My fists tightening around the stone slab as I watched her from the tower. She was going to him.

The name was a bitter on my tongue. I told myself it was because of what he did to her. But deep down, my feelings were also selfish. I hated that she still had room in her heart for him, even though she wouldn't admit it.

And I hated more that it made me feel. Like I'd never be more than just the loyal sword at her side. Would she ever see me differently?

I turned away from the view.

There were other things that needed my attention. Like the cloaked figure she'd followed past the border before the celestial projection hit. A figure no one else had seen.

I moved through the Citadel, every stride purposeful, until I found the captain of the watch. He stood to attention immediately, his left hand rising to his head in a salute.
