Syria’s POV

She looked so calm… almost like she was already dead.

My heart dropped as I stared at her still body. Then I turned my gaze sharply toward Uncle, anger rising in my chest like a fire ready to explode.

“What did you do to her?!” I shouted. “Why does she look like that? Why does she look like she’s dead? Is she even still breathing?!”

But he didn’t answer. He just looked at me coldly, like I was nothing. Then, without warning, he grabbed a fistful of my hair and yanked my head back, forcing me to meet his eyes.

“If you don’t do exactly what I say,” he said in a low, threatening voice, “if you keep being stubborn, you’ll leave me with no choice.”

His eyes darkened.

“I will kill her. I will torture her. For now, she’s alive. Still breathing. But her body is stiff from everything I’ve already done to her.”

I clenched my fists so tightly my nails dug into my skin.
