Chapter 7 Troubled Mind

Rowan’s Pov,

My chest was tightening, escalating its beating uncomfortably, making me worried about the unknown, as something is so close to me. The dim, bright sun was shadowed by the dark clouds. Over hundred werewolves were sitting in front of me holding excited and joyed faces, to witness my marriage with Sharon, the niece of my aunt and I was standing to wait for her to complete the ceremony in an open ground in front of holy chalice.

Everything was weird for me. I wasn’t excited nor sad, but some kind of uneasiness of poking in my heart as something wasn’t right. The flow of blood was rushing in my veins as I had taken the longest run of my life. It was the first time I was experiencing something which I wasn’t capable of understanding and I knew it wasn’t regarding this marriage thing.

My uncle Silas was standing behind me, to support me in this decision. He looked happy as he was retiring soon from his position as an alpha of this pack. Aunt’s smile wasn’t fading at all, she looked like she was finishing the all quota of her smile on a single day. Blissfulness was dripping from her eyes.

I looked up to mountains covered with evergreen trees which were creating a pull inside me, as I should be there right now. The wind was intoxicated as something was hiding in those mountains which was provoking me and my wolf. I was getting restless with time. It was like I owe them so much. My wolf was getting so anxious with every passing second.

I turned to see Waylen to send him in the forest for investigation as it was getting unsettling for me, but he wasn’t around, nor could I feel him. He may have left because he didn’t like that I am getting married out of nowhere. His wolf was growling at me yesterday, showing his unwillingness in it. He was not only one who was weird but Orson too. He was overexcited and smiling at the mountains, looking up crazily.

It was a big day for the whole pack. They were happy that I was getting married but also confused, as she wasn’t my mate. I need a Luna for my pack so I could manage this pack more efficiently with no objections.

“Rowan, your bride is here.” A pull over my shoulder got me out of my trance. It was uncle who was directing his eyes, making me look ahead. Sharon was standing beside me, keeping her head low, and already walked down the aisle. Her face was pale as a bit as I didn’t notice her at all. I turned around to face her and the priest, who was standing behind me.

Priest walked, approaching both of us and everyone stood up from their seat to respect the holy chalice in his hand. It is a large earthen vessel filled with the water of the moon lake. It is assumed that the moon goddess had blessed that lake as the water tasted salty while other lakes didn’t and from then it became holy for everyone.

‘Rowan, leave now. You need to be somewhere.’ My wolf warned me again, but I ignored him. He was trying to get in control to avoid this marriage, but I wasn’t letting him and he was getting frustrated. A suppressed growl broke from my heart, making everyone shiver from the stage. Priest startled by spilling a drop of water on the ground. Sharon took a step back in her traditional dress.

My wolf was never this agitated before. I could feel what he said, but the way I was feeling was weird for me. I couldn’t understand what it meant. The feeling of getting drawn to the air, experiencing the pull of the earth, was new to me. Taking a deep breath, I tried to distract myself, forcing me to pay attention to the priest who was chanting holy words, looking at them .

“Alpha Rowan, you can proceed.” He started forwarding towards me. While a maid came with a knife in her hand. I took the knife and cut my hand, letting a few drops of my blood fall into the water, changing its color into bright red. I handed over the same knife to Sharon, who wasn’t daring to lift her head, but she looked quite excited about our marriage. Why not? She is going to be the luna of the pack with a lot of powers. Bitch, she couldn’t even try to speak nor asked me the reason for this sudden marriage.

Cutting her palm with a knife, she dropped her blood into the same vessel. Her face darkened as water didn’t turn clear again as expected, but she too knew the reason for it. She didn’t react nor the priest, but he clenched his jaw, knowing that she wasn’t my mate. When mate’s blood is added into that chalice, water turns into the same as it was before adding the blood into it, but as we aren’t mates, its color did not change.

Withdrawn, he pushed the vessel into my hand to let me drink it to complete another ritual, but my chest was tightening severely, making my breathing ragged. I could feel the flow of the running warm blood in my veins. ‘Waylen, my wolf spat in a worried tone as his discrete smell rushed in my nostrils, making me jerk in the direction.

No one was there, but everyone noticed my uneasiness. Their faces were farrowed, but no one dared to stop the wedding and asked why I was feeling this way. Waylen wasn’t anywhere, but his smell lingered on the ground.

With a thundering sound, Waylen’s gray wolf jumped out from the bushes around the ground. He was heaving from the long run. He ran hurriedly, stopping in front of the stage.

“Alpha, we have an emergency.” His mind linked with me, looking back at the way. His furs were standing straight. It must have been curial. I turned to him, stepping down the stairs.

“What?” I asked, unbuttoning my shirt.

“Werewolf Palace is soon going under attack. Those rogue vampires have attacked two ways, diverting King’s attention.” He completed getting ready for chase, dipping his paws on the ground.

“We have to be there for King’s help. Take a two battalions of warriors for help.” I ordered while mind-linking. My wolf was already on the edge, waiting for a long time to break free, and now he just found a new excuse. He didn’t need another moment, and he transformed, turning my wedding suit into shreds on the ground.

I ran ahead out, jumping over the crowd without wasting any moment. King must be in danger. Green forest was waiting for me, leading a path to my destination as it was leading me to my fate. I heard a howl of Waylen from behind, informing my orders to them.

The palace of werewolf king Vincent Levan was on the North end of the pack. My heart was heavy, but I was sure it wasn’t because King Vincent was in danger. There must be something I wasn’t aware of. Drawing Sun was witnessing my turmoil. His last rays turned sky orange, increasing my heart beats as my life was at stake.

Even if he killed Tremor, his main motives must be directed toward gaining more energy.”“She is the purest source of energy present in this entire universe. After throwing it aside and walking to the bar section of my new office, the moment she asked me to join the shrine with my aunt, my heart wasn’t at ease. I wasn’t intending to trap her here, but my heart would be at least calmer. Her absence made everything difficult for me. I consoled my heart. She returns in hours while gulping down a few bottles of whiskey.I held the glass on the table tighter as it vibrated mildly and the lights in the office accompanied them while flickering with great intensity. The stuttering sound of furniture amplified, making me hold the edge of the table. Before I could think anything further, a blinding blue light swallowed the office. I held my hand in front of my eyes, struggling to see in front me.
