Jade Pinkerton's pov

“She's a vampire but doesn't know it,” Nikolai whispered harshly in my ear and I glanced at him and said, “I know! We have to help her.”

Following after my mom I cared little about the rooms we hurried past as I focused only on her.

I had missed her more than I had realized.

Stopping in the sitting room she turned sideways and gestured for us to have a seat.

“Where's my step-dad?” I inquired and she lowered her eyes as she sat.

“There was an incident on the cruise that happened, and we decided to end our relationship, but that's not important, Jade, ” she responded harshly, giving me pause.

Sitting I looked at her with concern etched on my brow.

“Please tell me what is going on,” I pleaded to her.

Inhaling deeply her teary blue eyes met mine.

“Your father was the head of an organization that hunted monsters. He was special, and since you were his offspring, I wanted to keep you safe after his death. You see, you are like him and a real hunter;
