Two

I didn't leave the scene immediately, I wanted to see how it all played out and maybe because I loved thrilling drama mixed with murder too.

It didn't take long for patrol wolves to rush into the club and searched for him. Wolves had a unique connection that allowed them to speak to each other telepathically. It's mostly between family members, so when a family member dies, they feel the connection cut and come running to find them. For patrol wolves to show up, it could only mean one thing.

The wolf I just killed was connected to the royal family.

I had obviously investigated him before to know that, but I didn't care because even if he was a deity, he would still die by my hands. Soon, the patrol wolves came out with a botched head and burnt body on a stretcher. The burnt skin was one of the effects of the silver and the head was probably due to his head slamming hard on the toilet. The partying was immediately put to an end and people filed out one by one with a traumatized look on their faces. I was among the crowd leaving too, I was making my way out when a man and really handsome guy stepped out on a Lamborghini in a rush. I recognized them immediately, heck! Who doesn't?

The man was the sovereign ruler of all wolves and beside him was his second son, the prince.

And oh, the guy I just killed was kinda, sorta, in a way, the first son and heir to throne.

Oops, my bad.

I remember telling you I didn't care, I would kill him again without regrets.

Tate, the next sovereign ruler of wolves was a chronic drunkard and womanizer. He was no way cut out to rule because of his irresponsible and reckless behaviour, I could already tell his father was stressed out because of him. So in a way, I helped them get rid of him. What can I say? I'm that nice.

The man, Levi was grey and old already and there were news of the next ruler crowning ceremony coming soon. I'm guessing the second son, Marcus would take his place now after today.

Levi rushed past me, along with his son Marcus who I had to admit again was super handsome.

He had red hair and striking blue eyes that made my breath hitch. His round face and pointed nose made him look cute and then his lips felt like it was calling to me.

Although I had a boyfriend, I couldn't help but be drawn to Marcus.

As he passed my side, our hands brushed each other and I felt a tingle in my heart. I was shocked by the feeling because I had never felt this way before. I was about to retract my hand when he suddenly held it in his. I raised my head in confusion to look at him, only to meet his glowing blue eyes.

“Mate” The word fell out of his lips, shocking me to the bones.

No, that can't be right. I can't have a mate, I'm human. Only supernaturals have mates which I was certainly not one.

“Let go” My voice came out like a whisper and my heart somehow twisted painfully at my words.

I need to get out of here.

He opened his mouth and was about to say something when his father called out to him.

“Marcus!”

He turned to look at his father, his eyes returning to normal from the distraction. I could tell he was in a dilemma, to hold my hand and unto me or to answer to his father. I hoped he picked the former, anyway it was really not my business so I used the opportunity to pull my hand away from his and I took off running. As fast as my legs could carry me, I just wanted to far away from him.

As fast I could, like a monster was after me. Which was not a total lie because I saw wolves and vampires as monsters for killing my parents.

“Hey” he called after me. I didn't look back to know if he was pursuing me, I just wanted to run and hide in a dark corner in my room or wake up to hear this was all a dream at the end of the day.

“Marcus!” I heard his father call again and I silently prayed that he went to his father instead.

Mates were destined soulmates that supernatural had from their moon goddess. It was a gift that showed them who were going to be their partner for a lifetime. Mates are bonded by the mate bond who intensifies their feelings for each other and make sure they crossed paths no matter what. Mates could off course be rejected but no one has ever done that as far as I knew. I found it stupid for their life source to be connected with each other, which makes one mate turn rogue and die immediately after the death of their partner. Even a rejection of the mateship from one end was enough to make the other run mad from pain and hurt. I saw it foolish for one's life to dependant on another.

There have also not been any reports of cross mating with other species, it has always been mates within a particular specie. Wolves with wolves and vampires with vampires. It was one of the reason I didn't believe the crap that guy said. It was not even possible, he was probably overshaken with grief so he couldn't think straight. Yeah, that's definitely it.

Besides I had a boyfriend, Frank. He was a hunter too and we had plans to get married. He was most importantly a human and I loved him dearly. He was there for my when my parent's died and he comforted me when no one else was there. I couldn't abandon him for some cute wolf boy who was a prince and probably the next supreme ruler of all wolves. Plus I just murdered his brother, we could never work, he would hate me if he finds out and might even hunt me down to kill me too.

I chanted that line in my head and I kept running into the night like I was trying to reassure myself again and again. I was about to bend into a corner when I suddenly bumped into a brick wall.

No it wasn't a brick wall, it was abs on someone's broad chest. I was out of breath from all that running that my pounding heart seemed too loud to hear my own thoughts.

“Hey, watch where you're going” The owner of the chest said as he held my arms to steady me and stop me from falling. Immediately our skin met, I felt another familiar tingle in my heart.

Was this Marcus? But I don't remember him being this muscular. I raised my head to confirm my fears and was met with glowing red eyes. I couldn't see his face properly since it was dark, the only source of light being the full moon. I could make out his sharp jawline and short black hair and maybe a little stubble. He looked like he just fell out of a hot men magazine.

“Mate” He said, his voice was deep, the type you would want to wake up to every morning and have him moan out your name.

Focus Edna…

I jumped away from him in fear, everything was going haywire too. Why was everybody calling me their mates? It was that wolf boy and now this man who looked oddly familiar but my head was too blank to recognize him.

“You are human” He said, his voice with a tinge of shock and confusion and… disgust?

Yeah right, he probably couldn't believe a weak human could be his mates. Well, me too. This must definitely be a prank or a coy to attack me. I was no one's mate…

I start to back away slowly but he didn't look like he was going to attempt to stop me. I pushed aside the little hurt I felt for some weird reason and took off running.

I didn't go too far when my knees wobbled and I felt weak. My head was still spinning from everything that had happened so far and perhaps it was spinning too fast.

I was seeing doubles; everything in twos and as I fell to the ground, I began to hear footsteps running towards me. Sleep pulled at me heavy and my eyes droped heavily, it felt like there was bricks on top of my eye leads, pushing it down. I finally stop fighting it and let it engulf me completely.

Perhaps, I could wake up and find out that it was all just a nightmare.
