Chapter 2

last update Last Updated: 2021-05-19 01:26:57

I wavered in my seat as I blinked trying to clear my vision. Dizziness overwhelmed me, I felt as if I was going to be sick. I reached out my hand to steady myself dropping the knife, before setting my hand on the blade.

I hissed at the pain radiating from my hand, I could smell blood. My head began to throb. I felt my shoulders burst into flames. After a few seconds I could tell two large hands were supporting me. A whimper escaped me as the area around me spun.

I felt him adjust my body onto his pulling my head to his chest. I was unable to protest, honestly, I am not sure if I even had the thought. It felt so good, he laid an arm across my chest and I gripped it as I was pulled into another memory.

My brain became overloaded, I was hardly able to keep up. I tried to allow myself to remember, but it was too much. I was only able to gather one piece of information. Alexander was right, he was my other half, my mate, my oxygen. How had I lived for so long without him? I could feel my body begin to shake.

My brain was processing the memories of shifting. Wolves? Shapeshifting? Wait, we are wolves? If I have always been a wolf in the past, what went wrong this time? Why has this life been so different? Are we being punished for something?

The memories finally stopped on one scene. I was on my knees, multiple chains binding me, suppressing my magic. The Alpha of the Outlaw pack stood by my chained mate. I was screaming my eyes glowing red trying to overpower the chains. I couldn’t shift, my powers would not work, the elements could not come to my aid. I could not save him.

The alpha ripped Alexander’s head from his shoulders. Tossing it in front of me. I felt my soul shatter. I let a terrible howl release into the sky. I looked deep into the eyes of the alpha that killed my love, with a single tear dropping from my eye I whispered to him. “I’ll see you around.”

My tone caused the wolves around us to whimper though they did not hear. I could see the alpha’s eyes widen. I then closed my eyes, exhaling my last breath, effectively stopping my heart. I didn’t need magic; it was already broken.

I could hear someone yelling in the distance. I felt Lex’s lips press against mine as I began to wake up; I didn’t realize I had blacked out. My heart leapt at the feeling and I deepened the kiss wanting more. He pushed me to the ground I gasped as he disappeared.

“Astrid, for the love of…” Kilian was yelling as he approached my jumbled body lying on the blanket. “What are you doing out here?” He was irate. “Did you cut yourself? Why did you cut the blanket and not just come inside? What the hell are you thinking?” He was almost yelling.

I looked down at my hand that had been wrapped in a piece of the cloth. I quickly figured out that Lex had bandaged me up. I tried to straighten my thoughts; my head was still swirling.

“I was meditating, I must have fallen asleep. I didn’t want to break my concentration and go inside; I only took the knife out because I saw a dog.” I explained rolling my eyes throwing excused together.

“Because sleeping alone in the woods at 3 AM is a great idea!” He replied, now yelling.

“3 AM?” I responded stunned.

It was only around 10:00 PM when I came outside, Lex showed up right after that… I forgot about Kilian. No wonder he took off like that.

Then it hit me. What was I doing? Kilian is my husband. Yes, Alexander is… well everything. How do I even find him? I don’t have time for this nonsense with Kilian. My heart began to ache at the pain he will soon feel. I can’t stay with him knowing that Lex is out there. No one would be able to go back knowing what I now know.

I lifted myself up pushing my hand down on a piece of paper. Not knowing what it was, I balled it up in my hand picking up the blanket simultaneously. Kilian turned and I followed. I was overcome with guilt.

“I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to out so long.” I said softly.

“I know you didn’t.” He said giving me a small smile.

Once we were inside, I went into the bathroom to clean my hand, and clear my head. After bandaging the cut, I locked the door and smoothed out the paper from my hand.

Princess

Lunch tomorrow

1:30

Meet here, I’ll bring the food

Always,

Lex

I placed the paper in the trash before attending to my cut. It was healing quickly. It wasn’t as quick as what I remember in the past. My wolf abilities usually strengthened it, but they were gone. I wasn’t born of wolves this time.

I walked out of the bathroom into the bedroom to see Kilian naked rubbing his shaft. I sighed internally. It’s not that I didn’t love him anymore, but now I had centuries of emotions for Lex filling my soul and brain.

“I know I’ve been distracted the last few weeks…” He said trying to be seductive.

“I figured I would be ready for you when you came out. I can help with stress relief.”

He was up on his knees crossing the bed towards me. He was right, he had ignored me for the last 3 weeks with barley any attention. I wanted to be wanted, to have someone look at me as if I am the only one they need. The way that Alexander has always looked.

I don’t think Alexander expects me to just stop being married right now. He was the one that left. If he wanted me to abruptly end things with Kilian, he would have stayed. He had been watching from the sidelines for a year, what’s a few more nights while I figure this out? I decided.

I closed the distance of the room taking my shirt off, leaving my green lace bralette on. I stopped just before the bed removing my leggings leaving the thong.

“Better just take those off too.” He said pointing to my panties.

I slipped them off and crawled onto the bed. Kilian crushed his lips against mine, pulling me in. He slid onto his back pulling my thighs to straddle him. I felt his erection against my center.

I gently rolled my hips against him. He groaned at the feeling. I moved my kiss from his lips down his neck. I spun myself around to align my mouth with his manhood. I took it in my hand massaging it up and down.

He bucked his hips forward begging access to my mouth. I gladly obliged, tracing the tip with my tongue before granting it access. Opening my mouth wide, my firm grip helped his shaft slide deep into my throat, causing a moan to surround his member. I began to thrust my head up and down when he grabbed me pulling me up.

“Sorry, it’s been too long, you’ll make it to quick.” He said apologetically.

“Okay” I said simply with a small smiling still massaging him.

He pulled me onto him sliding his member into me. I moved back and forth; my nerves happy to be alive again. I could feel his climax was close, I reached down flicking my bean to bring my climax sooner. Knowing I was not close enough I allowed the memories of Alexander and I to enter my thoughts. Thinking about the way he felt inside me sent me over the edge just in time.

Kilian grabbed my hips digging his fingers into my skin as he reached his climax. The slight pain causing more pleasure to coarse though my veins and I moaned in response. I gently moved my hips a few times to try to keep our session going, but Kilian tightened his grip and held me in place.

I slowly moved myself off him and he rolled over to sleep. I looked at his back for a few minutes feeling used, unwanted, and empty. I decided to shower before heading to the couch to sleep for the night.

A few more days passed. Gunny and I finally began to lose hope and devise a plan to search for our missing group. I couldn’t think about what may have happened to them. I wanted to know they were okay. Randolph was a fierce warrior above everything else. It hadn’t been long enough since the last time I thought I may lose him. I needed to find him. No matter the cost. I expected Lex to fight me on leaving, to protest my partner. I always had Alexander by my side. Through the thousands of years, we had been together, we always had each other. When he agreed to stay behind to help develop our settlement, I was shocked. Not knowing the status of Randolph, Helga or the others was to much for both of us to bare. As Gunny and I sat near the fire a few days before the full moon, Freya came running

Waking this time was easier than the last. I was glad that I didn’t feel as restricted waking. I could see the bright light creeping from the open doorway. The curtain along side the bed I slept in was open. I slowly sat up making sure I didn’t move to fast. When I realized I was moving okay and there were no side effects from the tonic Lex gave me I began to move faster. I could hear giggling and kids playing around. My heart leapt, the thought of Freya and Ingrid being here. All the uncertainty in the world had my nerves on edge I just needed to know my family is safe. Sylvi sat with Mason on her lap next to Chase and Killian. Bjorn and Chase decided on using my late ex-husbands name when adopting the little boy. Bjorn felt it was important to ask Helga, Ingrid, and Freya’s permissi

After we were settled, I paced around the complex looking for any weak points. Lex had tried to convince me to get some rest, but I had no need for it. I wanted to make sure the children we brought here were safe. I needed to know when the rest of my pack would arrive, they would be too. “Astrid…” Lex’s voice full of sympathy came from behind me. “I don’t like your tone… Or your guilt.” I responded sensing it through the mate bond. “There was another attack. We lost a few more…” Lex began to explain but I raised my hand cutting him off. &ld

I woke disoriented. I wasn’t sure what was happening around me. I could tell I wasn’t in my bed. I kept my eyes closed trying to hear anything around me. My hearing was distorted, a faded ringing was the only sound in my head. I moved my body slightly careful not to draw attention to myself. I was unable to tell what I was laying on. The only comfort I had was the blanket loosely placed on me. I began to grow inpatient. I forced my eyes open ready for anything. Or so I thought. Looking around the dim-lit cabin I was infuriated. How did I get onto the plane without realizing I had been moved? Many questions began to flood my mind as my vision cleared. I was finally able to see Lex approaching where I laid across the two seats on the plane.

I sat naked, on the floor, in the center of my ritual blanket. The candlelight flickered softly against my skin. I was doing my best to relax and remain open calling to the gods. I wanted reassurance that we were making the right move. I had no need for more bloodshed. I let out my frustration as a sigh and a roll of my eyes. “I know I have been busy and closed off, but that was just because so much happened.” I said aloud. “I just need something, anything to tell me we are doing what is right!” I yelled. Nothing happened. After all the times the goddess had spoke though me, my moments in other worlds with them, nothing. I felt a sense of desertion, like they had abandoned me. We were not turning out like they wished, they finally had enough. A knock on the door startled me.

The last week went by in the blink of an eye. The repairs were mostly completed around the packhouse We listed the farm for sale, the clearing team was almost finished. An offer came in 2 days after listing, we accepted glad to be rid of the horrific scene. I stood on the back porch with my coffee watching the teenagers training. There were 2 children, 11 and 10 years old, trying to mimic the advanced moves. I took a breath of fresh air, the breeze was cool but it was warmer than average. I heard footsteps approach and felt Sylvi’s presence before she spoke. “You seem to be in a good mood today.” She said holding her cup over the railing. “A week with no future attacks will do that.&rdquo
