"These are the most important rules," Edit says in her usual, sombre voice and then places a paper in front of me with bullet points listing the rules. I pick it up and start reading.
• Clean your room
• Respect the teacher
• Feed your bat(s)
The moment I read that I laughed so hard. "What bats?" I ask after recovering from my laughing fit. I continue eating my scrambled eggs as Edith explains. "Well, when the school first started they had a mango farm to import, to support the costs of the academy."
She started but Anna interrupted her by saying, "She's madly obsessed with the history of this place." Edith rolls her eyes at this and says, "I am not madly obsessed, it's just interesting." she says, giving special attention to the word madly.
"Why are you even here in the first place? Aren't just the people with special talents accepted in this place?" I ask Anna, not in a rude way, more just in a curious way. I get Edith's really smart, her genius is probably why she's here.
She shrugs and says, "I'm an activist, started such a big riot in my town that the second in command came down to our little town and fixed the problem." She said with a proud smirk.
"What was the problem?" I ask her, almost hesitant to find out. She simply shrugs and says, "Didn't like the flowers." I chuckle and ask, "What do you mean you 'didn't like the flowers'?" Before she could reply Edith started talking again.
"Anyways, fruit bats really like the mangos and wouldn't leave. So, they kept them and for some odd reason, each bat clings to a different person." They then promised to take me to the bats once our classes were all done.
I nodded excitedly and continued reading.
• Do your homework
• Don't bother the King
That one creeps me out. I mean is common sense not to bother the person with the highest authority in all of the land, but the thing is, over the last few weeks I haven't seen or heard the King at all.
And the curiosity is scratching at me to try and find him. See what he looks like, smells like, talks like. Like something is pulling me to him, nagging me to find him. When I ask the girls about them they just say, "Nobody has ever seen him. He has his younger brother to be his spokesperson but all we know is that one time, somebody got a glimpse of him and was expelled immediately."
This is fascinating for me. Where does he live? What does he do? Why does he hide away? When did he decide to hide away? How does he manage without talking to anybody? How has nobody seen him? So many questions swirling around in my mind like a whirlwind shaking my head, making it spin with curiosity.
Anna quickly changed the subject to the rest of the rules, not wanting to get philosophical this early in the morning, and luckily for her, the bell rang. Signifying that breakfast is over, Edith and I go get our bags and head to our first class.
I have an off period and decided to go back to my room to do some homework. I am sitting down at my desk when there's a knock on my door. When I open the door it the same old lady as this morning.
She smiles at me and asks, "Miss Fisherman?" She smiles at me. I nod at her, rolling my eyes as she already knows who I am. She hands me a bracelet. "You have to wear this at all times, except, of course when you're in the water. When working with water you have to press this button" she says, showing me the button. " If you do break the rules, it will alert a teacher. Got it?"
"Why do we have to wear this? Isn't that a bit close to say, a prison system?" I question, not willing to accept this so easily. She seems to shift her feet. "It's for dissipline mostly." Her explanation seems acceptable. "How did they make it?" I ask, wondered by the detailed engineering. "I'm not sure. They don't tell me any of this. You should ask these types of questions to the principle." She commands, still her voice is unsure.
I say my thanks and close the door. I then put it on, I wonder how they made this thing? It's obviously before it's time. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made with magic. I chuckle at how ridiculous that is and continue with my work.
Later when our classes were over Edith and Anna came by to help me get a bat. They took me to these, huge, glass doors. It is inside this greenhouse dome, I can see several bats swarm the plantation. The dome is huge, there are small rooms everywhere that have one mango tree and water buckets.
"Now all you have to do is stand there and wait for a bat to come to you," Anna said padding me on my shoulder. With that, they leave, standing outside the doors, as not to compromise the right bat choosing me.
The moment my two new friends exited the room all the bats flew away from me. Not a single bat even came close to me. The fluttering of their wings, gone. The dome fell completely silent, I stood there for so long and nothing.
With a happy sigh, I left. I really didn't want to deal with a bat, the thing is nasty anyway. My friends were really stunned by that but I ignored them and went on with my day.
The rest of my day went on as normal, well as normal as it could have been. That night I didn't struggle to sleep at all.
Where there used to be fires as tall as houses and mothers running to protect their children there's now peace. The emanating fear of Alexander taking the kingdom over and the war running the castle flat there is now only calm. It seems to me that the mess has all been cleaned up and taken care of. I turn to Levi, our hands still twisted together. He looks down at me, his perfectly formed eyebrows raise. "What do you think happened?" He questions, shaking my head with a shrug. "I'm not sure." Suddenly I see Dixie running to us at full speed. She seems to have more royal dressed than she usually is. With the not-so-far distance, I also see a speeding Levin. He also is in much more fine clothing. Attire that we wear when we have a meeting with other royals. With extreme force, Dixie wraps her arms around my body. "Kathleen! I've missed you so much!" The short-haired girl exclaims while giving me a bone-crushing hug. I furrow my brows, huggi
Golden clouds and pure, heavenly sunlight. Mountains, castles wast lands that encompass a beauty beyond the mortal mind. Fresh eyes with silky smooth and soft to the point of not even feeling the fabric gowns. Hair so feathery light, seeming as if it's made out of pure crystals. This is the plane of the gods. I just knew it. I know it by heart, Moon would take me here every time he missed his family. His mother, his creator, and the friends he'd made along the way. He'd make sure that the moon was perfectly in the sky until we left. So much has changed in the time I was gone. I remember all the time on earth and the time in the heavens. I look over to my side. There he is. The man with such a history in my life. He still looks the way he always did- as Moon. On Earth, he didn't have his silver glow. None of the humans do, even myself. I found it odd, there it's harder to see- rather feel- what type of person they are. Everyone had their own colour. Moon's
I was just informed of the troops that were on the side of my castle. The symbols that they bore were proof that they are from Ladian. This caused severe panic within the kingdom and castle. For me, however, it was infuriating. I thought I made sure that they left? This does mean war. Yet not right now.As a result of the fact that Alexander is lighting the most populated town on fire. It's right by the town square. Not far from the castle. I'm sure that the enemies were instructed to make sure that they don't attract attention. Yet, they decided now is the time. The knights have already trampled the town by the right and left side wings.Things are happening extremely quickly. At this moment, I honestly don't know what to do. Usually, by this time, the darkn
The next morning we all sat at the breakfast table. I expected there to be a sullen silence, but no, Dixie and Levin were chatting up the storm. Here I sit at the head of the table, the seat next to me is open. It's specially built for two head seats. Kathleen's sits open. The two first seats also stay open. It's etiquette, for if we ever were to have kids. Kathleen never wanted kids. She explained how she was scared of giving birth. How she felt that women are pressured into having kids. That it feels as if women's only value is to have kids. We haven't discussed who would rule the kingdom after we die. I suppose I won't die, I can only be killed. I've killed enough people for me to live at least another 1000 years. Probably plenty, upon plenty more years. Yet, Kathleen won't. She won't make it past 80. Then...I'll be all alone again. I didn't think of that, that night when she came knocking on my door. These two smiling faces in front of me also will die one da
I didn't know why the dream affected me so. It makes me happy, seeing such an amazing sight. Yet it brings me longing, a longing for him. To see him, to feel him just to be near him. Anything for that, like my soul yearns for him. Is that right? Wanting for another man when I'm married. They do look the same, almost exactly the same. More than Alexander ever did. Also, why do I keep seeing the dream from Star's point of view? Shouldn't I be seeing it from my own view? That doesn't make much sense, I should be seeing it from the outside body. Or perhaps a side character. I don't understand any of it, but I do know that I need him. Everything about him is perfect and I need him. It reminds me of how I crave Levi. "Holy Star! What on earth is happening here?" I hear a voice above me. My eyes flash open and I behold the person looking down at me. It's Leigh, her eyes are big and she's looking around at the area by me. "It's so early, why are you guys a
It has been a day-long trip. Anna, Leigh, Kilyn and I have been travelling through these woods at a steady pace. Now, here we are at the old lady, Aphy's little hut. "That's strange. No one but us lives here. Nobody has since the capitol of Northmere's been built." Kilyn explains as we all start to slow down. The sun is about to set and I told them we could sleep here. I'm not sure what happened to Aphy. Leigh and I tried to free all the women who were being trafficked by King Leonardo. Yet when we got there they'd already been taken back. Aphy wasn't even in the tent when I was taken in. I simply assumed she wouldn't mind if we stayed here for the night. Heck, maybe she's even back here. I crinkle my brows at Kilyn's words. "What do you mean? Clearly, someone does." I point
