The next day, Edward arrived at the courthouse. Elizabeth and her family were waiting in front, their faces full of hatred.
Great, Elizabeth's younger brother, burst into mockery as soon as Edward appeared.
"Look who's finally here! This loser is wasting our time waiting for him."
Elizabeth looked at Edward coldly, full of contempt.
As Edward approached, Elizabeth spoke sharply, piercing the air between them.
"You are shameless, Edward. Making us wait as if none of this matters to you."
"I have no obligation to explain anything to you. I've come; that's enough, " Edward replied, looking at him emotionlessly.
"What did you say? It doesn't matter! You already ruined my sister's future, and now you're trivializing this divorce?" Great shouted angrily. Stepping forward, however, Elizabeth stopped his steps.
"Stop it already, don't make a scene here," she said sternly. Remembering yesterday's incident, she was horrified and did not want her sister to experience the same thing.
Edward only glanced at her without replying. Calmly, he walked into the courthouse, leaving those still looking at him with hatred behind.
The trial began. The judge listened to the statements of both parties. After considering everything, the final decision was made.
"You are now officially divorced," the judge said before tapping his gavel.
As he left the courtroom, Edward looked at Elizabeth, warning her for the last time.
"I hope you don't regret this decision."
Elizabeth looked up, giving him a cold stare.
"I won't," she replied firmly, walking away to join her family.
Outside the waiting court, Elizabeth's family greeted her with big smiles. "Finally, we are free of your poor husband," Rossa, Elizabeth's biological mother, said with satisfaction.
Elizabeth nodded, feeling guilty.
"I'm sorry I shamed the family by marrying a poor man like him," she said disdainfully.
"Now it's all over. Let's go home." Elizabeth's father said
However, before they left, Edward's voice was heard.
"I'm also relieved now. At least I'm not stuck with a family that only values money."
Elizabeth turned angry.
"You're a hypocrite, Edward! Everyone needs money and luxury!"
"She'll live in poverty!" Great laughed mockingly
Edward looked at them and said sharply,
"What are you proud of Steve's wealth? Wealth earned by cheating doesn't last long."
"Are you accusing me of embezzling company money? Can you prove it?" Asked Steven, who had just arrived, his face still bruised and bandaged.
"I will get that evidence and easily get you in jail," Edward replied calmly.
"Bullshit!" shouted Steven. "You..." Steven wanted to reply, but Elizabeth stopped him.
"Steven, stop," Elizabeth pleaded. Then she looked at Edward, "Edward, you better leave now. Don't talk any more nonsense here. You're too narrow-minded about money. I know you're poor and can't live the city lifestyle. So, stop talking that makes people look down on you."
"Do you talk like that? Do you think money is everything? Then enjoy it," Edward said. Then, Edward threw money at Elizabeth. The money flew, and Elizabeth's family began to pick it up without shame.
"This is the real you and your family, no different from a stray dog, forgetting everything when it sees prey. Goodbye, and may you be happy with the life you think is perfect." Then he walked away, leaving Elisabeth in shock and embarrassment.
Outside the courthouse, a black Mercedes was waiting. Lee, his assistant, opened the door, and Edward entered without turning around.
Steven watched from a distance, feeling something strange. "That car... I think I've seen it before," he muttered, trying to remember.
Elizabeth and her family were silent, unable to believe what had happened.
"He had a Mercedes?" asked Great incredulously.
"No way," Rossa said. "Must have been a rental car to create drama."
Great nodded, agreeing. "He thinks this will make us regret it? Ridiculous."
"We can't just let this go," Great said firmly.
Rossa smiled slightly. "I agree."
In the car, Edward sat quietly, staring out the window. Sitting in the front, Lee felt angry at Elizabeth's treatment of Edward, but he restrained himself.
"Prince, are we going straight back to the palace?" Lee asked finally.
"No. We're the company I work for.
"Yes, prince."
After travelling for a few minutes, Edward arrives at the company; Edward immediately packs up his things without saying much.
His decision to resign instantly became a hot topic among his coworkers.
As he was packing, a red-haired woman approached him with a sardonic smile.
"So, you want to quit?" she asked mockingly.
"Yeah, why?" Edward replied briefly, glancing at her.
"What a pity. If I were your wife, I'd probably do the same thing. Good looks aren't enough when you're poor," he said dismissively, followed by a small laugh.
"None of your business. Besides, what man would want to marry a woman like you?" he replied coldly.
The woman immediately snorted, offended. "A woman like me? What's wrong with me? You mean I'm so ugly that no one would want me? Cih... at least I'm a good woman, unlike your wife who sells herself for money!"
Edward gave her a sharp look before saying in a piercing tone, "Or perhaps no man would buy you?"
Without waiting for a response, Edward turned and left, leaving the woman speechless, her face flushed with anger.
"Edward! You insolent, ugly son of a bitch!" she shouted, but Edward paid her no mind.
The few colleagues who overheard the conversation tried to stifle their laughter. However, the atmosphere changed when another employee reprimanded them.
"Shut up! It's rude to laugh at other people like that," someone said seriously, making everyone immediately fall silent.
Arriving at the building lobby, Edward bumped into Kyla, the company's CEO. Kyla stopped him and looked at him in surprise.
"Edward, where are you going? Why are you carrying your things?" Kyla asked.
"I'm resigning, Miss," Edward replied curtly.
"Resigned? Why is there a problem with your work?" Kyla looked surprised.
"No, Miss. It's not with work. I feel it's time to go."
Kyla looked at her closely, trying to understand. "Are you sure? Is there something that makes you uncomfortable here?"
Before Edward could answer, the red-haired woman appeared again.
"Miss Kyla, you don't seem to have heard the latest news, which is why Edward resigned?" she said excitedly.
Kyla frowned. "What news?" she asked curiously.
The girl chuckled before answering, "Edward divorced his wife. He was cheated on. Poor guy. He was so handsome but poor."
Kyla gave the girl a sharp look, making her stop laughing. "Really? In that case, you can quit this company too. Go to Human Resources and take your remaining salary."
"Huh? But, Miss..." The girl stammered, trying to defend herself. But Kyla didn't give her a chance to speak.
"Leave or apologize to Edward right now," Kyla cut in firmly, her voice leaving no room for bargaining.
"Apologize?" he asked in a disbelieving tone.
"Yes, apologize," Kyla repeated. "Do you think talking like that is appropriate? No! It reflects your bad attitude, laughing at your partner who's in trouble. Your behaviour is disgraceful."
The girl's face turned red with embarrassment. Reluctantly, she walked over to Edward. "I'm sorry," she said softly.
"What? I didn't hear that," Edward replied, looking at her flatly.
"Ha? Haiss..., this sucks." The girl sighed, then took a deep breath. "Edward, I apologize for teasing you. I didn't mean to be insulting. I was talking."
Edward nodded slowly. "Okay, I'm sorry."
"Huh? Just like that?" The girl looked incredulous.
"So what else? Do I want to calculate with you?"
"Ha? No, well, thank you," she said finally before leaving with quick steps, still feeling awkward.
Edward only smiled slightly at his partner, who actually liked to talk just to get his attention. His heart wasn't entirely bad.
"Edward, come with me," Kyla said, catching Edward's attention.
"Yes, Miss," Edward replied, following Kyla's lead.
By now, the two were in Kyla's study. The woman stared intently at Edward, her mind busy thinking of ways to keep the man, one of the company's top staff,
Edward's presence in the company was less than a year old, but his contributions had already brought significant changes. Kyla knew that the company would most likely decline if Edward left.
She didn't want that to happen and was determined to keep him around.
His mind raced while Edward focused on the pendant he wore around his neck. He recognized the pendant, similar to the one his ex-wife wore. But how could it be? There were only two pendants in the world, and one had been destroyed. The other one was still with him, but this...
Is it possible that he recognized the wrong person? No way, his heart was full of doubts.
Curiosity drove Edward to seek the truth about the pendant immediately. However, before he could pursue his thoughts further, his cell phone rang, distracting him.
"Of course, I allowed it. But why are you being like this? Do you think you're really a good wife in your husband's eyes now?" asked Edward in a teasing tone."What? You... No! What are you talking about? We're still with the original agreement; we're just a contract marriage. So, don't think any more of me," Kyla snapped, turning her face away. Seconds later, she said goodbye."I'm leaving now," she said.Edward only responded with a nod.On the way, Kyla felt restless. She thought about what she had done in the past few days. She felt a change in herself. She no longer recognized herself, as she was previously a woman of firmness and principle. But now, she has become a woman who wants to know everything, even about things she shouldn't have to think about. It was more or less like that. Not long after, she arrived at the cafe they had agreed on. From a distance, he saw Elena waiting for him in the lobby."Have you been waiting long, El?" asked Kyla when she was in front of Elena."
As they were in the room together, an awkward atmosphere was evident. This was the first time they had faced a situation like this."You can sleep on the bed," Edward said, then got up and left the room.Inside the room, Kyla felt uneasy. She was not comfortable letting Edward sleep outside, especially with the cold night air. After rolling around in bed for a while without being able to close her eyes, she finally decided to look for him.Kyla walked out of the room, going through every room in the house until she found Edward in the back gazebo. He was enjoying the view of the city that looked beautiful from the top of the hills, with the moon shining brightly in the night sky."What are you doing here?" asked Kyla, her voice soft in the night breeze.Edward turned his head, slightly surprised to see Kyla standing there. "Nothing. Why are you out? It's quite cold outside," he said as he patted the spot next to him, motioning for Kyla to sit down.Kyla hesitated for a moment before f
“Prince, you must see this.” He approached Edward, who was walking to his hotel room after the wedding. In his hand, he carried a cell phone with a viral video on it.“Leave it alone,” Edward said casually, refusing to look at the video Diandra and Ricky had shared.“But Prince, this has gone too far,” Han tried to convince him.“I know. But tomorrow they will regret it,” Edward replied calmly as he continued walking.Edward deliberately kept the incident quiet for now. He had a plan to keep them silent. Right now, all he had on his mind was his wife. He knew Kyla would still be curious about his status after the King and Queen attended their wedding.Edward opened the door to the room slowly. Kyla, who had already changed, immediately approached him with a questioning look.“Edward, who exactly are you? How come the King and Queen are at our wedding? Don't you...” Kyla trailed off, seemingly hesitant to continue.Edward smiled slightly. “I was born and raised in the Palace. It was on
Such a grand party was held in a luxurious building decorated with great beauty. Crystal chandeliers glittered from the ceiling, reflecting light that added to the magical atmosphere of the evening. The guests were from the world's elite - royalty, high-ranking officials, and prominent business people. They had come from all over the world to attend a celebration that was not only special but historic: the wedding of the crown prince of the Kingdom of Mars, a highly respected leader.Edward, the crown prince, stood at the hall's end dressed in regal regalia. His blood-red robe was adorned with gold embroidery and a shining royal crest. Underneath the robe, his body looked dashing in light armor designed to add to his charm as a general. Although his appearance exuded an aura of decisiveness, there was a hint of nervousness in his eyes.Kyla had finished dressing up. With steady steps, she walked towards the room where the wedding party was held. Although her small steps felt so heavy,
“Mrs Wijaya, believe me, he is not what you see now,” Elizabeth was still trying to convince everyone, her voice full of emotion and conviction that seemed forced.Lady Wijaya seemed affected. She looked at Edward with a thoughtful gaze, then turned her gaze to everyone standing around the man. As if trying to find the truth behind all of Elizabeth's accusations. Finally, after taking a deep breath, she said in a firm tone, “I don't know who is right here. But I'll calculate if you lie to me, Edward.”The room fell silent for a moment. The guests exchanged glances, the atmosphere turning increasingly tense. However, Edward remained calm, his gaze not wavering in the slightest. In a low but authoritative voice, the man who looked like Edward's messenger spoke, “True or not, it is none of your business, Mrs. Wijaya. My duty is only to fetch the bride. And you, Miss Elizabeth,” the man glanced at Elizabeth with a cold gaze, ”stop talking before you do something you will regret.”Elizabet
“Stop it!” The loud voice echoed, breaking the crowd that had previously been filled with the guests' conversations. Everyone fell silent, turning their eyes towards the voice's owner.Edward stopped his steps, turning his head with a surprised expression. So did Kyla, who stood beside him. Their gazes met Elizabeth, who advanced from the crowd, her face filled with anger and blatant contempt.Elizabeth swept her gaze across the room, taking a deep breath before opening her voice. “What kind of joke are you making, Edward?” her voice was filled with mockery, but she made sure every word was stabbed like a dagger. “You may be able to lie to all of them, but me? I know who you are.”Edward gave Elizabeth a cold stare, his expression difficult to read, but Kyla could feel the tension that enveloped the man's body beside her.“You have nothing! You're just a poor ex-soldier who means nothing!” Elizabeth pointed her finger at Edward accusingly. “So stop this nonsense. Everyone with you tod
