Dante

The pack members ended up leaving, but I was not ready for this night to end. The blood moon was still out, but it was not as dark red as it was before. I wanted to drink and since Janelle went to the bar, I decided that I would head that way as well.

“Damn,” I sighed, realizing my car was still at the entrance of the Bayou.

I sighed and begun walking to where my car was, avoiding the swamp water as I walked. My pants were wet already from rushing to stop Dominic from destroying his mother. That shit was crazy. I pushed through the bushes, getting closer to my SUV. I sighed, thinking about the shit that went down today. My mind went back to Dominic as well. He needs to learn how to control that wolf if he wanted to be with us.

That wolf, though. He brought out a bad vibe once it came to Seth and my wolf. Kai and Malachi were angry altogether because of the aura Dominic’s wolf got off.

Kai: Stop thinking about that shit.

“I can’t,” I told him. “That shit rubbed me the wrong way.”

Kai: Anubis can’t destroy Malachi and I, together. He may be powerful, but us together with Seth and Malachi will match his. So, don’t worry about him. You focus on yourself and you do what you must do to keep our asses on top of the game.

I nodded. He was right. I need to stop worrying about Anubis and focus on me and my wolf. I made it to the front entrance and seen a black SUV pull away from the area. That must’ve been Dominic and his father, I thought to myself. I looked to the left and seen my car sitting there. As I got closer to it, I stopped when I noticed the bodies weren’t there anymore. I turned around, using my ears to listen for sounds of movement. There was nothing, but the cool breeze that ruffled the leaves on the trees.

“They’re gone,” I said to my wolf. “I thought we injured them to the point they couldn’t move.

Kai: Let’s get out of this area but be wary of your surroundings. Check your car because I remember you never locked it.

My heart was beating hard in my chest. I did not know why, but I knew it had to do something with my truck. I cracked my neck before I continued forward, ready for anything now. I reached for the car handle and I was immediately kicked from the car, glass shattered everywhere. I landed on the ground with a hard thud, but it did not keep me down. I got up; my wolf’s fangs already extracted as my eyes stayed glued to the driver’s door.

Both doors to the truck opened and I smiled when I saw two females hop out. They were both injured, but not too severe. The other girl came around to the driver side and they turned their attention to me. Their feet crunched the glass underneath as they made their way towards me, ready for another go. I heard some more footsteps and I turned my head to the right. The males they were with before, were back.

“Wow, an ex-member of the Hale pack, hanging with the Reject,” One laughed. “You should be ashamed of yourself.”

“You should’ve stayed with your pack,” The other one said. “We’ll show you why you should never side with the enemy, especially Dominic.”

My eyes switched back and forth from the girls to the men that circled around me. I needed to keep all of them in my view since they were trying to jump me. I turned my eyes back to the girls and smiled.

“You must not know me that well,” I told them as I felt my wolf taking control of me. “I don’t need my pack. It’s better to fight by myself, anyways. More bloodshed for me.

“You’re dumb if you think you can take us down.” They began shifting in front of me.

Kai growled as he took form. His growl was not the only one I heard. The remainder of James’ pack shifted as well, ready to take me down. I knew I was going to suffer some heavy blows tonight, but I was going to kill every one of them.

“And you’re bold to think you can challenge a former Gamma from the Hale pack,” I told them. “You just the biggest mistake.”

My transformation finished and already the girls charged at me, the men followed their lead. This was about to be bloody.

**

Blood was everywhere. Not just mines, but the other wolves as well. The girls’ bodies dropped beside their fallen members, one dead and the other, now severely injured. She had a gash in the middle of her stomach. It was deep to the point that she had to keep her hand there. I slammed into my truck, holding my right side. I’m not going to lie, they both did a good amount of damage to me, but I was going to come back from this. She transformed back into her human self, her wolf groaning from the wounds as it disappeared. She tried to get up, but her body was too weak due to the loss of blood.

           “Ugh!” She screamed in pain.

I leaned my head back against the car, but kept my eyes on her, making sure she did not move. I already knew what came next with her; she was going to die.

“If my husband was here, you would’ve been dead,” she said to me. “He should’ve dealt with you and the fucking bastard a long time ago.”

I smirked, even let out a small snicker. This bitch was dumb. She does not even know Dominic killed her husband a long time ago. She looked up at me with glowing red eyes, her face filled with anger.

“Your husband is dead,” I finally announced.

“That’s not true,” She said. “He said he would handle Dominic.”

“Wow, so you do know his name. Yes, Dominic killed James. We took over the Bayou.”

Her eyes wondered over to her dead pack and sniffled. She held her stomach, where I sliced her at with my long sharp claws.

“It hurts,” She said, softly. “I never thought dying would hurt.”

“Nobody said dying was easy, either.”

She laid down next to her partner and turned her head towards her. It did not take long for her to stop moving and to rest in peace. I stood there; my eyes traveled to every dead member of James’ pack. I moved from the truck and walked over to her dead body. On the verge of kneeling beside her, another voice caught me off guard. This voice had coldness within it, that caused the hair on my neck to stick all the way up.

Mr. Callighan: I hope Dominic didn’t think that bullshit with James would catch my attention. He needs to do a lot better if he wants to prove he could take me on.

When he said those words, I knew exactly who it was. I smirked as I turned to get into my car.

“He did something,” I replied. “To think you would contact me, out of all the other wolves in the pack.”

Mr. Callighan: Don’t sleep on me, Dante. Remember we are family.

Once I was in the car, I started the truck up and let it warm up. When I put the car in drive, I kept my foot on the brakes, keeping myself from hitting my uncle. He stood there, staring in the direction of the Bayou before he turned his glowing yellow eyes over to me.

Mr. Callighan: Remember who raised you boy. You came from my brother’s nut sack.

“Yeah and I wished your brother raised me instead of you.”

I removed my foot off the brake and pressed on the gas. He moved out of the way this time and I sped off towards the bar, away from him.

Mr. Callighan: Regardless of how you feel, you will always be my family. My blood runs through your veins. Don’t forget that!

I ignored his words as I drove further and further away from the Bayou. Yeah, I am Mr. Callighan’s nephew. But I will never follow his footsteps. I will help Dominic defeat his ass, even if that means he gets the same treatment as those that he stayed back with. I smirked to myself before I sent him a little message.

           Me: I will kill you.

A chuckle appeared within my head and I continued to smirk. He just did not know how much I meant every word.

           Mr. Callighan: Good luck trying.
