CHAPTER 96

Grayson took his gaze away from the window and turned around when he heard the door to the library opened in his brother’s estate on a Wednesday morning. He saw Benedict, Charlotte and their mother entered together with Albert Rutherford, their father’s good friend and lawyer along with two of his staff.

It has been more than a month since the Grand Duke had died and Grayson was grateful inside to Thomas for silently convincing him to fly back to his father. He arrived just in time to spend the last hours before his father took his last breath.

“I am so proud of you, my son,” Maxwell St. Claire said slowly, his voice rasped. He raised his hand and Grayson immediately took it, placing it on his cheek and clutching it tight. “You don’t know how much I am.”

Grayson squeezed his father’s arm with his other hand.

“I know you are, Dad,” he replied, tears welling up around his eyes. “Thank you for believing in me always. I love you.”
