I hear voices, but I don't understand what they were saying. I don't have the strength to open my eyes nor move a finger... I felt helpless, weak and hopeless.
I don't know how many minutes or hours had passed when I regained my strength. My hands and feet were tied, I was lying on a hospital like bed when I opened my eyes.
I tilt my head from left to right , and there I saw the cab driver was sitting silently on the corner.
He looked differently, he looked young unlike the first time we've met.
He saw me struggling, "I see you're awake. Sorry to tie you up like that."
"Why am I tied? What do you plan on doing to me? Did you teleported me?" I angrily said as I continued struggling.
He took the chair with him and place it near the bed.
I looked at him as I stopped struggling form my chains.
He sat down, resting his head on his arms which leans on the chair's back.
"Samuel, you've been out for days." he said neutral, no emotions on his face.
What! How about Whitney?
"Don't worry about your girl, she's fine. Later we'll take her here."
How did he know?
"I can read your thoughts Sam. Sorry for being rude, I am Oscar. Have you forgotten me?"
I tried recalling my years, I never had any encounters with a guy named Oscar.
"Maybe you'll remember if I told you the name, Pietro" then he smiled.
That hits. Pietro was one of my schoolmate, I left school after Ms. Florence told me the death of my mom. I didn't knew he was still alive.
"I'm like you and Mr. Kinsman. I've been guiding you."
He stood up and his hand went to his pocket. He holds a silver key, it clinks as he inserts it to the lock that ties me. I didn't asked him why he's untying me.
After he unlock the last latch, I sat up. I rubbed my wrist that's been aching because of the pain.
I looked at him, I don't have the guts to speak. He sat again to his chair, "So, you're giving me a silent treatment. Okay. Listen up"
"After you left, my mom started to teach me the basics of time traveling. We were hybrids. My father was a mortal, and my mom is the other way around. I was very jealous of you when I knew you're a pure immortal. Hybrids can live longer if we travel through centuries, we cannot travel like yours. I tried searching why your mom died."
My eyes grew, when I heard he's looking for the reason of my mom's death.
"Why?" I asked him.
"Sam, you're an immortal. Pure immortal. Why would an immortal die, just because of pneumonia? I don't believe that your mom just died of being ill... There should be a foul play.”
"It's been a hundred of years...Your father lied to you. Even you doesn't know where he is. But I knew where."
"Where's my father? Please, tell me.”
"Cooperate with me and I'll tell you where he is."
I just nod. He stood up and went to the door, "Are you coming or not?"
I stood up and followed him. I still don't know this place, it was a long white corridor. It was very luminous. As we were walking I can't bear the idea he cared about my family, even though he's jealous.
I asked him, "Pietro... Why do you care about my family?"
"You're so naïve. You'll soon see."
He chuckled as we walked on the endless corridor.
“We’re almost there, Samuel.”
The corridor was very vast, I don't know when will we reach the end of this one.
The silence was so deafening. My ears ring, I can even hear my heart pounding.
"Hey, Sam..." Pietro started, he was in front of me. He didn't took a glance of me, he continued walking.
I lost my thoughts.
"When we got there, stay calm. They might take you as an opponent."
"Yeah, sure." I shortly responded
He stopped at a steel door with a lotus carved on the middle of the door, the knob was bronze and there was an “I.M” etched around it.
“Are you ready, Sam?”
I nervously nod. My palms were cold and sweaty, I don’t know what to feel. All emotions were swirling.
He turned the knob and the steel door creaked and it turned into lotus color. The place was different. I’ve never seen such in my hundred of years…
Pietro stopped as we entered the place. He looked at me and there’s longing in how he looked at me. “Like what you see? It’s only available here.” he asked me.This place exists in the building? But how? It’s too far-fetched. It was like another world inside a building, in an urban area.Emerald fields that stretches like forever, the sun shines brightly and warm, as if someone is hugging and kissing your bare skin, different flowers are covering some of the parts of this world; roses, chrysanthemum, orchids that hang themselves on tree trunks, dandelion, tulips, you name it.There’s also fruit bearing trees; apples, bananas, star apples, mangoes, almost everything’s here; birds of paradise, primates, insects, mammals and so on.It was too good to be true.My eyes are wandering around, still in shocked of the place I’m seeing. Am I dreaming?I looked at Pietro and asked him, “Where
Whitney never listened to him, her growling grew louder, something's wrong with her.Her fur suddenly changed, I saw Pietro stepped back. I can sensed their fear; fear of the unknown. Her fangs and claws grew, her size was that like of a wolf... I never see one transform, except today, is this the effect of an immortal to a hybrid?"Retreat, Colossal" Pietro shouted. One by one they ran away, screaming. Pietro and Natasha stood still there, but I can see that they, too were scared.Without a second thought, Whitney pounced at Pietro. He fell hard on the ground, Natasha was shaking.Whitney with her sharp teeth, was about to scourge him when Natasha screamed, "Whitney, don't!"Her tears flowed down as she continuously plead.I pity them."Whitney stop it. Calm down." I told herI faint light glowed and she returned being a coll
I can vomit anytime because of the stench that comes from the outside. When I turn around, the man that has taught me about my existence stands there. He's worn out and crippling."Frederick, are you okay?" it seems mom has sensed him."I just need to take a bath" he repliedHe tapped my shoulder to greet me, he has changed. There was complete silence in the shack. The stench has disappeared, a tasty smell of dinner was tingling my nose.Whitney walked to the kitchen and happily wags her tail. My parents saw her, it seems they enjoy each other's company.I stood up and joined them, "Father, what happened to you out there?"His forehead wrinkled, as his eyebrows furrowed too, "Who are you?"It seems my appearance changed a lot, especially the different hair color I have."I'm Samuel, father. Did you forget
I woke a but earlier, I prepared a healthy breakfast so we could dig in.It was already 8 o'clock but they're still asleep. So, I decided to eat breakfast with Whitney. I gave her the meat in my plate, I had all the greens.I cleaned the shack. The clock strikes ten and the door of their room opened. Father and mother held each other, he was carrying mom like a newly wed couple. But I saw something different, mom's eyes were bleeding, but father was not worried, "Father, why does m--" before I end my queries he hushed me."She's having a vision. Her life is at stake if these visions continue to show"I tried not to tear up. he placed her down on the couch and pulled me to the dining area."Later we'll meet the hybrids. She'll be here. I heard that they have captured Isabella.""That's good news , that she's alive. The bad news is how they treat her."
I woke up at the sun rays hitting my face. I tried to move my hand to block the rays. I can't feel my body, it was numb, my mind was empty.I opened my eyes and I saw the sky. It was more blue in this time. The clouds were serene and everything seems peaceful. The soft breeze made me feel the pain of my skin. It’s still burnt. Out of the blue, a girl popped out, she was blond with cerulean eyes. She’s looking at me with curiousity on her face."Hey, mister. Why are you sleeping on the ground?"She has a very jolly voice, I felt a sting on my arm. Is she poking me?"Pokey. Mister are you impaired?" She kept poking me."Please, missy don't poke me." I told her in a very weak voice."Do you want me to help you stand up?" I think she was holding my hand.I screamed, I think my arm's gonna break.Sudde
She cautiously looked around, she let go of my arm and looked at me. She hush me and mouthed, “Be quiet.”I nodded in response. She leaned on the wall, crossed her arms as she closes her eyes.“You said you were Samuel...” she started and opened her eyes, looking straight to my eyes.“Yes. I was wondering why you seems scared, a moment ago you also pleaded that I must not hurt Talia. Did someone came before me?”Seems her face lost all its color, I immediately noticed it, “Barbara, are you okay?”She nodded.“My ancestors taught us how to distinguish mortal to immortals. My father had an immortal uncle...”“How did he know that he was a immortal?”She looked at the dining area before she replied, “Talia... Talia’s blood was the reason.”It sent shivers down my spine... The girl who saved me might be the reason of my death.Maybe that’s why father said
I lay beside Barbara and looked at her. She’s a mortal, and I am not. Father will be angry if I mingled with a mortal’s life, again. I slid my fingers on her angelic face.I remembered the notebook she gave me. I reached out to my pants which was not that far away from the bed. I held the notebook, I leaned on the headboard and comfortably sat on the bed. I opened the notebook and read it.August, 1605We never mentioned that would hurt the ties between Talia and Frederick. Talia was only five months when Frederick gave her to me. He told me that Talia was extraordinary, neither a mortal or immortal. I laughed first and didn't believe his words. I was only fifteen when Frederick handed her to me.I was an orphan, well both me and Talia now. He won’t budge and spill any more information about Talia. The only thing he spilled was her birthday. He
She was just lying down on her bed, but she’s awake already. She noticed me and smiled. She just tapped the space beside her and I followed. I sat beside her and she slowly sat too.She leaned on mly shoulder and held my hand. She rose her head and a shocked look was painted on her face. She went pale and I remembered father taught her to distinguished a mortal from the others.I saw tears forming in her eyes.“Why Sam?” she asked. Her voice was trembling as she stare at me.I bowed my head down and I didn’t know where to start, or how to explain myself to her.Seems the night became longer than before. She gazed at me while hee tears came rushing down her cheeks. I can't help to see how she looks dejected."I am sorry, Barbara. I am sorry if I haven't told you what I
