For as long as I can remember, humans, wolves and vampires lived together. It wasn't that simple as there's always a struggle for power among them. Everyone wanted to be superior but despite that, humans still fell on the bottom rank.
The vampires and wolves were at the top of everything controlling us and treating us like subjects.
It was quite demeaning and infuriating but that's all it was because humans didn't have their super speed, or strength or hearing abilities. We were just humans… simple. We were weak and useless, like they like to say.
At some point the humans weren't happy with the way they were ordered around so they started a revolution and everywhere was a mess. The vampires and wolves agreed to give humans equal power and everything looked like it was going fine but I know the truth, nothing was fine. Beneath the interaction between the three species there was still underground rivals taking place. There was still attacks, killings, misconduct against other species, but everyone behaved like it was nothing on the surface. It was survival of the fittest now. Only the smartest lived to see another day, you could be attacked from anywhere just because you were from a particular specie.
While the vampires and wolves had their supernatural abilities to rely on, humans had the hunters. They were families who take up the responsibility of protecting humans and fighting against the supernaturals. They were like specially trained assassins and even supernaturals with all their abilities find it out to shake them off.
That's who my family were, the Holmes. My father was a hunter, his father was a hunter then my great grand mother was a hunter and it went on like that, as far back as centuries. It was a mantle that has always been passed from generations to generations and it was my turn now.
My name is Edna Holmes, the latest hunter from the Holmes family. I hunt wolves and vampires for a living. My reason? Mine was a little different from the others who fought to protect.
I fight for revenge.
Those bastards murdered my parents in cold blood, right in front of my eyes and I was going to take my revenge by killing the people responsible. Every single one of them and anyone who tries to stop me. They made a very wrong decision to spare my life, they probably thought I won't be a threat. Well, they should think again because I wasn't going to give up till I have killed everyone involved in my parent's death.
It's been a year since I lost my parents and in that one year I have been perfecting my skills and investigating their deaths. I mean like they said, ‘If you can't beat them, join them’. Since they liked to play dirty, I could play dirty too.
Which is why I was here, in this super loud club where humans and supernaturals alike were grinding and rubbing against each other. The smell of hormones, sweat, sex and alcohol reeked in the air plus the loud speaker that threatened to burst my eardrum.
I downed the shot of tequila in one go as I sat on the bar and wanted my next victim. It was a wolf, one of the men I saw that day when my parents were killed. He was sitting on one of the VIP cubicles, having the time of his life with different shapes on half naked ladies dancing in front of him and rubbing against him. If not that it would create a huge commotion, I would have killed him right there where he sat.
He was stupid drunk but he kept drinking, he soon staggered to his feet and whispered something to the ears of one of the ladies who was dancing for him. She giggled and parted for his to pass. My guess that he was going to use the bathroom. That was my time to strike.I got up and tucked my hand in the leather jacket I worked and strolled casually after him. After passing people dancing, doing drugs, making out and even having sex on the way to restroom, He staggered into the restroom and push the door to slam the door. I placed my leg on the way stopping the door from locking then I stepped in with a blank look on my face.
He was busy doing his business by the toilet when I entered, lucky for me, there was no other person in the room apart from the both of us. I locked the door after me and strolled into the room, he turned and eyed me like a pervert.
“Well hello, hot chick” he whistled as he eye raped me with lust in his eyes.
I do not reply, instead I stood in front of the large mirror, looking at his reflection as I removed the school bag on my back and placed it on the island.
“Hey I'm talking to you bitch” He said a little more roughly as he tried to zip up his jeans but failing to because of his drunk state. He staggered towards me with anger in his eyes, I bet he thought I was some cheap girl who would kneel to service his privates at his beck and call.
I chuckled as I continued watching him from the mirror, with no fear in my eyes. Infact he should be the scared one because his days on earth were numbered from the moment he saw me.
“You know, it's funny how no one knows how they are going to die and leave this world. They could just be in the restroom and death would come knocking… ” I said as I opened my bag and brought out a rope, a dagger and a syringe.
Oh, I forget to mention, I love to get creative with my kills. I had always wanted to be an artist and create a piece that would shake the world, but I abandoned that dream when my parents were murdered. Now I show my creativity and love for art with every supernatural I kill.
If he was sober, perhaps he would have gotten warning signs and know that he was in danger but he was too clouded with alcohol, lust and anger. Unlucky him.
“I said I'm talking to you, how dare you… ” He was saying as he raised his hand to place it on my shoulder and turn me. I grabbed the dagger along as I turned and pierced it into chest, impaling his heart.
He screamed and fell to the ground writhing in pain. My dagger wasn't just a normal object, it was laced with silver which was supernatural’s worst nightmare. It was the one thing that they feared but humans was immune to. A pinch of silver could weaken considerably and a more concentrated dose can even kill them. With a silver stake to the heart, this guy was going to die a slow and painful death.
“You bitch. I'm going to kill you” He seethed as he continued groaning in pain on the restroom floor.
“You already called me that before, silly, and I think you are the only one dying right now” I said as grabbed my rope and begin to tie his legs and hands together. I wasn't afraid that he would attack me with his wolf, the silver prevented them from contacting anyone and blocks the connection a wolf from his human part.
He continued throwing profanities at me while I continued to tie him up tightly. I was careful not to get any blood on me so he could not be tracked to me. After tying him up, I dragged him to one of the toilet stalls and pulled the rope across the stalls with all my strength till he was elevated and dangled about the toilet. Then tied the other end at the door knob so that when the door is opened, his head will go straight into the toilet bowl.
I quickly retrieved my bag and syringe from the island and walked up to him.
“Please, let me go… please… what did I ever do to you girl, you've got the wrong person” He pleaded with fear in his eyes. I loved it when they are scared.I pulled the dagger out of him slowly, inciting another round of screams from him, Blood tickled out of the wound into the toilet and floor, the music was way too loud for anyone to hear his cries for help. He was at my mercy, just like my parents were.
“Hmm, I wonder what a syringe full of silver could do if I inject it into a wolf… let's see” I said excitedly as I stabbed the needle into his neck. His pleas and screams were like music to my ears.
As I finish injecting the silver, he started to shake and his breath was becoming laboured. I smiled as I watch his eyes roll backwards repeatedly.
“This is for my parents”
Marcus bared his fangs, his hackles raised. "We won't let you bring chaos and destruction to this world, Amelia. We were friends once, but now we must stand against you."The battle commenced with a ferocity unmatched. With their backs against the wall, the trio retreated to the safety of their sanctuary, the abandoned cabin. The ritual involved harnessing the elements of light, purity, and courage to create a protective barrier against the Shadow Lord's influence. The night was draped in a somber stillness as the moon cast its pale glow upon the ancient castle. Inside, in the grand hall adorned with elaborate tapestries and flickering candlelight, Derek went on.His eyes, once fiery with the thirst for blood, now shimmered with a profound sadness. Tonight, he would address his loyal coven, for he had made a decision that would alter their lives forever. He cleared his throat and went on:"My beloved coven, tonight marks a turning point in our shared journey," he began, his voice both solemn and tender. "For too long, we have roamed the shadows, prisoners of our own existence. But I have come to realize that true life lies beyond the confines of the night”.Whispers spread through the gathering, but Derek continued, his gaze never faltering. "We are creatures of immense power, capable of both incredible feats and profound love. “But in our pursuit of immortality, we have denied ourselves the very essence of what it means to be alive."His wor
