Syria’s POV

I smiled slowly instead of getting angry.

This was something I had expected all along. Honestly, I wanted this to happen. I had been pushing him, testing him, hoping he'd finally break.

I stood straight after getting knocked down, holding my chin high. My hands were steady, even though my heart was pounding in my chest.

I looked him directly in the eyes. Then I gave him a small smile, soft and apologetic, just enough to mask what I was really thinking. I didn’t want him to suspect how much control I still had.
