Chapter 34 Working on getting my mate back

Jack told me to wait and she'd deal with whoever was at the door. I sat at the top of the stairs holding my son as she opened the door. The man that stood there was one of Griffin's previous pack members. Jack and the gentleman spoke kindly to one another and I remained at the top of the stairs and listened. The man, who introduced himself as Stevens, explained that the alpha had been behaving cruelly and needed stability. He looked devastated.

"What has happened?" Jack asked curiously and Steven explained that the Alpha had grown cold and cruel in my absence. He and his girlfriend have agreed to work with the humans and give them pack members.

"Once a month, names are drawn and the Hunters come and collect the person. A lot have left him for other packs that we know will take us but some don't have that option," he said sadly. I looked over at Jack, felt horrible for what was happening to the others, and rushed down the stairs with my son.

"I need to go back and deal with him," I said
