We are getting closer to seeing Caleb again and to the action of fighting Noya and her followers!
I’m unsure how I feel knowing that Dani has spoken to Dania. I can only assume Dania would call because the guild was hoping to get my location from it. So, it explains why my phone was destroyed so suddenly, and I had to get a new one. Now I’m curious what they spoke about. We didn’t have anything left to say to each other after I broke up with her. Maybe she had things to say. I just don’t want to hear them. I can ask her about that later. I’ll add it to the list of things we should talk about. I’m sure she’ll want to know more details about what happened while she was asleep, and I’ll fill her in on most of it. I will skip the nightmare fuel walking into the greenhouse at John and Aunt Sarael’s house. I would like to forget it ever happened. It’s bad enough I’ve heard them having sex. Dani does not need to hear about the trauma of walking in on my Aunt’s hand in John’s pants while his hands were pushing her shirt up as they were a few moments from fucking on the wooden table in th
“How old is the girl?” Caleb questioned. “Eight, maybe nine. We didn’t even know Kurt had a sibling until recently when she came of age for the family link to click into place. And then security footage of her parents using her to steal something from a vault six years ago.” Isis explained. “She was young in the video, a toddler at best. Siegfried and his mate used their daughter to steal my inheritance from my grandmother.” Kurt explained with a heavy sigh. “Steal your inheritance? What did they steal, and why would they need a toddler for that?” Caleb inquired. I could see the hesitation in Kurt’s face as he looked at Isis, probably sharing a private conversation on how much to share. “A silver scepter. It is enchanted only to let the rightful Alpha of the Silverclaw pack hold it. My grandmother was the last in our line who could hold it. Obviously, Siegfried wasn’t able to. And given it is made of silver, he used my sister as she was too young to be injured by silver to take it.
I knew I shouldn’t have left Caleb alone with Khalid. He doesn’t always know when to keep his mouth shut. I don’t know what he told Khalid. I know it’s got him annoyed with me. Not the good “I’m getting fucked hard later” kind of annoyed. The “I’m going to have to answer questions” annoyed. When I find out what happened while I was busy proving to Mariana which of us is stronger, I’m kicking Caleb’s ass. I almost wanted Caleb to tell them no. It’s selfish, of course. I don’t want to deal with Khalid and Byron in one place. I know Bryon, and he will act like a stupid jealous ass when he finds out Khalid is my mate. But I’ll put my selfish desire not to deal with that drama to secure the safety of this child. I don’t have to know Kurt or this sister he never knew. She’s a child, and hurting children is my no-go rule. A rule I know Caleb follows too. He had a kid before he was turned, so he has a soft spot on that subject. So I wasn’t surprised that after hearing that a child was involv
Damn it. Dani distracted me with sex. Well, a blow job and then sex. But still, I had been set that I would get answers as soon as we were alone. It shows how little control I have over myself when I’m with her. I would say it’s because she marked me, but that would be a lie. She pushes my buttons all the right way to get me into a lust frenzy. But I managed to get my mind back on track after that lust haze faded. I didn’t think this would be some light-hearted talk, but I wasn’t prepared for how heavy it would be. When Dani got out of bed, I thought maybe it was to pace, but she put my shirt on, and that was my first clue this was going to be a serious conversation. If I’ve learned anything about Daniela, it’s that she’s not shy. She owns her body and wields it like a weapon. At least against me, it feels. I can’t count how many times she stayed naked if we argued after she woke up or if she woke up during the day. She didn’t even throw a robe on when hotel staff came in to clean or
I was awake and had my fill of blood before it was time for us to leave. I heard all about Khalid’s sparring with Nigel and that he won. Here’s hoping these wolves will start giving him more credit. But soon enough, it was time to head out. I’m not sure how tonight will go, and I don’t just mean the retrieval of the girl. Byron will be there, and I hope he doesn’t try to make a scene. Twenty of us were divided into vehicles to be part of the infiltration. Of course, Khalid and I ended up in the car with his sister, her mate, and the Kinsley brothers. I’m not sure if that was for our benefit or theirs. Probably a mixture as they still want to keep an eye on us. In our vehicle, tensions were running high. For the Kinsley brothers, this was a chance to put down their treacherous Sub-Beta, and for Kurt and Isis, this was the first step to taking their pack. So I won’t fault Isis for visibly being worried. “It’s going to be fine. Just stick close to me. I don’t want you getting too far f
It didn’t take us long to find Byron and Collin. Just follow the sounds of a very pissed-off werewolf. We all knew coming here while Noya was in heat was a double edge sword. To get to the girl and maybe the scepter is offered us an opportunity as she and Wade would be distracted. The problem is that her being in heat makes Wade more volatile. As our group reached the fight, a crazed Wade had Byron backed into a corner in his wolf form. When I met him months ago, he wasn’t a bright wolf, and it doesn’t appear that much has changed. So I don’t like the idea of adding crazed, over-protective, mated male to the list of his problems. Any hunter worth their salt can tell when the human or wolf is in control. Wade wasn’t in control of his wolf, and his wolf wasn’t entirely in control either. They had gone feral at this point. We were dealing more with a rabid oversized wolf than a logical creature. This was the hazard of attacking while Noya was in heat. Glancing to the right, I could see
It seems a lot can happen while you sleep the day away. Noya attacked Talia through a bracelet, and a shit ton of Silverclaw wolves set up camp nearby. Then Khalid and his family set up an anti-witch barrier around Mount Adams and in the tunnels for good measure. So the work was all done by the time I woke up. “Ready to not be in close quarters with my Aunt and her mate?” Khalid asked, tossing me a blood bag as I packed our bags. “I’m sure we scared them more than they scared you.” I rolled my eyes. “Either way, it’s all temporary. We won’t be staying forever. We have asshole fathers to take care of after this.” I pointed out, picking up my suitcase. “Yes. I know, and I’ve made it clear to Isis that staying with them in Mount Adams is temporary. I just want to be sure that the threat of Noya is gone before we handle our business.” Khalid nodded. “I promised to kill Toño, and I don’t want to put that off for long.” “As long as we are on the same page.” I nodded, following him out. W
A scream caught both our attention. “This way!” Khalid shouted, leading the way to a she-wolf clutching a baby and a second older child to her chest as a group of Syndicate circled her snarling. Three were in wolf while one male sneered as he walked in human. “You fucking bitch. How dare you turn against Noya and the Syndicate. You will pay with your life and the life of that pup.” He threatened, shifting as he went to lunge at the child. Hurting children, especially babies, are a hard no in my books. I’ve watched one innocent life be taken. I will never allow another. I rushed forward, knocking him out of the way with a hiss. “TOUCH THEM AND DIE MUTT!” I promised. “You heard my mate.” Khalid agreed as he held his pistols up, taking the woman’s flank. We made sure to keep the she-wolf and her pups between us. Khalid used two guns, aiming for non-vital spots on the rogues. While I had enough of this shit, narrowing my eyes as I focused my mind on theirs. And smiled as they dropped to
