yes! She would find this interesting, he thought dryly. Especially after what she had done earlier.
