Entry 1 : September 1940

World War II just started a year ago, I don't know when will this end. War after one.

I heard from the news, that Hitler was one of the reason why it happened. They say that he has invaded some of the European countries.

What a pain. Now I am trapped again in a war between countries.

First it was World War I and now, this.

It was a cloudy Thursday, autumn was just around the corner. The sun was still nowhere to be seen. The house was only lit by few light bulbs and candles.

People during the 1880's were great for inventing these stuff. Making our lives a bit at ease.Yet, this war made our life uneasy.

But then this incident happened.

Everyone was filled with anxiety and fear that the war will stay. Seems it won't end.

I'm here at the basement, I stocked my shelves with clean waters and food. I could jump to a new age where good things may stay, but I didn't.

I'm still hoping to see what happens when I try to mingle with the mortals. What's ahead of them if I help one? Will they be a good citizen? Will they last longer?

I've seen so many deaths since I was born. I wonder how is he? Does he think of me? I hope father is safe.I hope he is still alive.

By the afternoon, an explosion was heard. The ground shook, people's screams were heard. I heard weeping and soldiers' screams.

It seems I'm in a greater trouble. I wanted to jump but something is stopping me.

At three in the afternoon, I heard knocks, loud thuds at the main door. Someone was continuously knocking, as if he or she will break my door.

The strike plate,or metal chain that links my door to the wall was still there when I open the door.

Bang!

A woman was behind it, she was asking me to help her child. She was badly injured. I can still remember what she said, "I don't expect you to care for me, but please I beg you. Take care of Geanne for me."

She was struggling because of pain. I can see that her clothes were filled with bloodstains.

The metal lock that still clings on the wall was loosened. I opened the door and let them in. And locked the door again.

I took her and her (I think newborn) child down to the basement.

I don't know why I am panicking.

She placed her child beside her, I can hear her grunting and groaning in pain.

I just thought of helping a mortal and here's the answer... This would be the first time, I'll help a mortal.

I hurriedly searched the bathroom for the first aid.

She was shot at the back.

I am no doctor but I think I can manage. Here I am, mingling with a mortal's life. Extending it...

"Madam, I need to remove your upper garments so we could remove the bullet behind you,and lastly, treat it."

Though she's hesitant, she looked at me and agreed on removing her clothes.

I washed the tools, the tools to operate on her.

It took us hours before I could say she's safe. I covered her wound with the bandage I had in my first aud kit. I left them there, so they could rest.

I went upstairs, in the master’s bedroom to get some mattress ,pillows, pillow cases and some blankets.

This year, I am not alone. This will be the first time in my two hundred years of stay in the world, that I'll be with someone. This someone is a mortal.

I am dragging the mattress, while the pillows, blanket and their covers were placed in a bag. The basement is large enough for a family.

When I returned, both of them were fast asleep.

I prepared their room, I placed a divider between our spaces.

I even go the extra mile of making a crib for the child.

I'm so drained...

I think I used all my energy today. I went to my bed and went to sleep. I'm so tired.
