She did what? and Kellen just seems to be taking everything in stride as he does. What are your thoughts, my lovely readers? Thank you for reading, if you liked the chapter please leave a gem and your comments.
TALA I couldn’t believe I marked him, I didn’t regret it, but I was definitely mad at my wolf. Mora had seen her opportunity to push through and take over and she took it. Lost in bliss when my orgasm started to rip through me, she took advantage of my vulnerable state, coming to the forefront and marking her mate. I didn’t even know my mate, Kellen, only what Oliver had told me. Yet I had all these feelings for him, feelings that I didn’t understand, or at least understand where they were coming from. ‘The mate bond’ Mora’s voice filled my head for the first time in a long time. After marking Kellen I was feeling her presence more than ever. ‘How can I feel so strongly about someone I don’t know? I don’t even know his age, or if he has siblings, What his favorite food is, or color,” I began ranting to her. ‘All in due time, we can get to know these things. Our mate was made for us. We will love everything about him’ My wolf spoke, her words having a calming effect on me. Telling
Day 13 of The Games KELLEN Today was my day to fight. I had woken just before sunrise, watching the peak of the sun come up over the horizon. Its orange glow of the breaking dawn reminded me of the hot flames of a fire, distorting the air around it as the heat rose with a golden orb, creating a mirage. I walked out into the open common area where it was still deadly silent. I had noticed in my first few days the lack of vegetation and animals. Not a single bird called out in the morning and not a single cricket chirped when night fell. I walked the common area for a couple of hours, not really thinking of anything in particular except for my upcoming Gladiator match today. My thoughts drifted to home, they were mostly of Mike and Lamia. I also couldn’t help but wonder if Uncle Michael and Uncle Marcus were still running the Kingdom or if Mike had had to take over. I wondered if they were still searching for me or if they had given up. I had been here for how long? Two months? I c
KELLEN The opposing contenders began yelling something in a foreign language at each other. However, I didn’t need to understand their words. Their dark and malevolent eyes said it all, and the vicious and barbarous smirks they each wore told me they were going to go for the kill. “This is it,” I heard Ajani say and I turned my head to look at him. Without the need for words, we turned our backs on each other taking a fighting stance, weapons in hand at the ready. Standing back to back we had a better chance of fending off the opponents, they would not be able to come at us all at once otherwise they would end up striking each other. I watched them as they circled us, waiting for them to make their move, the two on horses cantering in a wider circle. We didn’t have to wait long as the other four advanced, twirling or swinging their weapons. The first clank of metal on metal came from behind me when Ajani blocked an attack. I had no time to look as two of the barbarians leaped towa
Day 14 of The Gladiator Games KELLEN The atmosphere amongst the Gladiators in the barracks was somber, to say the least. Not that any of us were ever really charismatic being enslaved. Ajani’s death had hit our hearts and the reality of our situation was once again shoved in our faces. We had lost Gladiators previously and we all acknowledged each of their deaths. No death was good and each man we lost to the games sat heavy in our hearts and minds. We had become an unaffiliated pack of sorts. However, Ajani had been a strong fighter the Gladiators looked up to him and they all knew he was not in top shape when he went out to fight, that was one reason why I was taking his death harder more than the others. The other reason kept playing in my head over and over like a film being rewound. He had saved my life in the arena. We both could have been dead if it wasn’t for him. Rogue sat by me, he had been by my side since I walked off the arena floor, patting my shoulder as I passed thr
Day 15 of The Gladiator Games TALA “Eloise! Tala!” Jasper's frantic voice could be heard along with his hurried footsteps. We didn’t get a chance to see him yesterday and he had put a block up to us. So when he sent us a mind link early in the morning to meet him at our usual nook in the library, Eloise and I had rushed here. “Jasper, what’s wrong?” My friend rushed to his side quickly seeing the panic in his eyes and the distress that his whole posture held. His light green eyes were rimmed red from exhaustion and his brown hair was ruffled like he had been grabbing it all night. “Jasper…” The state of his discountenance caused my own heart to flutter with anxiety. Something had really unsettled him. He shook his head seeming perplexed “He is going to kill him,” “Who?” Both Eloise and I said before Jasper could even utter another word. “He knows, fuck, he knows he is your mate Tala! He is going to kill him today if he survives the arena. He is making him fight again, changed
KELLEN I felt Rogue's worry and deep concern as Teal dropped the bomb on me “He knows she is your mate.” He had coughed up when he came too. “He will fight you, he will kill you.” Teal’s pained-filled words had sat heavily on my mind since he uttered them this morning. Rogue was clearly upset and I wished we could somehow converse. I may understand him better now, but I needed words, it was important to me that I had his opinion, not just give him commands or tell him what to do. I was definitely missing my Beta at this moment. Everything I did, every decision I made was with Mike’s input. We were a team and I valued his advice. I valued Rogues too, more so now that Ajani was no longer with us, but the communication barrier with Rogue hindered me: us. I found myself wandering the common area, gathering my thoughts, the sharp and shiny sword the old woman had bestowed upon me, twirling in my hand. My mind was on the fight that I was being thrown into this afternoon; There was no way
KELLEN The creatures stalked towards me and I cast my eyes to the sky, sending out a prayer that I hoped would reach the ears of the gods and they would favor me. In the distance, I saw a mass of darkness, a shelf cloud that was rolling in from the north and heading our way. My shallow breaths halted as I registered the ominous doomsday storm approaching. The screech of the creatures brought me tumbling back to the now and, again, for the umpteenth time I raised my sword and planted my feet, readying for the attack. My mind went a mile a minute as I tried to gauge the movements of the monstrosities I faced. The first one leaped in the air, snapping its jaws as his body flung itself in my direction. As the creature came down to pounce, I swung my sword wounding the thing and twisting as it landed beside me on all fours. Its paw reached out swiping my stomach and it felt like a billion hot needles poking into my skin at once. I didn’t look down instead I attacked the creature at full
MATHIAS Things had not been going according to plan. I thought after Riocht things would get easier, or at least Lamia and I would find some normalcy in life. How wrong I was. The life of a King and Queen would always be anything but normal. We had been crowned the King and Queen of shifters and the work began to pile up. That wouldn’t be so bad, but Lamia was heavily pregnant with triplets, who according to the doctor had grown at an exceedingly faster than normal rate and seemed convinced that she was further along than we originally thought. We thought she had conceived when we were at MacTire before the battle, however, if we put the timeline back to the first time we mated it was in January, we were now in June. A few days later we completed the bonding in Avalon, her heat never fully surfacing because our souls bonded. Maybe that’s when she fell pregnant? She was almost at full term if she carrying pups, and another month to two if she was carrying cubs. I had the doctor perf
