Building the pack facilities

Chapter Ten

I ran up the stairs to my room after I watched my mom go towards the Alpha office to talk with my dad about what she learned. I quickly change into my workout clothes for the training with my dad, and run back down to the Alpha office to try to eavesdrop on the convo my parents are having about what mom learned and refused to tell me.

When I get closer to the office door I remember that the office is sound proof even with my ear pressed to the door. I grumble because I still can’t hear anything, then I remember that mom stupidly taught me the eavesdropping spell as a kid as one of my 1st few spells. I try it, but I still can’t hear anything, so then I come up with another plan, ‘Maybe I can get my dad to spill the beans later while we’re training’.

Since I can’t hear anything I decide to go down to the kitchen to get my pre-workout drink and mind-link my dad telling him I’ll be waiting for him at the training grounds while he and mom are talking.

VIOLETS POV

When we got home I mind-linked my husband, and asked him where he was at and that we needed to talk about Ashley’s friend Bella and her family. He tells me via mind-link that he is in his office and I start walking up to that floor. 

When I get inside for extra privacy from eavesdroppers, like my daughter Ashley, I cast a sound proof ward over the door. I sit down in one of the chairs in front of his desk, Havirth gives me a weird look like ‘What’s up with the extra sound proof ward?’ I look at him and say, “Who do we know that knows how to do an eavesdropping spell?”

Havirth looked at me with a nod and chuckled while he said, “Our Daughter.” “Exactly! Hence the extra sound proof ward.” I said. “So, my darling wife, what did you find out on your shopping trip today?” “Well” I said, “Quite a lot about a few of her friends' parents.” “Oh?” he said.

“The biggest thing I found out today is that Bella is a Half Wolf shifter, yes she has the gene, and her mother Paula is a Full wolf shifter. Paula was from the Pure Bloods Pack in a different state and when they found out that she had a human mate they kicked her out of the pack. Her husband's name is John but I haven’t met him yet as it was all moms there” 

“They decided to move to Wolf Creek Colorado and just live here since she knew the closest pack was over 700 miles away. She hasn’t told her husband that she is a shifter and that they are fated mates or what fated mates means. She also told me that they are having money problems right now, so instead of just paying for Ashley’s new clothes I used some of our funds to buy Bella’s more expensive clothes that she wanted.”

“I also told her that I would speak to our Alpha, but did not let her know as of right now that I was the Luna of the Pack, about the possibility of her family joining our pack. So that Bella would have fellow shifters around her when she turns 18 to help with the process.” “She told me that she will talk to her husband about moving closer to us so that we can help with their money problems and I gave a few moms my cell phone number so it seemed less pointed at only Paula.”

“Another thing I found out is that a few of the other kids' moms have like a quarter shifter gene but I don’t think any of them know about that side and none of the other girls have the gene.”

“Wow, you certainly found lots of info out, and of course they can join the pack. We will in the next week start fixing up one of the closer dwelling houses for her family and yes I’m glad in good faith that you paid for their daughters clothes.” Havirth said.

“I find it strange though that a few of the other moms are quarter shifters but have no idea that they are. We might have to look into the history of Wolf Creek in the pack Archives to see how it has been bled out so much that the other parents don’t know that they even carry the gene.” Well, that’s an issue for another day, and I did tell Ash that I will be training her for 8 hours on Saturdays and Sundays on Alpha Duties. Though to keep her on her toes I might just start that tomorrow, and just do regular training today since there is not enough daylight left for the things I had planned for today’s lesson.” 

“That sounds like a good idea, hunny, and I’ll text Paula to let her know that you said you’d be more than happy to accept them into our pack, along with finding out how many rooms they would need and decoration ideas for their home dwelling” I said.

I got up from the chair, walked around and kissed my sexy dragon husband and dropped the sound proof ward and walked to our room to change into comfortable clothes to go look at the different houses closer to our little town area to find the perfect one for Paula and her family.

I will at first tell Paula to tell her husband that she got offered a higher paying job in a town a 30 minute drive from Wolf Creek, but not that this is a pack. Also, find out what her husband does for a living and offer him a job in town as well that pays more as an incentive and that we will pay for home relocation and the house for the 1st year.  That way we can move them closer, as well as offer that same option to the rest of Ashley's friends' parents. We might just find some daycare workers or teachers for the human side and find out the history of why that side was bled out of their heritage and why they don’t know about shifters at all.

ASHLEY POV

When dad finally got down to the training grounds, where I was working on some of my combat training, I noticed that at minimum an hour had gone by and we were losing daylight hours. “Hey dad, so what are we going to work on right now? Do I need to go shower and change and meet in the office for Alpha training or are we starting out here?”

“No, sweetie, tonight I think we’ll just work on your combat and patrol training, and then bright and early tomorrow morning we’ll start on the office training. However, since you did spend a lot of the day out shopping, tomorrow we are going to be doing your Alpha training longer to make up for today. So get your mind ready for at least 14 hours of being in the office and learning tomorrow.” my dad said.

“Noooo” I groaned, “Dad that is soooo long. My brain will be fried by the time we’re done” I said. “Guess you should’ve come home sooner then, huh sweetie.” my dad said. I grumbled and started stretching again. Well maybe during the patrol run I can figure out what my mom found out from my dad.

An hour later, while out on the patrol run I tried different ways to get dad to spill the beans on what mom found out, but he instead changed the topic to asking me about terms I knew and what I am supposed to be looking for on these patrols. After almost 2 hours of trying I gave up that he was going to tell me anything and focused on the terms and the patrol.

HAVRITH POV

After patrol with my daughter, I head to the study as I want to find out more about the pack lands and the town. I'm curious about this town. I'm wondering if maybe this town is the left over pack members that became Rogues and then had children with humans. I also need to look into where we're going to put all my daughters' crazy ideas. I love my daughter, but she has big dreams. Tomorrow I will start calling people we need to get started on these plans, and figure out where we are going to put the buildings.

ASHLEY POV

After our patrol my father and I head to the alpha floor, he heads into the study, and I make a beeline for my shower, as I really need one right now. I grab my cute black with cute skull pajama shorts and a pink and red skull rose crop top tank, and one of my boy short underwear. As I kick my shoes off and throw my dirty workout clothes into my hamper in my closet, I jump into my steaming hot shower, it has a rainfall shower head and spray jets on the sides, I wash my hair and lather my body with my new Bath & Body works Shower gel “Maui Sunset” scent. 

After I rinsed off and exited my shower, I stepped over to my mirror, and noticed that some of my hair had started to change in color. My midnight black with purple and red streaks now has some lighter blue streaks throughout and what looks like pinks at the tips. I make a mental note to ask my dad and mom about it in the morning.

As my alarm goes off at 5 am, I struggle to get out of bed. I get dressed in my purple crop top with my purple sports bra underneath, my black and purple leggings and my new black training boots. I head down to breakfast that my mom and Kim's mom have wonderfully prepared. 

As I kissed my mom good morning, as she grabbed my shoulders and pulled me closer, she looked at my hair and said, ”Hmmm, looks like someone used some magic recently. I knew that you would try to use that eavesdropping spell yesterday when I was talking with your dad. I see that new colors in your hair have started to come in from your witch side. The more you learn in magic, and use it the more prominent that those colors will become.”

“Maybe, we should start your training in witchcraft again? That is, if you think you can learn 3 different things at the same time? Or do you want to wait another year?” mom says. “I would love to, mom, but I'm already getting things mixed up between Alpha training and human school. Maybe next year I'll have less things required to graduate and then I can take fewer classes to train with you.” I say.

“We can see about starting next year, but now that you are free to use your magic, and have used it, you will now need to learn more so you don't get in trouble. I really think you need to start training. Just so you know if you stop using it your colors in your hair will not go back to normal.”

“However if we don't start your training again at least by summer, you could end up with a magic blockage that can hurt your powers. It can also cause you to lose control of it and have either really bad or really weird things happen when you least expect it.” Mom says.

“Okay mom, now you're scaring me. We'll start as soon as we get out of human school this year for summer.” I say. 

After talking with my mother and eating breakfast, I headed up the stairs to my dads office. When I arrived, I knocked on the door before entering. My father was on the phone, and he waved me over to a chair on his right side. As I sat down, I heard my dad talking to a surveyor, he was setting up an aerial survey for next week, and a ground surveyor for the following week. The surveyor’s were for all the buildings I suggested. 

When my dad got off the phone, I looked at my dad, and told him, “Dad we will need 2 more sites, one for a YMCA and one more for an Events Center. It will be for the mating balls, the ceremonies and other pack events, in which people from other packs and the human town can go into, so we can protect our pack. The Events Center needs to have a garden and outdoor stage, so if it's nice outside, we can do outdoor mating balls. So technically we need a total of 6 sites. The last one being the daycare, kindergarten and preschool building with a small playground attached to it.” 

When my dad got off the phone, I told him, “The hospital needs to be near the town, while the 2 orphanages need to be between the town and the pack gate, with half toward the pack gate and half toward the town. The event center should be in between, with it backing up closer to the forest edge, for shifting without the humans seeing them.”

“The school and the daycare should be closer to the pack house with the playground being toward the school and orphanage. We’ll also need a big field area near the school and orphanage that can be like an after school/weekend playground and obstacle course for both the adults and kids to do.”

 “I'm going to ask the enchanted packlands either later today or this week, before the surveyors come, to put up a barrier between the pack house and town. So it looks like a mansion instead of a packhouse, so that the humans won't see us shifting or using our abilities.” I say. My dad gives me a ‘Holy Fuck, WTF?’ look. “Speaking of that, I was also thinking we could have the witches cast a glamour spell on the wolves. So we can have the glamoured wolves and witches patrol the town and main gate area during the day, and at night when everything closes we can just patrol as normal.”

HAVIRTH POV

As my daughter is telling me, we have somehow added 3 new buildings to our build list. All I can do is think how proud I am of her, that she is thinking of all the pack needs, and that this is going to take a lot of time and money. However, I think she is right, we need all these things, as I have a feeling we are going to become a very popular pack in the near future. My daughter has big ideas and even bigger dreams. She doesn't know it yet, but I'm very much in awe of her right now.

ASHLEY POV

Now that I have my dad just shocked enough, I drop the BIG Bombshells on him. I start telling him about the buildings, how they are all going to be laid out, and what they will have in them.

 “So dad, I'm thinking the school can be 3 levels. The 1st floor will be the administration offices and indoor gym/playground for when it’s colder weather, the 2nd floor will be 1st grade through 5th grade, the 3nd floor will be 6th grade through 8th grade. I also want a 2 story connected building for 9th grade through 12th grade with a cafeteria between them, as well as a library.” 

“As for the 2 orphanages, those will be 3 stories. The top floor will have 16 double  bedrooms and 2 bathrooms one male one female with showers for the 7-14 year olds, the 2nd floor will be the newborn to 6 year olds with 10 double bedrooms with a unisex bathroom and workers to help when they need to go, that are dedicated to the younger kids needs, whereas the 1st floor will have the kitchen and extra bathrooms and some offices for the workers.”

“The daycare/Pre-K/Kindergarten school will be between the 2 orphanages, with a playground on both sides connecting them. That way, the kids can still go to school so they feel like still part of the pack and the higher ranking adults can do monthly story-time reading visits to be able to ‘Sense’ if a child is of the supernatural world, and move them out of the main orphanage and into the supernatural one until a family adopts them.”

“The YMCA building will be 3 stories, the bottom floor being big enough to fit 2 large pools, one for kids ages 3-9 and one for kids ages 10-17, it will also have a smaller indoor pool for parents to teach their kids how to swim starting at age 2+, and admin offices for registration and for parents to pay the $10 monthly f*e per household. Then the 2nd floor will have basketball, tennis, badminton and handball courts along with 2 bathrooms one male and one female. The 3rd floor will have a sauna and gym, with showers and offices for counseling with teen help.”

“As for the Event Center, I already went over that one, but the last building, the hospital, will be 3 buildings in one.You'll have the main hospital, then the Royal Hospital and a Psych Care/Wellness Center.”

“The main hospital will be 5 floors, the first floor will be Emergency/Triage. The 2nd floor will be outpatient surgeries, and outpatient care, and Maternity Ward. The 3rd floor will be for long-term care, Children's care . The 4th floor will be High ranked Alphas and Luna care with ensuites. The 5th floor will be the administration offices and also has research and development.”

“There will be a 3rd building connected, that will be for a Psych Care/Wellness Center. It will be a 2 story building for different areas of care. The 1st floor of the hospital will also have a cafeteria and gift/wellness shop center, along with the pharmacy. Outside will be 2 helio pads 1 for emergencies and the other for regular transport to other speciality hospitals. Every building will have a basement for storage, boiler rooms, main generators with backup, laundry rooms, morgue, extra medical equipment and/or safe rooms.”

“The Royal hospital building will be 3 levels Total. On the 1st floor is everything needed to receive patients as well as their families. It will be able to provide stabilizing care, along with private security stations outside each room. The 2nd floor will be for the families to stay in, if they don’t want to stay in the Royal Rooms in the packhouse, while their loved ones are in care. The 3rd floor will be Admin and conference rooms for them to use while in recovery. Oh, and the cafeteria is on the 2nd floor. The Royal Hospital will have its own private entrances, and all controlled by key cards that are given to Royal families and VIPs when they check in, that are then deactivated upon discharge. The only staff allowed in, will be head doctors and head nurses, all staff for the cafeteria, cleaning, and maintenance will be vetted and only work on the Royal side of the hospital. No Personal Items not supplied by the hospital will be allowed outside of the changing rooms on the 1st floor. All staff will be required to go through a security check prior to the start of shift. Each staff member will be provided a Hot/Cold 40 ounce tumbler that MUST stay in the hospital. No Outside Food or drinks allowed, not purchased in the cafeteria or cafe.”

HAVIRTH POV

When my daughter dropped all the things she wanted with the buildings, and how they will be laid out, as in what was on each floor down to the smallest detail, I started to get scared about how I was going to remember all of it. I quickly grabbed a piece of paper and started to write it all down. I can Honestly say, ‘ouch’ my hand hurt from how much info there was to write. “Honey, I really don't know what to say, that's a lot and I can’t tell if I should be impressed or horrified or both! It shows that you’ve put a lot of thought into everything that we will need to be self-sufficient, along with helping the entire community in all possible ways.”

“You even went as far as what would be needed for royals coming to visit and needing medical care, and ways for the Higher Ranking Members to be able to ‘Sense’ if someone has the supernatural gene or not. If your mother heard all this, I think she would be floored with love and support for your kind heart.”

I stood up from my chair, and pulled my daughter in for a big tight hug, I’m not ashamed to say, even a single tear rolled from the corner of my eye. I am so impressed with how much she has grown since we left Moon Haven and came here. She will definitely be an Alpha to follow and Appreciate for Centuries to come.

“I’ll give all this info over to the architect to start the plans once the surveyors have mapped all the areas out. I’m not sure how you will get in touch with the enchanted lands because I’ve tried but with no response as of yet to ask them to put up a mirage where the packhouse is.” I said. Ashley said “I don’t know how either, but sometimes they respond to my outloud wonderings.”
