26: Aiden
When Willow came to, she had a look on her face that Aiden could only describe as realization and acceptance. She blinked a few times with Dante beside her. Aiden never saw someone disappear mentally like that before, but he half expected for her to not come back looking so calm either.
"It all makes sense." She finally said, "Her revenge and why we are connected." Her eyes lifted to Amira's. Aiden glanced over to his Mate and recognized the glimmer of acknowledgment in hers.
"What did you see, my dear?" Dante asked as he tucked her hair behind her ear. Aiden followed the tuck down for a moment and noticed two dark scars on Willow's neck that he could only assume were left by Dante at some point. He felt his stomach churn for a moment as he turned his gaze away and stood a bit closer to Amira. She raised a brow at him questioningly.
"All that I needed to." She said as her hands rested in her lap, "I watched the day Karmina died."

The bolt whistled through the air before piercing deeply into the trunk of an oak tree. Amira let out a slow breath that turned into white smoke before her eyes. The sun was nearly set, long, dark shadows casted across the clearing she made into her practice field. The snow was still thick on the ground, the Wisconsin Winter nearly half way finished, yet the cold and snow only seemed to get worse. She peered over to Dante's half-naked sleeping form beside her. She brushed her fingers through his dark hair and caressed his cheek. He stirred slightly, but did not wake as she crawled out of bed as slowly and quietly as possible. The warmth of the sun surprised her as her eyes fluttered open to find herself standing in a grassy field with dandelions scattered about in all directions. The air was still chilled yet not a speck of snow in sight. She patted herself down, feeling the fabric of her clothes and the softness of her face and hands. It all felt real to her, but it also felt like a dream at the same time. She ran her fingers over the blades of grass when her she felt someone watching her. She looked around and spotted a woman dressed in an off white tunic that fell just below her mid thigh. The tunic was pulled over her right shoulder with a clasp that seemed to pin it in place. A leather belt wrapped around her waist with what looked like a thin quiver attached at her hip. On her arms were braces strapped to them with gloves that had the index and pinky finger exposed. He folded his arms over his broad chest as he gazed at the sleeping Willow and Dante snuggled up on the small sofa tucked into the corner of the bookshop. When he awoke and noticed that his Mate hadn't come to bed, he grew a bit worried and came down to investigate. Snow crunched beneath her boots as she walked alongside the lake. Ice layered the surface of the water and gave a beautiful reflection of the moon and stars.
