An awkward situation

**Felicia POV

Jade, you're starting to scare me.

He wasn't listening to me and ended up arriving in front of the tree. He stood there for several seconds.

Shit, he had found it.

How were we going to explain it to him without him realizing what was happening with Nate's injury?

As I asked myself a bunch of questions, I heard him sigh, "I was convinced someone was here just now."

"What, how? There's no one?" I walked up to the tree and saw that Nate was no longer there. But he couldn't have escaped without us noticing.

"Where did that ringing come from then?" Jade asked

As he spoke, I felt something fall onto the jacket that Jade had given me. When I touched the liquid with my finger, I realized it was blood.

Nate was still there. He had hidden himself above us, in the branches.

"You scared me, damn it!" Exhaling

"Sorry, my dear. Let's get outta here."

He kissed me on the forehead and we left the courtyard to join the atmosphere of the party.

Alicia seemed to have regained her energy and was having fun on the dance floor with another boy.

"Hmm not bad, not bad," I said

"What, you think he's handsome?"

"Oh come on, not as much as you."

I pretended to be in the party, but all my attention was elsewhere.

Jade was already sticking to me and would eventually suspect something if I tried to be alone again for too long.

A few steps away from me, I saw Oliver struggling to drink his beer while manipulating his phone.

"Oliver!" Approaching him

"Hey?"

"Have you been able to reach Nate on the phone?" I asked

"No, he's still not answering. He could have at least let me know."

"Um... can you give me his number?"

He remained silent for a few seconds and looked at me suspiciously.

"It's just that I have something important to tell him and I can't wait to see him for it."

"Yeah, I know, expressing your feelings isn't easy. But don't worry, I think you're on the same page."

What was he talking about?

"Um..."

"Here." He said, showing me the numbers

"Thanks."

"You're welcome. I'm out of here!"

A few minutes later, I sent him a DM, "It's Felicia, where are you?"

"In my room," He answered

"We need to talk."

He didn't reply and I went to join Jade.

Knowing he was okay reassured me, but I also wanted to understand what I had seen.

A wound couldn't heal that quickly.

The party was in full swing and everyone was having fun.

Jade and I were too tired to go home and ended up falling asleep at Alicia's.

***

Early Sunday morning, she was already waking us up to clean up the house.

"Wake up lovebirds! My parents will be here soon."

"Alicia, let us sleep a little longer," I said

"No no no, my mother must not find you here." She refused

"What day is it?"

"Sunday and you need a good cup of coffee. Go get some in the kitchen downstairs."

I arrived in the kitchen and saw the backyard lit up by the sun. It was less scary during the day.

I finished filling my cup and went to the foot of the tree Nate had leaned against the day before.

So I wasn't dreaming.

His injury, those golden, sharp eyes.

"Felicia, what are you looking for?" Alicia asked

"Oh, uh, nothing."

She came over to me and looked up at the branches.

"I thought you didn't like this place." Alicia said

"That's still the case. But it's less scary in the morning." I answered

She laughed and caressed my shoulder, "Thanks for yesterday. I don't know what I'd do without you."

"I love you too, little crazy one."

"And I'm sorry. When you were in trouble, I hesitated to call for help."

"Because you were afraid your parents would find out. And Jules took it badly."

"Did you guys talk?" Alicia asked

"No, I could hear you."

"What? How?"

"It's not important, forget it. I don't blame you. It's okay to be afraid, but in the end, you called for help." Hugging her

"Do you think I should apologize to Jules?"

"And Jade too." I added

We had finished cleaning up the house and went our separate ways.

Despite my routine that would resume on Monday morning, I felt that something had changed.

I was apprehensive about my next meeting with Nate and in a way, I was afraid of discovering the truth about what he was.

Monday had not been long in coming.

I arrived on campus and stopped in front of the biology class, scanning the inside like a robot.

"Felicia, are you looking for Nate?" Oliver asked, approaching me at the door

"Oh yes, is he not here yet?"

"He left me a message. He said he won't be coming. He's become weird all of a sudden. Have you talked to him?" All intrigued

"No, not really."

"Okay, well, I'll leave you to it."

I took a deep breath and decided to join my class.

"Nate Sullivan... " I sighed

Once the class was over, Alicia suggested a restaurant with Jules.

"No, I can't, I'm going to the library."

"The library?" Looking disgusted

"Yes."

"Since when do you go to the library?" She asked

"I need to study before the exams. Unlike you, I'm here thanks to a scholarship, so..."

"You have to work hard, etc."

"Exactly. Bye. I'll call you." I Said, Leaving

Once in the library, I went to get a book on behavioral psychology and started reading it on the spot.

An hour later, as I was lost in my thoughts, I started thinking about Nate again.

About his hand gripping my arm and him pleading with me not to say anything...

I looked around me and saw students holding books on the supernatural.

That's when it occurred to me to take a look at the books on supernatural creatures.

"Vampires, Jinns, Ghosts... Damn it."

I was browsing aimlessly, not knowing which book to choose, until a male voice finally broke the silence around me and almost scared me.

"I scared you, didn't I?" He said, leaning against the shelf

"Sûre !" I said, with my hand on my chest

"I'm Sorry."

"It's nothing. You're... The librarian."

"Derrick, pleased to meet you!"

"Felicia."

"Usually when you come here, it's to read books on psychology. So I'm quite surprised to see you in this section, especially since you don't seem to know what you're looking for."

"You're right..." I resigned myself

"Let me help you. Do you have at least an idea, a thought that comes to mind?" She asked

"Um... wounds that heal quickly!?" I said

"That's pretty explicit. Well, there aren't many creatures that heal from wounds. So we have vampires and werewolves."

"Werewolves. That's it."

"Oh, and specifically for what?" He asked

"What do you mean?"

"Do you want something fictional or something a little more real...?"

"Something a little more real." I said kindly

He paused for a few seconds and looked me in the eyes. With his imposing height, I felt his presence covering me despite the distance between us. I began to be intrigued.

"Did I say something strange?"

"Well... You don't seem like a person who fantasizes about werewolves like those young people over there."

I turned and looked at the students in question and they seemed very excited.

"It looks like you're looking for something very specific. Am I wrong?" Looking at me as if trying to probe me

"It sounds like an interrogation. Is there what I'm looking for?"

"Oh yes, I think I can help you. Give me a moment."

He went behind his desk and came back a few seconds later with a book in his hand, which he handed to me.

"Why wasn't it put away?"

"Someone gave it to me a few days ago and I didn't have time to put it away. A very strange young man, I must say."

"Do you remember his name? Well, if it's not indiscreet."

"Hmm 'Sullivan' something like that, but I can check in the register if you want." Derrick proposed

"No need, thank you."

So Nate had been here.

I looked at the book in question and the title immediately sharpened my curiosity.

'The Wolves of Newcastle.'

"An old book. The author tells inside his experience with a pack of wolves. But we never really knew which category to classify his book." He said

"And why is that?" Leafing through the document

"Several years after the book was published, he confessed in a conference that this work was based on real events. That nothing was fictional. He had said, I quote, 'They are among us, taking our form during the day, and that of superpowerful creatures at night'.. "

"And nobody believed him?" I asked

"He was old and almost senile when he said it, so..."

"I see. I'll take it, thank you."

"You're welcome." He said smiling.

"Tell me, do you think he was right?"

"I'm just a librarian, come on." Looking fixedly at mine

Despite everything, Derrick seemed intriguing to me.

"Yes... Okay."

I ended up crossing him to go log the book, and he stopped me in my tracks.

"But if you want advice. You should be careful. The more you know, the more you put yourself in danger."

His words sent shivers down my spine. As I turned to question him, I saw him already talking to someone else. In their exchange, he looked at me and I could barely hold his gaze. I ended up leaving.

As night fell, while Jade slept, I delved into the book I had taken.

"It's incredible, it really sounds like he's telling lived facts." I murmured, surprised

"They have a great healing capacity, which varies depending on the wolf. The alpha wolf: He is capable of submitting the entire pack to his will and has scarlet red eyes that distinguish him from the beta (green) and the omega (blue or black)."

"Nate...," As I flipped through the pages, I came across a strange remark about a particular wolf.

"With golden yellow eyes. The influential wolf is capable of... This isn't complete. Pages are missing. Why?"

"Baby?" Jade called

I closed the book and carefully put it in my bag, "Hey?"

"It's late, what are you still doing up?" Jade asked

"Just reviewing a bit. But I'm done now. Shall we go?" I said

"Are you sure I'm not interrupting?" Kissing me on the mouth

"No, don't worry."

Jade was a sex machine. I could feel in his kisses that he wanted it.

"Shall we go to the bedroom?" Tickling me in the neck

"Hmmm, I'm tired, baby. Another time, okay?"

"Okay, mi amor."

***

The next day on campus, I stopped in front of the biology room and Oliver was still alone.

He waved at me and I understood that Nate wasn't going to show up again today.

I opened my messaging app and wanted to leave him a message. But I immediately deleted it...

I had a much better idea in mind.

I took my phone to inform the office that I would be absent due to the flu.

At the end of class, instead of going straight home, I decided to go to Nate's.

Luckily for me, I had a very good memory. I had managed to remember the address that was written on his report.

But I didn't imagine that he lived in such a huge house.

It was basically a mansion!

I didn't know how to enter, so I wanted to ring the gate when I heard him behind me.

"What are you doing here?"

"Nate..." I said a little suprised

"Answer me!" He said, his face covered by the hood of his jacket

"We need to talk."

"We have nothing to say to each other!" He said coldly

On the intercom, he asked the guard to open the gate and I followed him.

We entered the living room and went to his bedroom upstairs.

"You and I have nothing to say."

"Have you recently read this book?" I asked, showing him the book about wolves

"That doesn't mean anything. And what are you doing? Are you a cop now?"

"You're some kind of creature of the night. A werewolf, right?"

He started laughing and added, "You're delusional!"

"Don't talk nonsense, I know what I saw the other night!" I was getting irritated

"Oh, so you're doing drugs too, huh?"

The reference he made about Mrs. Grey cooled me off.

"I'm sorry. It's just that it still seems too unreal to me."

"Yeah, that's right, let me laugh." He stood in front of me, towering over me with his height.

He took off his jacket and shirt, revealing his bare chest, and took a step towards me.

Standing before his towering figure, I felt like melting under his charm. But that wasn't what interested me. I looked down at the spot where he had been wounded, but there was nothing there, not even a scratch.

"You see? Now we're both drugged," he said.

I still couldn't believe it. I was intrigued by his body's ability to heal like that. I delicately placed my hands on the spot where he had been injured and caressed it slowly.

"And it's not the first time it's happened," he remarked.

"Just tell me one thing," I said, looking up at him, somewhat afraid of what I was about to ask.

What if he killed me after this?

"No, Felicia, bad idea. You need to leave."

"I'm listening. What do you want to know?" he asked.

"The three deaths in Tollymore Forest. Was it you?" I finally asked

There were a few seconds of silence as he studied my gaze. Just as he was about to respond, the door to his room opened.

"Oliver!?" Nate exclaimed.

"Oh, shit!" Oliver said.

Just behind him, Rose entered the room and found us.

"Big brother, your friend came to see you. He's worried about... Oh, my God!" she exclaimed, covering her mouth.

I looked at my hand on Nate's bare chest, and then our eyes met. We both understood what Rose and Oliver were thinking.

"This is not at all what you think!" we shouted in unison.
