Claire's POV

"Congratulations, Claire, I knew you would make the team," Christy said

We had just walked to the gym to find out if I had made the cheerleading team, and I was happy to see that I did. I hadn't been part of a team since my parent's death because I had to keep a job to provide for Jennifer and me. Tonya and Sean wouldn't let me get one saying that I needed to focus on school. It felt good having them care about me and Jennifer's well-being, but at the same time, it felt weird. Nobody had cared about Jennifer or me since my parents.

The twins and Gwen were not in school because they all had a meeting with their parents. They said that they would come to pick Jennifer, Stacy, and me up after school, but I told them we could ride home with Christy. I could tell they wanted to come, but when I told them I wanted to ride home with her, they agreed.

Thanks, I am so happy I made it," I said, and we began walking toward our next class, which was choir.
