Derek’s POV

Seeing Trenton with his hands all over Viola should have made me even more crazed but something kept me from coming unglued on the guy. There was some weird connection between Trenton and I. Clearly having multiple mates is going to be an issue when I wanted Viola to myself, but I couldn’t deny there was an odd urge to be ok with Trenton, like he was part of my pack and I had only just met the guy.

I think he felt the same way because other than him choking me momentarily he hadn’t tried laying another hand on me. He even made it a point to show he would be speaking to me about further plans for helping Viola. I needed more information on this mate thing. As far as I knew when someone finds their mate they don’t want to be around anyone else, and they definitely don’t want anyone around their mate like that.

But even the small possessive act I had of pulling her to me almost felt weird. Like she needed to be shared with Trenton.

Literally fated to be with two. What the hell?

Viola and I got to the clothes line the pack had up for those turning and got dressed.

“Derek I’m sorry.” She blurted after getting a shirt on.

I gave her a smile. “For what?”

“Trenton and his hands all over me like that.” She furrowed her brows, I could see how confused she was.

I put my hands on her hips after my jeans were buttoned. “It’s fine Viola, you have two mates, I don’t think you are supposed to choose between the two of us.” I sighed. “Do I like it? Not so much. But can I tolerate it? Surprisingly yeah, I can.” I put a finger over her lips before she could speak. “It felt almost natural to have to share you Viola, I can’t explain it, and Goddess knows I would rather not, but he is part of this. And the more protection for you, the better.”

She bit her lip and damn if I didn’t want to take her right then. “I feel so confused Derek.” She pouted poking her lip out in the most sexy way. I kissed her and brought her flush against me as I did. Her arms wrapped around my neck as I lifted her up wrapping her legs around me.

When she moaned softly my arousal only grew. I broke the kiss much to Duban’s frustration and my own, then set her back on the ground.

“It’s ok baby, we’ll figure this out. Besides, I think you’re just barely coming into whatever you can do, you shouldn’t worry about this. You’ll be stronger than us all Viola.” I kissed her cheek and grabbed her hand taking her back inside the gates to find Alpha Drake waiting just inside for us.

“Alpha.” I said surprised.

“We need to talk.” He looked at us both. “All of us.” He walked away swiftly without looking back knowing we would follow him. Upon entering the pack house Dalia was leaving the kitchen. She looked at us and quickly went upstairs.

“Dad?” Viola put her hand on his arm. “What’s wrong?”

“I believe that whoever was involved with what happened to you is in the pack. I’m not sure how safe you are, and I can’t figure out who it was either. I have suspicions of some pack members.”

I kept quiet knowing he wasn’t ready to hear of Dalia, he probably wouldn’t even believe us. We needed proof before we confronted him about her.

Viola sucked in a breath like she might say something and I put my hand on her wrist.

“Alpha Drake, if it helps I would be willing to do some digging as well.”

He nodded at me with a brief smile. “There’s something else.” His smile fell. “I’m sure you noticed the lack of Dalia’s presence for this. She wanted me to be the one to tell you.” He took a deep breath while I held mine. “The reason you cannot scent her as family like you can me is because she is not your birth mother.”

If Viola gave any indication that she knew she didn’t show it to her father. He kept going.

“Your mother, your birth mother, left while you were very young. I heard years later that she had been killed after rejecting Shadow Pack and me as her mate.” He let out a sigh. “I was a mess when Dalia came around after your third birthday, she helped me get through the loss. Please understand Viola, a pack rejection is hard, a mate rejection…” he physically shuddered as he recalled the loss. “We kept it from you because you were so young at the time, and then when your wolf never surfaced and you couldn’t smell her scent we just let it be.” His eyes pleaded for her understanding.

Viola sighed deeply. “I forgive you.” Alpha Drake wrapped her in a hug as if he was holding on for dear life. I hadn’t ever seen the Alpha so nervous before. This side of him was only ever seen around Viola, not that he was a difficult man, he was just intense and typically ensured that things went his way.

He let go and led us to sit down in the living area. “There are a few other things we need to discuss. Please sit.” The alpha leaned back into his chair and draped his arm over the side of it. “First, you’ll notice your wolf is much bigger. Your mother, your birth mother, she was a hybrid. I don’t exactly know what she was, and looking into her past is dangerous Viola. She had her reasons for leaving. After I have grown the pack and learn about some other details we will of course look into this more.”

“We can’t even find out what I am right now?” Viola was tense as she gripped the cushion on the couch she had sat down on.

“Viola it’s dangerous. Particularly since we know you were bound and poisoned at some point, the circumstances of which are still unclear.”

Viola nodded her head for him to continue.

“What I can tell you is that despite not knowing your separate breed, I do know that you are a hunter. Hunter’s are typically much bigger and their senses are much more inclined to, well, hunt. Particularly since you are an alpha’s daughter, this would in fact affect you a lot more.”

Voldin’s POVIt surprised me that Viola took so long to try and escape, it made me believe that she was not in complete control of her powers yet. It also made me certain that she wasn’t entirely sure what she could do yet. With eyes like the Night Goddess, I knew there had to be a connection, I swear when I looked into her eyes it was as the the Moon Goddess herself was staring back at me. Her ability to blow up the door to her room was unsurprising, considering the intel from the attack of Clover Pack, someone dear to her must have been injured or dead for her to burst her power in such a way.I was all to familiar with an angry goddess and what they could be capable of. The only way to control this girl would be to blackmail her with something, someone she loved. Her mate perhaps. The Moon Goddess had two of them, and if Viola is anything like her as I believed, then she would more than likely have a Dyad mate bond as well.Yes, the time I had holding her hostage had given me much

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 64

Viola’s POVMy heart was pounding sporadically as I left the place Voldin was holding me. If I would have been in the frame of mind to stop and think, I would have wondered how I escaped so easily, I would have wondered if not leaving would have changed the outcome of what happened next, but you can’t go back in time, and I can’t regret the things I would do out of love.I didn’t know where I was taken, but it didn’t stop the mate bond from driving me to my mates. And when I was within the pack gates, it brought me to the pack hospital. I didn’t change back to my human form, when I entered the room they were in I almost collapsed at the sight.Derek was laying on one of the hospital beds, the scent of blood was heavy in the air, and he was unconscious. I had to watch his chest for several moments before I saw the rise and fall, indicating he was still alive. I whined as I drew closer to the bed. Trenton’s head snapped up as I drew closer. His look was murderous until he realized it w

Avery’s POVA huge commotion broke out as the pack members began fighting each other, even Drake’s mind link wouldn’t stop them. Multiple pack members started shouting, asking for an explanation and some were just fighting to fight it seemed.“I denounce Shadow Pack and reject Alpha Drake as my alpha!” This was yelled by several pack members and you could visibly see their threads of loyalty breaking from Drake.‘Silence!’ I sent my mind link out and they were forcibly stopped, they could not fight a command from an angel hybrid. Those who had denounced the pack even stopped.“Your heiress has been taken as a hostage, I’ve been demanded to step down to save her, make no mistake, I will be back here, as your alpha, the moment we have brought her back. Cease this fighting, immediately. Those who have denounced the pack, leave, now. If you are still loyal to me, to your true luna, Avery, and to Shadow Pack, then I invite you to stay.”Those who had denounced the pack left through the gat

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 62

Viola’s POVBefore I opened my eyes I could smell him. The scent had an odd familiarity to it, and yet it was not someone I knew. When I opened my eyes a man with silvery hair and gray eyes was looking back at me. He was tall and thin, but the structure of his face made me think of Stella.I didn’t miss the way his eyes widened in surprise when I opened mine, though I didn’t know why.“Hello sleeping beauty.” His voice was like ice, like a frost you feel in your body when you become too cold.“You must be Voldin.” I slowly pushed myself up from the cot I was laying on. I furrowed my brows. It seemed that the rebels in Shadow Pack were unable to identify who they were truly working for, as they were discussing helping Clover Pack get in. And yet here I was, with Voldin.Ice slid through my veins, I was certainly in trouble now.“Why do you have the eyes of the Night Goddess?” His tone was accusatory.“Well I certainly didn’t choose my eye color when I was born.” The sarcasm leaked from

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 61

Viola’s POV“If you’re going to sulk, I can think of other ways for you to enjoy your time.” I spoke in a sultry voice, attempting to make Trenton feel better. He had basically been pouting since we left the lounge. He merely looked at me and then looked away. He sat on the edge of the bed and seemed uninterested in pretty much everything.“Don’t be angry with me love.” I spoke softly as I walked over to him and lightly ran my fingertips over his chest. “Everything is going to be fine. You’ll see.”He gripped my hand and pulled me towards him, making me fall on his lap. Then he put his hands on either side of my face and kissed me desperately. His feelings poured into me, fear, frustration, helplessness. I didn’t know how to make it better, so I kissed him harder, pouring my love and determination into him.I pushed on him so he was laying down on the bed and straddled him. If he wasn’t going to be able to let go, I would need to make him. I broke the kiss and looked at his handsome f

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 60

Viola’s POVThe growing absence of loyalty in the pack was making me nervous. I couldn’t fathom an open rebellion against my father. My edginess really showed lately, so I chose to mostly avoid people as much as I was able to.I spent a lot of time going through the journal that Cade had given me. From what I understood, it belonged to someone who was hunting Voldin and other fallen angels. The orbs were used to capture souls, as Cade had said, and as I had witnessed. The one I had captured evil souls of those who could not be killed with an ordinary weapon. They were also capable of causing great harm to a soul, while they could not do any physical damage, they could literally wound, and even break the soul if it was not very powerful. It seemed that this orb is exactly what I would need to deal with Voldin. I kept it hidden for now, it could be utilized by an angel, demon, or god. But to actually wound a soul, you needed to be a god. It was really interesting, the way it worked. Wha
