Syria’s POV

“Come on.”

He held my hand. His grip was firm, almost reassuring, even though everything around us felt wrong.

He looked me in the eyes and spoke softly.

“I know this is cruel. I know this is twisted for you. But if you can’t handle what Valentin is doing to your uncle, we can leave. We don’t have to stay here. You can always come back and check him, down here. For now, you need to take a breather.”

I didn’t answer right away. His words kept ringing in my head.

My uncle’s screams echoed through the cold walls, and each one stabbed through my heart as if I was feeling his pain.

I hated standing there. I hated seeing him suffer while Valentin just… watched.

Her face was empty, like she’d seen this a thousand times before. There were no sadness, no guilt…nothing. That made it worse. I couldn’t stand it anymore.

After a long pause, I gave Kael a short nod. “Right. Let’s go.”

My voice was low, almost cracked when I spoke.

We didn’t say a single word to Valentin when we move
