LOGIN“Is everything ready for tonight?” I asked, finishing up with the paperwork and putting every important pack related document safely in my safety locker.
“Yes, Xander, the entire pack is on lockdown, and all non warrior women and kids are safely in the safety bunkers,” my best friend and beta, Mason, said, sitting down on one of the seats in my office, throwing a pingpong ball in the air and catching it, repeating the motion. I heard from my spies that the hunters were planning on attacking my pack tonight, and I wanted to make sure that I was ready to face them head on, to put them in their place so that my pack can be the last pack that they will ever attack. These hunters have been a menace since my dad was alpha, and they've continued being a menace ever since I took over 12 years ago when I was eighteen. The only difference between now and then is the fact that they've gotten stronger, and they've wiped out nearly ninety percent of the packs here in North Carolina. Out of about 20 plus packs, Only five are left standing, with mine being the largest. For the last nine years, since the hunters started growing stronger, I've been trying to find out what led to their strength, but I keep coming up with nothing. I've even gone as far as sending some of my wolves to pose as human hunters just to get intel on why they are getting stronger, but so far none of them have come up with tangible information other than the fact that some little girl is their current leader and she's the one arranging everything, including recruiting other hunters from different continents. "Did Callisto and Maxwell report back anything?" I asked, going over to my wine cabinet and taking out a bottle of whiskey. "Yes, they are still at their camp, but they will be on their way soon, if not already on their way. You know, I think they've become stronger because of that Foster girl ," he thoughtfully said, putting down the pingpong ball while I poured two cups, handing him one. "I still can't believe the fact that the little girl I failed to kill nine years ago is the one causing all this mess,” I said with a sigh, sitting on my seat and downing the drink, my mind going back to that day. It was three years after I took over as alpha, me, my little sister, my girlfriend Alia who was by then pregnant with my pup and my parents, went to Moon chasers pack to celebrate my twin brother's birthday who was also the Alpha consort of moon chasers since he was mated to Alpha Claire Bell the female alpha. the party was going well when the hunters ambushed us, we tried to fight them off but they were too many, they wiped out everyone including my entire family and my beloved pregnant girlfriend Alia, leaving only me and My Brother Anthony's beta standing alive. I remember their deaths hit me so hard that I went crazy, and together with Mason (my Brother's beta) who had also lost his newly found mate and entirely family ran after the hunters killing them all, all except one little girl who was hiding in the closet. I remember hearing small, barely audible sniffs coming from the closet, and when I opened it, I saw her sitting on the floor, her legs brought up to her chest, her tear stained face facing me, with her big brown eyes fixed on mine, fear evident in them. I wasn't supposed to leave any survivors, but the moment I saw all that fear in her eyes, with those soft pink lips of hers trembling and ready to let out a sob, I knew I couldn’t do it. So I closed the closet doors and Mason and I lingered around until a man and a woman stopped their car by the little house with the woman rushing into the house while the man placed his hand above his head screaming out in anguish. Moments later the woman walked out crying wile carrying a sobbing little girl and after they left, mason and I left too going back to my pack. I knew that the newcomer would rebuild the hunter family, but what I didn't realize was the fact that he would gain so many members in a short period of time. It's because of this sudden growth that I sent Callisto and Maxwell, my newly shifted and unmated warriors, to pose as hunters just to keep an eye on Adelaide and also to give me intel on what was going on in their hunter camps, but despite that, no information came up other than the fact that the little girl, Adelaide, hated me with a passion and was training hard just so that she can kill me. “I know, right. And the funniest thing about all this is that she hates you with a passion and has a special dagger designed specifically to cut your big head off,” Mason chuckled, pouring another drink for himself while I sighed, putting my glass on the table and staring at the ceiling. “I should have probably killed her when I had the chance,” I murmured to my self but mason being a werewolf heard and he chuckled again, saying, “Well, she's no longer a little girl now, so I guess you’ll still get your chance—" “Alpha, hunters at the borders,” Julian, one of my top warriors and head of the patrol unit, said in the mindlink, and I growled, walking out of the office with Mason following beside me. The smirk and playfulness on his face now replaced with rage and the urge to kill. We both walked out of the pack house, and as soon as we were out, I let go of control, and my wolf Zarek took over, shifting into his midnight-black wolf that had pure white paws with a white and brown-streaked tail. Zarek let out a howl in the pack mindlink as him and Mason's wolf Lykos raced towards the borders, ready to face them head-on and ensure that they are finally put down. This time, my goal was to tie up my loose ends, to kill all of them so that they can never bother me and my pack again. As soon as we reached the border, I smelled them. Their scent was a mixture of wolfsbane, cloves, and a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg – all the scents that I hated. I could tell from their scents that they were still a bit far off, giving us just enough time to run after them and ambush them, but that wasn't my plan. My plan was to wait here with our jaws open, ready to slit their filthy throats and finally get rid of them all. "They are masking their scents with spices," Mason growled in the mindlink, while I seconded, "Yeah, so that we can't know who they are, but it doesn't matter, we will kill them all." "Leave no survivors!" I roared through the link, and my warriors roared with praise, while Mason informed, "Callisto and Maxwell are at the northern border with your little girlfriend Foster," "Maxwell Callisto, you both know what to do," I said, mindlinking them both while they growled, saying, "Yes, Alpha, we will ensure we get that landslide victory." As soon as the hunters were within range, I let out a howl, and we all jumped in, biting and killing them, not giving them a chance to fight back. The sound of growls, gunshots, and bombs echoed around the woods as we engaged in the largest and fiercest battle I've ever been in. I've fought before, against rogues, other packs, and even hunters, but none of the battles ever came close to the one I was currently engaged in. This one was larger and fiercer. There were more hunters than wolves, at a ratio of one to four, but despite the enemy outnumbering us, my wolves were strong, and so far, I only felt four tethers snap, informing me of the deaths of my warriors, which was less compared to the number of hunter bodies that were littered in the green grass. "Alpha, we need backup. They've managed to cross past the northern border and are heading to the pack house," one of my patrol men frantically said in my head and I knew exactly why they were heading there, for the defenseless women and children. These stupid hunters were fighting dirty but not on my watch. I finished killing off the three hunters I was fighting, then raced towards the northern border. As soon as I spotted several hunters fighting one of my wolves, I jumped in and, in a few minutes, I managed to clear them out, leaving only a handful standing. An arrow came flying out of nowhere, nearly missing me, and I jumped on the hunter that shot it but the moment my fangs sunk into the hunter's shoulder, a jolt of electricity coursed through my entire body, going straight to my core. "Mate!" Zarek voiced out, immediately retracting his fangs and taking a step back while I stared at my so-called mate, who was covered from head to toe, with only her eyes peaking out. I couldn't smell her scent, but judging by the shape and color of her eyes and the rage and anger swimming in them, I could tell it was a woman, who was none other than Adelaide Foster, my failed mission, the girl I had planned on killing tonight. Before I could even react, a bomb exploded on my side, silver dust coating Zarek's fur. He growled immediately giving me back control, and I shifted back into my human form to try and remove the dust. I was busy trying to dust myself that I didn't notice my mate had taken out a dagger ready to stab me until one of my wolves slammed into her, causing her to hit her back hard against the tree trunk. "Mine!" I found myself growling. My legs instinctively rushed towards her, forgetting all about the pain I was feeling. I wrapped my hand around her throat, helping her up, not so that I could hurt her again, but so that I could carefully assess her injuries while making sure that she was still but three arrows came flying from nowhere and hit me on the hip and side. The pain numbed the area, causing me to let go of her and in the blink of an eye, one of the hunters scooped her up and tossed her over his shoulder, followed by him running off. "Pursue them!" I growled, about to shift, but whatever was on the arrows was numbing my ability to shift, and before long, I couldn't feel the left side of my body. "Don't pursue!" I heard Mason shout. The wolves came to a halt while he draped my arm over his shoulder, saying, "The arrows were coated with wolfsbane, and Zarek is having trouble healing you, probably because of the silver powder that's on you. Let's get you to the hospital," he explained, leading the way while my mind went back to Adelaide, my heart completely disregarding the idea of a mate because there is no way in all things holy I am going to have a hunter for a mate, especially since that hunter is the reason why my pack has lost so many loved ones from the different packs that she helped wipe out."Please tell me you are joking?!" uncle Gideon said giving me a look of disbelief while Taylor and Sammy gave me disappointed looks. I had just told them that I'm going to Brian's party. "Myrah why the heck would you do something so stupid? The plan was to get to know him not go to his house and party!" he scolded while I just sat there looking like a deer caught in headlights. "Look uncle I'm sorry I---" "Sorry ? Sorry isn't going to fix it myrah, you are ruining the plans damn it!" "Just hear me out, uncle please," I stood up from my seat, "I know I messed up but just hear me out, This is a good opportunity for me to know my enemy from the inside. If I go to that party then I will gather some more information about Brian and his pack and maybe even about Damien," "Myrah ---" "Uncle, I know you are just worried about me but you don't have to worry, I won't blow our cover I promise. I will be cautious and make sure that I act according to plan I promise please just give me a c
What are you looking at? I asked finishing up the last slice of my pizza while looking at Brian who had his eyes fixed on me, with his pizza barely touched. Instead of responding, he moved his seat closer to mine and I felt my heart beat automatically increase at the close proximity. Why was I reacting like this?! I sat there frozen on spot as he removed my glasses followed by untying the pigtails and fixing up my hair a little. in my mind I was screaming at him telling him to stop but my body betrayed me, my eyes were glued to him. "You are really beautiful Ella," he compliment feeling the texture of my hair in his fingers. I felt heat creep up my cheeks This is the first time that a guy has ever told me that I look beautiful, well except Taylor and uncle Gideon. "Um thank you," I responded, tucking my hair behind my ears, and lowering my gaze. I felt his fingers brush against my cheeks and immediately, I faked a coughed. He quickly handed me the bottle of water that was on
"I don't think Myrah is the right person for this job. Why don't I do it?" Sammy spoke looking between me and Taylor. It was the second day and we were at school, making plans on how I will get closer to Brian and extract information out of him."No," I quickly denied and Taylor agreed with me saying, " Myrah has already befriended him, it's only natural that she executes the plan,""But Taylor, didn't you notice how she practically froze in front of him yesterday? She likes him and I'm sure if she spends more time with him then she will forget all about the mission and--""Yes, I remember," Taylor cut her off, "but she won't do it again right, Myrah? This time you will focus on the mission right?"His intense gaze was firmly on me,"Yes of course I won't, this mission is important to me. I will make sure I only get close to him for the sake of the mission and not for another reason,"Samy narrowed her eyes at me and I could tell she didn't want me to do this but had no say in it.Sh
I took a deep breath walking toward them and the moment they noticed me approaching, they stopped talking and look at me."Hi Brian," the other girl whose name I didn't know, greeted and I lightly smiled at her directing my gaze back on my mate who looked anywhere else but me.Can't she just for one second look at me?"Hey," I said to her trying to grab her attention, she looked at me for a split second then focused her eyes on the bracelet she was wearing."Um I -- I will just go to the bathroom," she turned around walking off and the girl followed behind her asking her what was wrong while the guy just looked at me, shrugged his shoulders and followed them.A sigh of frustration escaped my lips but before I could do anything---"Brian! Rogues at the northern territory fast!"Hearing the term rogueI ran off in the direction Daniel said and thankfully it wasn't an army of rogues but just a dozen of them.Since our pack was strong but not as strong as the other packs we were able to
"Hi, I'm Brian, nice to meet you," I froze in shock when I saw the figure that stood right Infront of me, He was even more perfect and more handsome up close. I couldn't help but stare at his well-sculpted face that housed a perfect jawline with high cheekbones. A slightly pointy nose that had a tint of red. He had eyes that were the lightest shade of brown that gave off an innocent yet mysterious vibe. I looked down at his plum red cherry lips and I instinctively bit mine wondering how they would taste. My eyes went lower scanning his chest and I could see an outline of abs peaking from the tight round neck t-shirt that he wore. He looked delicious. I took in a deep breath and he smelled amazing like freshly baked cookies and a tint of petrichor, my favourite scent. I saw him flex his muscle tussling his light brown almost Blonde hair to one side and that one action made me want to forget everything and the reason why I was here in the first place. "Fiorella," Someone whisp
