Syria’s POV

“Now be a good girl for me, and stay here.”

He let go of me, and I glared at him.

“I’ll come back. Don’t do anything stupid.”

He turned around and closed the door behind him, leaving me standing there, feeling like a fool.

My cousin, this arrangement, and him… it was all too much for me.

He thinks he can control me? He’s wrong!

I bolted toward the door. I picked up a large metallic object, something like a statue, and pounded it against the doorknob.

My body trembled as I stepped out of the office. My hands were shaking, my legs were weak, but I kept moving.

Just as I was about to flee, I heard a voice.

“Hey! Where do you think you’re going?!” one of the guards shouted.

They spotted me.

They lunged for me but I wasn’t about to let them drag me anywhere! I twisted hard to the side, shoving the first one with all the strength I had left in me.
