Chapter 6

Claire's POV

"You know if you keep smiling like that, Mr. Tucker is going to think you are high or something," I heard the boy say beside me.

"What," I asked, confused.

"You have been smiling all through class and the last, and unless you really love Spanish, you must be smiling for another reason," He said

"I am just in a good mood," I said

I have been happy since Gwen told me she is not with the guy I saw last night. She also told me that Stephen broke up with that Monica bitch, which made me happier. I haven't been able to stop thinking about Gwen and the Twins and don't understand why I am feeling this way about three people I don't even know.

"My name is Justin," The guy next to me said

"Claire," I replied

"I know, everyone knows. We don't normally get new students around here,"

"I can tell," I replied

The Spanish teacher gave us a study sheet to do for the rest of the class because we had a quiz on Friday. I couldn't concentrate on the sheet because I couldn't stop thinking of the twins and Gwen. I decided to do it when I got back to the house.

"So, are you liking it here so far?" Justin asked

"It's better than where I came from," I said

"Yeah, it must be tough not having your parents,"

"How do you know about my parents?" I asked confused

"Everyone around here knows about them. Your father is from here, and everyone knows him. When your father passed away, it was a big deal, and everyone was worried about you and your sister when the al... I mean Mr. Knight couldn't' find the two of you," he said

"That's crazy because he never talked about where he was from," I said

I always thought my father didn't like where he came from. Maybe he was mistreated, but it seems everyone here cared for him. It made me wonder why he left in the first place. After class, I walked with Justin to the cafeteria. He asked if I wanted to sit with his friends, and I agreed.

Gwen had asked me to sit with her and the twins, but I didn't think that was a good idea. I was already having all these weird thoughts in my head about them. I felt like I was going crazy, and the best thing to do was to stay far away from them as possible.

"Hey Justin, I see you brought us a new victim," A boy with brown hair and brown eyes said and stood from his seat. He had a masculine build and was very tall. All the guys around here were tall and had muscles. They were all very attractive but not as attractive and built as the twins. I had never seen anyone look as good as them.

I'm sure most can't tell the two of them apart, but I could immediately. While both of them were about the same height and had the same short brown hair and hazel eyes, Stephen was about an inch taller than Steven. Their smell was also different; for some reason, they both smelled better than anyone besides Gwen, who smelled like a mixture of flowers; Stephen smelled Earthy like after a rainy day, while Steven smelled like cinnamon and ginger.

"Don't try to scare her, Jake. Hello, I am Christy," A girl with Blond hair and brown eyes said. She was taller than me, around 5 ft 7, and looked athletic.

"Claire," I said

"We already know. You and your sister have become the talk of the school. The long-lost daughters of the great Beta Michael," Jake said, confusing me.

"Beta," I asked, confused.

"Don't mind Jake; he thinks he is a comedian," Christy said, giving Jake a stern look.

"I guess," I replied

"Come, beautiful green eyes, sit by me," Jake said, and I sat in the chair next to him and Christy.

I could feel someone staring at me, and I looked up to see Gwen, Stephen, and Steven looking my way. Gwen looked at me with pain in her eyes while Stephen and Steven glared at Jake. Monica came over to the table and sat next to Stephen, causing me to feel a pain in my chest, but I ignored it and looked away from them.

I ate our food and mainly talked to Christy. Jake would start flirting with me, but I shrugged it off. I could tell he was like that with everyone, and I was not interested in him in any romantic way.

"Oh, Stephen, you want to get out of here?" I heard Monica say all too loud

"Yes, let's go," Stephen said, and he and Monica stood up, holding hands

"Think about what you are doing, brother," I heard Steven say

"I did," Stephen said, and he walked out of the cafeteria with Monica causing the pain to deepen.

I ignored the feeling, knowing I had no reason to react that way. Stephen wasn't my boyfriend and could do whatever he wanted. I looked at Stephen, and Gwen looked at me with a concerned expression. I quickly turned my face away from them but could still feel their gaze on me.

I was definitely staying away from all of them.
