Lucien’s POV

I’ve grown used to Teya’s quiet moods, she’s stubborn, guarded, but this… this is different.

This is her slipping through my fingers one inch at a time.

She doesn’t stop by after class anymore, doesn’t meet my gaze in the halls. And every time I try to approach her, she finds an excuse to leave.

I tell myself to give her space, that maybe we just need time to cool off after our fight. But the gnawing in my chest won’t let me. Something’s wrong.

And every time I think about who could be behind it, I land on the same name.

Ryker.

I’ve seen the way he watches her, the way his mouth curls into that knowing smirk whenever our paths cross. He’s playing some twisted game, and the thought of him anywhere near her makes my blood boil.

When I finally catch her alone between classes, I try to keep my voice steady.

“Teya,” I start, stepping in her way before she can brush past me. “Has Ryker been bothering you again?”

She stiffens, her eyes darting away too quickly. “No,” she says,

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 113

Lucien’s POVThe walls of my room felt like they were gradually closing in on me, almost like they had a life of their own. Each second felt like it was dragging on forever, a relentless slice across my nerves, sharp and precise, breaking me apart in ways I couldn’t even begin to understand. It was that kind of feeling where you were just one breath away from losing it completely, and I was left in a whirlwind of confusion, trying to figure out how the heck to pick up the pieces of myself that seemed to be scattered everywhere. So, like a caged animal, I started to pace. Back and forth, back and forth—I couldn’t seem to find a moment of stillness. My hands were a mess, clenching and unclenching at my sides, almost as if my body was trying to fight off that primal instinct that was my wolf.He was there, just underneath the surface, prowling and restless, a storm of emotions swirling inside of him—anger, longing, and something that felt dangerously close to full-blown panic. He didn’t

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 112

Ryker’s POVHonestly, the storm raging inside me was relentless, like an untamed beast that just wouldn't be tamed. No matter how many times I reminded myself of the rules I’d laid down the moment I first crossed paths with her, that chaos didn’t lessen.Stay away. Don’t get attached. Don’t let her become a weakness. But there I was again, rooted to the spot at the edge of the training field, my gaze inexplicably glued to her. It felt like my wolf had made a decision and refused to consider any alternative; it was as if I had no say in the matter. She was caught up in laughter with someone—some guy, of course—her face lit up with a brightness that made my heart sink and soar at the same time. It was a sight I could hardly handle. Her smile was softer, kinder than I’d ever seen, and it struck a deep chord within me. The ache it produced was both beautiful and haunting—a dangerous allure that whispered promises of disaster if I allowed myself to indulge in these feelings. With an

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 111

Teya’s POVThe silence of my room pressed down on me like a weight I couldn’t shake. I sat on the edge of the bed, elbows resting on my knees, my fingers digging into my palms as if holding myself together could somehow stop the spiraling thoughts in my head. My chest still ached from the argument with Lucien, if you could call it that, his harsh words, my own sharp retorts, and that final blow I’d dealt when I’d questioned whether my wolf even recognized him.I hadn’t meant it. Not really. In that intense moment, as his rage sliced right through me like a sharp knife, I could feel my own pride crumbling into pieces, bleeding out all over the place. All I could think about was the overwhelming urge to make him feel a fraction of the pain he was inflicting on me. I wanted him to know how it felt to be wounded and vulnerable, just like I was.And you know what? I actually did it. The expression on his face just before I turned on my heel and stormed out of the room was one I knew

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 110

Lucien’s POV“Guess who I just ran into again.”I didn’t bother to hide the irritation in my sigh as Arya’s voice sliced through the silence of my office. Anger has become my constant emotion lately, simmering under my skin, ready to explode at the slightest spark. And Arya… Arya had perfected the art of striking that match.I didn’t look up from the report in my hand. “I don’t have time for your games, Arya. Leave."She laughed softly, the sound sharp and cruel. “Oh, but you’ll want to hear this one, Lucien. I saw her. In the gardens. With Ryker.”That got my attention. My grip on the paper tightened until the page crumpled. Slowly, deliberately, I raised my gaze to her. She smiled like a cat that had cornered a mouse, her amber eyes glinting with malicious satisfaction. The bitch knew exactly what she was doing, trying to get to me. The worst part was that it was working.“With Ryker? Again?" I repeated, my voice low, dangerous.Arya tilted her head, feigning innocence. “Mhm. Lookin

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 109

Ryker’s POVIt was strange, the way a single conversation could shift the ground beneath your feet. For weeks, Teya had looked at me like I was a ticking bomb—one wrong move away from proving her suspicions right. And maybe she wasn’t entirely wrong. I had given her plenty of reasons to believe that. Hell, I had practically handed her the ammunition. But now… now there was something different in her gaze.Curiosity.The sharp edge of wariness had dulled, replaced by something softer. She didn’t flinch when I approached, didn’t look for the quickest exit when our paths crossed. It was subtle, barely there, but I noticed.I noticed everything about her.Maybe that was the problem.I shouldn’t have been paying this much attention. She was Lucien’s. Everyone knew it—even if she refused to admit it out loud. That bond between them hummed in the air like static, impossible to ignore. And yet, when her eyes met mine, I caught myself wanting. Wanting something I shouldn’t have even let myself

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 108

Teya’s POVThe academy had always been loud, buzzing with the chatter of students and the occasional growl of dominance disputes, but today it felt deafening. Every glance, every whispered laugh, every subtle nudge carried the same weight—me.I had somehow become the story of the week, and not in the way anyone would want. Imagine this: a regular human girl caught right in the middle of an epic love triangle between the powerful Alpha heir and the enigmatic dark wolf prince. It sounds dramatic, right? Truthfully, it didn't matter that neither of them really understood the full story, nor did they grasp how wildly the truth had morphed and twisted into something completely unrecognizable. To everyone else, it was just the latest gossip—a sensational spectacle, a juicy little joke to share over a drink. And here I was, the central figure of the whole mess, wishing more than anything to just fade away into the background and make it all disappear. That’s how I ended up here, retreat
