Syria’s POV

“I’m sorry, Alpha… we tried to stop her, but…she just wouldn’t listen. We chased her all the way here.”

The guards were breathing hard when they caught up. Sweat dripped down their temples, their chests rising and falling fast. One of them wouldn’t even meet Angus’s eyes. They’d been right on my heels earlier, grabbing at my arms, yelling for me to stop, but I slipped past them every time.

“We’re going to pull her away now.”

They tried to touch me.

“Hey!-” I was about to bark at them when Angus raised his hand.

“No need.”

I glanced at Angus. He was sitting there like a damn king, knees apart, a woman draped over his lap like some prize he’d just won. Her legs were crossed, showing just enough skin to make her point, and there were lipstick smudges along his neck like a mark of ownership.

I felt my lip curl.

“You can leave,” Angus said, his voice low and sharp. “I’ll deal with you later. I told you I didn’t want to be bothered, yet you let her through.”

The guards froze.
