You're Not Enough

Kade’s POV

My jaw ticked the moment my eyes landed on him, the loser who approached me in the beginning with plans to destroy me and take everything I have.

Sure, he's visited this residence a couple times in the past to discuss the merger details, but now, I guess security had failed to realize that he was now an unwelcome visitor.

Well, they didn't know what I knew about Henry, but it didn't stop my fists from hardening, especially when I saw the way his face contorted in rage when he spotted his wife beside me.

He went straight to perch on her.

“You're here with him already? Why are you here?” He demanded answers as he approached us with incredulous audacity.

I noticed the tension settling heavy on her shoulders.

“You don't have the right to ask me questions anymore.” She stated, her tone firm like she had practiced saying those words a million times. A grin titled my lips.

“So this is who you really are? A pretender and a whore who wouldn't hesitate to destroy her family?”

I was about to open my mouth as I stepped in front, but she made me step back.

“I really don't care about what you think. I already told you I wanted a divorce. If you're going to call me a cheater, your very title,...”

She stepped in front of me.

“I might as well earn that name.”

Soft, warm skin met mine as to my shock, she stepped on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to mine.

I blinked, my nerves immediately going berserk.

“Kiss me back.” She whispered, her voice breathy and full of desperation.

It was all I needed.

My hand meeting her bare waist and pulling her flush against me, I crushed my mouth to hers. Slow at first, I gave her every chance to pull away, but she didn't.

Instead she pressed herself further into me, teasing me with her tongue and moaning low like she couldn't get enough.

My restraint collapsed bit by bit until I was devouring another man's wife with a hunger that stunned me.

“Celeste! What are you doing! Are you crazy?” Henry let out a choked gasp.

When she pulled away, I had to force myself to straighten. Triumph shone through her face like she had never been more proud of her actions. Her shoulders relaxed as she tried to steady her breathing.

Then it sank in.

This woman just used me to rile up her husband.

I must be out of my mind, because I liked it.

I licked my lips unconsciously to the memory of soft lips expertly moving against mine.

Steam was practically leaving Henry's head at this point.

“How dare you, Mr Thorn!”

My head snapped to him, amused by his cute little rage.

“You might be all big and mighty, but confusing my wife? That's cruel! I know she knows better and I'm willing to take her back—”

“Take me back?” Disgust rose in her voice.

He continued addressing me, ignoring her.

“I saw the way you kept stealing glances at her at your own official party, so this was your plan? She's innocent—”

“Enough.” Silence followed through.

I understood manipulation first hand. Even while he lacked composure, he still managed to have that under control. It was sickening.

“You would consider finding your way out of my residence. The merger is dead. You're excused.”

True anger flickered across his face.

“I'm excused? You cocky bastard! You can't intimidate me because you feel you're untouchable!”

I scoffed.

“Feel? I most definitely am untouchable.”

I noticed his trembling hands by his side. Fake confidence, I see. His gaze settled back on his wife, still filled with rage.

“Celeste, what did you tell him? You couldn't shut up your silly mouth? I cheated a little and you rushed to break your sister's relationship? I never knew I got married to a shameless woman—”

That's where I drew the line.

“Ill words directed at your wife will not be tolerated in my presence. If I have to tell you to leave my property again, it will be with security.”

“Mr Thorn!”

“I'm also giving you a month to sign the divorce papers upon her request.” From the corner of my eyes, I could see the cold settling across her features.

His eyes shook when he addressed her again as he completely lost it.

“I will never divorce you, you bloody wench—”

Then he lunged, full force, straight for her.

I moved before I could think, and she was in my arms before he could lay a finger on her.

She gasped, her body going rigid against mine as Henry lost his footing and fell, yelling and raging.

I alerted security quickly. If he had actually laid a finger on her, he wouldn't have made it out of this room with two hands.

“He…he…he was going to hit…me?” Her lips trembled, as she completely zoned out, her eyes wet in disbelief.

I knew right then, that no matter how invincible Celeste felt, I still needed to get her out of that house.

As security dragged him away, his mouth kept spitting filth.

“Yet you wonder why I cheated? You're not enough for anyone!”

“Kade is only using you!”

“I know that kiss disgusted him — because you're so boring in bed!”

How low could a husband go?

He was soon gone, his voice dissipating into the distance. I could feel the erratic thud of her heart as her quiet sobs soaked into my shirt.

Now he'd made her cry. I couldn't touch her since she probably won't let me, so I just let her take her time until the worst of it passed.

She pulled away eventually, wearing an awkward smile, refusing to meet my gaze, quickly wiping the tears off her face.

“I'm sorry about that, I lost myself for a second there and…”

“I get it.”

She walked away and sank into one of the cushions, making herself comfortable, but I knew her legs were anything but steady.

I joined her.

“Ready to move out?”

She shook her head. She was still riding in the aftermath of the shock.

“He won't try to hit me again. Don't worry about it.”

Fury coiled tight in my chest.

She was leaving that house, whether she liked it or not.
